some context barbatos and guison rebake were holding off the enemy mobile suits. When they couldn't be taken down Gjallahorn decided to use an ileegal weapon that is basically an anti-ship rifle and bombarded them from out of orbit. Barbatos and Guison are gundam frames that were made to fight off machines that were created to wipe out humanity. both characters got surgery that let them connect to the machine. Which let them pilot the gundams more easily and gave them spacial awareness, making them well in close combat. The red eyes on barbatos removes the limiter on them giving them more strength and speed at the cost of damaging there nerves. meaning when disconnected from the machine some of their limbs or eyes don't work. there is also a video with barbatos fighting the mobile armor (the machine that could kill humanity) Barbatos vs Hasmal

Back again though just for a short explanation, Reason for why any of the Mobile Suits dont have Beam Weapons is because in the Iron-Blooded Orphans Universe Beam Weapons pretty much became obsolete as the armor of the Mobile Suits in IBO are VERY very resistant to Beam attacks that just getting hit by a powerful Beam Cannon attack on one of them barely do damage to the Mobile Suit hence why this series heavily relies on Ballistic Weapons or Melee Weapons.
@@WadeWadeReactsanother thing worth noting is that the only thing that possesses beam weaponry in this timeline was a series of autonomous machines that eliminated 30% of human life in a century’s old conflict known as the “Calamity War”. @@lentscap8492 That makes sense, they are fuesd with the machine, which probably works better in combat.
Honestly when you talk about war, there is no good side or bad side, just the winner and loser at the end of the day

In Gundam there are never good and bad guys just people with differences in opinion, ideology, or in the case of IBO politics
@TomasGrinkevic Not having a good or bad side makes Gundam a lot more interesting.
