    Bryan, I’m 72 and restoring a 1990 Hunter 35.5 that needs quite a bit of fiberglass work. I have done small jobs, but I was not prepared for the scope of what I needed to do. I was ready to accept defeat and take a huge loss, but after watching you I have a renewed sense of confidence! I have learned so, so much from you! Thank you so very much, you don’t just DO the work, but you TEACH as you go. You are an amazingly skilled teacher, and I am so grateful! Thank you so much!!

    Window caulking: ....And you didn't clean up enough after installation and had to clean it up later....SHOCK. LOL
    Hey it's all good that works out right in the end. Your way, their way, my way, it's all good. There are many roads to get to the same destination. Some are smooth, some are bumpy, some are almost impossible journeys, however, it's the end result that really matters. So do it your way.
    Great job.

    You can't go wrong with Sika. Being a professional Sika user it's a bit awkward to see how expensive these products are. I use the Powercure system which would have also been great for this job, but apart from the insane expensive caulking gun it also takes some practice and experience to make it work.
    The Sika primer is a real pita when you spill it, either on your hands or on other surfaces. Using a piece of pumice stone can get it of your hands, especially when you take a long bath first :-)

    Fantastic!! I was so excited to your new video. And I am salivating at your router set up! But you know what I loved the most? The fact that your garage is not "tv production", it's a REAL garage! Full of projects in process, tools, toys, stuff, kid's stuff...you know real life. LOL. I'm with you on the creative vs organized. I love the look of organization, but I love being creative better and for me, there IS organization in the chaos of creativity. Keep up the good work, now that you've got the time to use--go for it!

    Initially, a CNC router takes way more time than it saves, but it delivers a very pleasant precision and is a great time saver if you ever need more than one part of something or if you need a revised version of a part you made before. Good decision, you will find many useful applications of it with time that are well worth the initial effort to build it and establish the work process.

    • @BryanSailing
      @BryanSailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I wouldn't have done it just for the window, but all of the interior on the boat is CNC cut and I have the original files to recut them. That will make it a big timesaver when that part comes.

    Really enjoying your videos, hope you keep it up. I am also watching another channel, Sailing Parlay Revival about a hurricane damaged Lagoon 45 catamaran. They have experienced a major bulkhead failure that they are now repairing. Don't know if this common in cats but just wanted to bring it to your attention for your boat. Best to address while the boat is all torn apart. Their problem was hidden behind finished walls and cabinetry so not initially detected when they did their repairs. I hope you don't have a similar situation. Good luck with your project

    • @BryanSailing
      @BryanSailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did an episode on that. The good news is all my bulkheads are accessible because of the boat design. There is some damage I will be fixing, but even with the damages the boat is still square and straight.

    Coming along very well. You boat is probably one of the more bashed up project boats on TH-cam. Thanks for your sacrificial glass layer idea a few episodes back (extra layer on top than you can sand down to without damaging the layers beneath). It inspired me to do something similar in surface prepartion prior to applying heavy cloth.
    I laid lite cloth over hexacore which filled in some slight depressions I have left in it when kneeling on it. I then sanded back most of the cloth leaving a smooth surface for the outer layer of basalt cloth. Just a sailing dinghy
