I think an interesting run could be "can you beat New Vegas with only gifts/rewards?" Pretty much just locking yourself to equipment not purchased, but placed into the player's inventory by NPCs
Yes. That’s the same as any weapon challenge. You can beat the game with your starting shotgun and pistol. Or the varmint rifle. Or the service rifle and ncr armor. Or legion stuff. Etc. that’s not really a challenge

You could do another "it follows" type of run where ringo is trying to give you his caps for helping save him in the beginning. I don't know if he'll follow you like the other npcs but he runs with his weapon holstered and therefore is faster than Kawalski.
I think it’s because a different NPC can die and Lanius can loot them. At one point Lanius killed an NCR soldier, looted some grenades from the corpse and started lobbing grenades at me. I think the same thing happened for you but he looted a shotgun instead of grenades
Npcs can loot their fallen comrades. Chances are the player ran away into the camp full of dead legionaries and lanius got sick of chasing the courier with a sword so he picked up the shotgun and started blasting. Given the chance I'm pretty sure every enemy with a melee weapon will switch to a firearm if they walk by a corpse with a gun.
every npc in fallout 3/new vegas when engaging in combat can randomly pick up weapons from the floor/dead bodies, as well as activate devices, etc, imagine the player pressing their use button all the time, well, that's what npcs do when fighting, this also applies to TES

I played through New Vegas far too many times-to the point where I legitimately lost count of many times I'd done so-and I never, _ever_ stumbled upon that grave in Wolfhorn Ranch.

He was supposed to be a vanilla game companion, but due to the excessive dialogue written for him (they couldn't fit it on the disk) he wasn't put in. Edit: Also the name for Wolfhorn ranch in Spanish, French, Italian and German versions of the game is Ulysses Camp in their respective languages.
I can vaguely recall a knife hidden in a grave that's actually a reference to the graphic novel. -ayy the cool knife!- This actually looks like a really interesting run. Don't forget! If you don't plan on burying the body- anywhere can be a grave! -Validate looting bodies.-
@@punkcobi8953 Well actually it's the Katana, it's the best melee weapon in the game overall in fact. But obviously it's harder to get + needs the mods. Buy all of it at the gunner runners I think. Personally I go with Embrace of the Mantis King! as it's very easy to get if you got the caps from gambling and it's the best fist weapon. If you only got the base game ya chances knife is badass.
Can you beat Fallout 4 as Lady Dimitrescu? Rule 1: Player character size must be doubled (or tripled?) Rule 2: The only weapon that must be used is the Deathclaw Gauntlet. Rule 3: Only clothes allowed are fancy dresses and hats Rule 4: Healing must be done through the Cannibal perk Rule 5: Movement speed must increase for every main story quest finished. This is because in Re 8, Lady D gets faster every time you defeat one of her daughters (Thank you to the replies for the extra rules, this could be a fun challenge!)
I just thought of a challenge that I might try myself but still wanna throw out there: "Can you beat Fallout 4 using only an empty minigun with the shredder modification?" It would basically be a chainsaw, but since there's no actual chainsaw in 4.

I'd say looting an already dead body should also count. Black Mountain at least sometimes has a dead NCR trooper to loot for armour that can be worn to ride the monorail at Camp McCarran.
Theres a few graves on the hillside past Nelson, tho youd have to sneak by some legion. Oh yeah and 2 graves at the burnt down homestead near searchlight.

There are 2 graves west of the Whittaker Farmstead. 8. There are 2 graves behind the Followers safehouse. 9. There are 2 graves in front of Matthews Animal Husbandry Farm. 10. There is 1 grave at the east entrance to the Scorpion Gulch. 11. There is 1 grave at Wolfhorn Ranch. 12. There are 2 graves behind Blue Paradise Vacation Rentals. 13. There is 1 grave to the west of Bonnie Springs on a hill overlooking the town. 14. There are lots of graves at Bitter Springs. 15. There are 3 graves west of Mesquite Mountains Camp Site. 16. I sincerely hoped you visited Matthew’s Animal Husbandry for its two graves. There are also three near Mojave Outpost and Mesquite Mountains Campground.
Can you beat Fallout 4 with only persuasion perks (i.e. animal friend, intimidation, wasteland whisperer, etc.) It would really be funny and interesting for you to beat fallout 4 using ONLY non-companion NPCs.
I feel like you could’ve included already dead corpses in this play through as well, that would give you some good variety with items without adding too much of a handicap and make a guns play through possible.

