Das Akademische Orchester war wieder zu Gast im Konzerthaus Freiburg. Unter der Leitung von Dirigent Joonas Pitkänen hat das offizielle Orchester der Universität Freiburg von Sergej Rachmaninow die Sinfonie Nr. 2 e-moll, op.27, gespielt.

After watching a video of Yuja Wang playing the Rachmaninoff Second Piano Concerto, the YT super computer urged me to view your performance of his Second Symphony. Had I been listening over Classical FM radio and missed the introduction, I would never have guessed that this excellent rendition is by an Academic student orchestra. Parabens a todos!!! Für mich das schönste Werk für Orchester, noch dazu meines Lieblingskomponisten! Alleine dafür, dass Rachmaninow (und dann auch noch seine zweite Sinfonie) gespielt wird, gibt es ein riesen Lob von mir!

I'm always astonished how good many student orchestras of big universities in Germany are. Especially if they don't even have a music faculty where you study an instrument.
I played in one of them once and I was expecting string playing of the usual music school level and was absolutely floored by how good the orchestra was for a bunch of amateurs that did this just for fun and recreation.

This is one of the great romantic symphonies and its melodic genius sweeps the listener along on the way to
its completion. It is a musical balancing act that demands emotive restraint and full bodied submission in
equal measure. The substantial orchestral forces here are a plus and the performers will be taking
something to remember from what is heard here.

Man merkt euch an, dass ihr mit Spaß bei der Sache seit. Wenn man Profiorchestern zuschaut sieht man oft, dass sie das halt jeden Tag machen. Ein Konzert ist für die oft halt nur der nächste Freitag. Die haben dann oft so einen "ja ich spiel hier jetzt gerad einen Lauf" Gesichtsausdruck. Bei euch sieht man noch den Stolz und die Freude im Gesicht, dass nach einem Semester gemeinsamen Übens was Großes dabei rausgekommen ist.
Ich habe schon osteuropäische Profiorchester Schwanenensee exekutieren gehört, die waren schlechter als ihr.
Ein Hurra für eure 1. Klarinettistin. Hab das Instrument früher auch in Schulorchestern gespielt und ich hätte jemanden ermordet um das Solo im 3. Satz spielen zu dürfen.
Großes Lob auch an die Aufnahmetechnik. Klingt alles sehr gut.
