Let’s Talk Decluttering! Sharing my Decluttering Card Deck from Fodder School

  • This video is a little different! Today I’m talking about decluttering (my latest obsession!) and sharing the card deck I made in Fodder School with ‪@meganquinlanstudio105‬. The deck includes tips and tricks to help sort through and get rid of all that extra stuff in your home that you don’t need but that is taking up both mental and physical real estate in your life. I plan to add to the deck as I learn more. I also plan to keep these bright, pretty cards beside me as I clean and sort to help me make some of those hard letting-go decisions.
Decluttering is a major goal for me this year and I’m relying on a lot of experts to help me. If you want more ideas check out Dawn ‪@TheMinimalMom‬. I’m pretty sure she has a video on art and craft supplies!!

This was so precious. And such an awesome idea! I love your approach to this difficult task. And the cards are of course so beautiful. It attaches beauty and joy to a task that can sometimes be daunting. Love it!

Love your card designs! They speak to me as I’m in the midst of decluttering 25 years of living in the same house and on the minimalist path. I would add one more card. Containerize - as a way to control the amount of possessions. Example: only own the amount of books that fit on your bookshelf. That has really been helpful in addition to all those you depicted.

Oooh! That's a good tip. I'll add that to my deck!

Pretty *and* practical, love these. Like you, I've read the decluttering books and blogs and watched the vids. It all helped. At some pt I wondered if I was on a minimalism journey... hah, nope! But managing soooo much less stuff has been a game changer. I think I will make cards like this for a friend who is starting to declutter. Thanks Erin 👍🏼🤩.

I'm good at cleaning up after myself but it's my husband who is the human tornado. He leaves a trail of debris whatever room he is in and won't/can't/refuses to pick up after himself. It's like living with a giant toddler. Anyway.... these cards are adorable and seem very useful as well. Thanks for sharing.

Hi.. I love this idea! I’m currently creating cards that are a bit smaller to fit in a tin and using PaperArtsy Fresco paints and various stamps & stencils. My current plan is to do three cards for each designer but I love the idea of a theme and for them to be functional. Thanks for sharing your creativity and inspiration. Happy I found you and will subscribe to your channel. Have a great day! 🙂

Yes! Most of what I have is the stuff no one wanted or it was given to me because I'm the "historian in the family," which is code for they don't want to be the ones to keep it. LOL. That sort of bothers me because it puts pressure on me to keep it--as if my house if the family archives and if they want to see it again someday and I don't have it they will be upset. But I'm starting to get past that. If I think someone might want it, I do offer it. But I often find that leads to a big head ache of people saying they want it but then not coming to get it or putting off getting it or wanting me to ship it or whatever and it turns into an ordeal.

I do know these things can get a little sticky! Sounds like you value it the most. Not always easy to keep the peace but well worth it. Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful art with us. I do wish I knew the computer better, I would sign up for fodder school! Thanks again and be blessed!

This is SO helpful....thank you from the bottom of my heart! My mom passed away two years ago and I seriously have 118 boxes in storage. The honor rule will help me finally go through it and not just keep everything because i feel bad. Thank you!

My mom passed away in 2022 and my dad in 2023 so I feel your pain. That is mostly why I am doing this. I'm dreading the documents and pictures. I don't know how I will deal with that stuff.

They are 4 x 6 and I used two pieces of watercolor paper--nothing fancy, just the cheap stuff--glued together.

@kimhardee1892 This one is from Tim Holtz. It's for storing the mini-distress ink pads. But you can find similar on Amazon in all kinds of sizes.