Missing doesn't count, so no shooting near them to bypass the challenge. I would recommend FO4 for it, because there is a perk specifically tailored to this, though I think it only applies to VATS.

You should check out MittenSquads “New Vegas without looting”. Since he couldn’t loot any containers, he beat the game with only the couriers stash items
Not gonna lie the place you got stuck when trying to avoid the cazadors near the valley from Goodsprings to New Vegas is the same exact spot I got stuck in during my first playthrough of the game lmao, brought back some memories for sure; good video :3
I know I'm late to the party (just discovered this channel the other day), but you didn't need to break the ruleset to get past the Strip gate, you can pass with a Science check of 80 (might be 75, but iirc 80). Worth grinding some levels for :)
That was amazing, great run and great strats, how come you don't use the Path on the left along the cliff side to get too the boomers fence though? Anyway can you beat fallout new Vegas with only things found in vaults?
That was a morbid if interesting challenge run. I'll note if anyone wants to try this there are two graves near the canyon wreckage , on near scorpion gulch and another near the northern passage that are easy to get to. The wiki has a complete list
It is. Similarly, the only way to get maximum fame with the Brotherhood of Steel is to stop the nuclear missile launch altogether in the Lonesome Road DLC. Neither Goodsprings nor the Brotherhood offer enough chances to gain fame otherwise.
I had no idea there were so many graves in the game and that they could give such good loot. I always thought it was the ones in Goodsprings and a couple more unique ones, and they just gave ammo and junk
i would be willing to say for this challenge you could trade out the ammo you find for caps to buy the ammo you need for any of the guns you found, in my mind i think that's fair to essentially just trade out the ammo (or if you didn't want to barter break it down and convert it that way) as you are still using only the weapons you find just converting whatever ammo you don't need into the ammo you do
It's honestly incredible how many people are buried with their belongings in a world where every little bit matters. I guess like war, burial rites never change.

There arnt that many people who give items though if I recall correctly, you might just end up using the speech and barter skills for everything

Selling anything you get from a grave would count as 'caps only from a grave' as well.
Technically you could take items from bodies instead of just graves, because technically it's kinda the same thing.
Then it'd turn into a somewhat average FNV run, but you got started using weapons from graves.

You should check out MittenSquads “New Vegas without looting”. Since he couldn’t loot any containers, he beat the game with only the couriers stash items

Not gonna lie the place you got stuck when trying to avoid the cazadors near the valley from Goodsprings to New Vegas is the same exact spot I got stuck in during my first playthrough of the game lmao, brought back some memories for sure; good video :3

The brass knuckles and Spiked knuckles took me through a huge chunk of the game on my first unarmed playthrough.

That was a morbid if interesting challenge run. I'll note if anyone wants to try this there are two graves near the canyon wreckage , on near scorpion gulch and another near the northern passage that are easy to get to. The wiki has a complete list

I think doing the full tutorial is the only way to get max affinity with Goodsprings, saving that one lady from the geckos.
It is. Similarly, the only way to get maximum fame with the Brotherhood of Steel is to stop the nuclear missile launch altogether in the Lonesome Road DLC. Neither Goodsprings nor the Brotherhood offer enough chances to gain fame otherwise.
I had no idea there were so many graves in the game and that they could give such good loot. I always thought it was the ones in Goodsprings and a couple more unique ones, and they just gave ammo and junk

i would be willing to say for this challenge you could trade out the ammo you find for caps to buy the ammo you need for any of the guns you found, in my mind i think that's fair to essentially just trade out the ammo (or if you didn't want to barter break it down and convert it that way) as you are still using only the weapons you find just converting whatever ammo you don't need into the ammo you do
