I too have seen great accuracy from my scar 20s with the 168g SMKs (normally I’m getting.60-.75” moa bipod on a bench no bag), but what really impressed me was the PMC x-Tac (147g) which consistently gives .75 to a hair 1” moa. For some reason Ive been finding LC 168g SMK in bulk for about 92-cents/rd with tax and shipping while the x-Tac is running about 86-cents/rd, so 6-cents more, I’ve just been getting the SMKs while they’re here.
I have nearly identical guns. My Scar 20 in .308 shoots M118LR at .7 - 1.0 moa. With the 6.5 barrel it’s .5 - .75 moa. I’ve had terrible luck with my criterion 18” CL barrel built with a headspaced JP bolt in an Aero receiver. Best group (5 shot) it’s ever done was 1.25 moa. It’s generally a 1.75-2.5 moa rifle, and I’ve never figured out how to get it to shoot better. I have a flow 7.62 TI can on the way so I’m hoping it will help tighten up my groups.
Oh wow. I shot mine from bipod. I was thinking it would do even better from a sled. But still Thought they did very well. The criterion has a lantac e bolt. It gauges gtg on go/no/ field gauges. Not sure if the head space is tighter in mine and that may explain it. First 308 criterion barrel I’ve use. I have several of their 5.56 barrels and they’re the bees knees. I will say that they both really liked the 168 smk. Produced a couple groups that were all touching
Nice, is your Criterion barrel chrome-lined or nitrided? I have an 18" nitrided waiting to be build, and I was going to use the same Aero receiver set and handguard. Now to decide whether I want to go with the M5E1 Atlas R-One handguard, or go with the enhanced upper/handguard for the beefier barrel nut lock up.
It’s chrome lined. The Aero M5E1 has been great and has run flawlessly. Unfortunately I have been looking quite hard at the ar10 receiver set from American defense manufacturing. It’s pricier. But wow is it sexy! There’s no urgent need to change from the aero other than my own vanity. lol

92 cents a round for 168 SMKs? What's your source? lol
Thank you for covering this topic
