Please, Please, Please! Much more of this. I've been hunting for ages looking for this info for lap steel, there is very little out there. Especially in open G. So thank you, keep it coming.
Effing brilliant! I saw Pete Grant do a house concert with Paddy Keenan, and whoo boy, were there some melodies played on that pedal steel. I'm trying to creep into slide playing, and you've just given me a big leg up. Many thanks.
I good example of the melody on slide, is Duane’s playing on Cowboy’s “Please be with me” sounds like a dobro, doesn’t have the brightness of a national steel. It’s on his Anthology boxed set if anyone wants to hear it.
@ I don’t know the term for it. But where the index and middle don’t hit at the same time but it’s almost a pinch or a strum sort of, seen a few do it and it sounds SO GOOD.
Andy - you probably just do it automatically without thinking of it, but it does add a lot to the sounds. Thanks for taking the time to explain some stuff to us.

At the starting out level , you can use the instructional materials nominally intended for Dobro , which is overwhelmingly in high G .
really helpful thanks haven't seen this detail anywhere else
Some really great tips.
Thank you!
that. was. amazing ❤ subbed
I fool around in a lot of tunings, but your explanation of G vs D is very helpful.
Great info! I really appreciate these lessons.
Great job Andy. This is music lesson gold. Gold Andy, gold! I'm a violist but i dabble with electric guitar. Will be soon acquiring a bar. Thank you!

Andy, do you use RH pick blocking? Some players use none and only mute with their LH.
@@MrChrisEaton tons. I never practiced it, it just sort of happened. But I do have exercises to help teach it. I’ll share that at some point
Nice, could you talk about the pinch of all 3 fingers that is delayed with the index and middle? I’ve seen you do that and it sounds so awesome.
@@BanjoLemonade I think I know what you mean. Not a roll but almost a flam kind of thing?

@@BanjoLemonade perhaps it’s a pinch “rake”. I’ll try and do a video on rakes before long.
Wow. Fantastic! Your depth of knowledge is amazing! Just awesome. Also, what is that tuning lever? I want one!😄
It's a Hipshot ( brand) Double Shot ( product name ) .
@margarethouse404 Thank you😃
Jerry Douglas - genius reso player.
Thanks, good video
What form of open G do you use? There are a couple different versions I have seen.

So, a classic Dobro tuning. Larkin Poe (one of ‘em) uses the same tuning and can play all kinds of stuff.
@@stephenbouchelle7706 Megan is a great player!
Boring and totally without personality! Content OK though!
