Just got a Belle Beard yesterday. It's hands down the best reso I've ever played. Never thought about getting one of these..it was a case of I'm going to buy one thing and left with something else. I wonder if this design will catch on? It's absolutely incredible in every way! A real work of art!
Love my Hip Shot. Got my primary tuning in drop E cause I practice a lot of Greg Booth's tabs. Love your playing btw. You blew me away at Dark Star Jubilee a couple years ago.
If you could find a way to work the lever with your foot it would give you more flexibility. Maybe a foot pedal working the double shot through a cable-in-tube, like a car brake pedal.
Great video Andy! Do you think it can be done the other way around? Thinking about the mechanics you explained, it is tuned from D to G because you only have to "capo up" the 2 A strings 2 semitones, the F sharp with 1 semitone and the D with 5 semitones to G but the other way around the intervals would be so much farther it probably wont work. Maybe if the lever can be switched but likely the mechanics wont allow it. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!
I think I know what you mean. Whatever is lower is what you tune the guitar to if the hipshot is disengaged, since it acts as almost a capo. So lower tuning disengaged to anything higher. I think one whole tone may be the limit of any one string
It's a Beard. A "Belle" Beard which means it has a second cone in the body that rings sympathetically as you play. And acts as kind of a baffle. Think Virzi tone producer on mandolins.
Sweet!

OK That is really cool and your slide playing is epic.
Thank you

@@dustypicks Thank you for the answer Andy!
Nice dobro, what kind is it?

Have you had any problem with more frequent string breakage from not having a roller nut?
Howdy! I have a roller nut on there.
Ah, I couldn't see it on my tiny phone screen. Thanks for the reply and the videos!
