He has rated the newer Saragosa SWA version as an even better reel which he stated he didn't believe was possible. He also picked up on the Daiwa BG MQ's rear gear cover rubber seal and handle rubber seal as potential problems re salt intrusion.

Was tossing up between gosa and MQ in 6000. Just bought two 21 Saltist MQ reels. Itching to use them. Not a lot between them, Daiwa is lighter, stronger drag and newer design. Both are very good and worthy of purchasing in my opinion.
I have the bg mq 10k and the drag cap did break on me but I hooked onto like 5 over 7 foot sharks and actually landed a 7 foot bullshark before it broke and it’s more my fault for using it incorrectly than daiwa but it handles well imo
I bought the same reel too....but it Bg Mq 8000 ARK-H and i love it❤ reel that have ark means aluminium round knob handle...love it the reel can use all purpose like jigging, popping, and can bottom fishing, live bait for mackerel😊 i think BG for daiwa reel is means Big Game reel🎉
I’d say that the best bang for your buck would be a Shimano Sedona… I just retired mine after 20+ years of fresh and saltwater use. Not bad for $64!!!🎣
bushings in line rollers sometimes are better than ballbearings, for once, last generation's saragosas' line roller ballbearings were its weak side, almost everyone i know who has a last gen saragosa has had to replace these line roller bearings, yet i have to see anyone owning the previous BG changing the bushings in their line rollers due to malfunction.. also.. if you are dealing with bushings why would you need to seal the roller??

@@TJXHT nah, I recently checked them after this last trip down to FL and I was playing around in the reels to see if anything needs work and it’s all good

I need a shore jigging reel for my Majorcraft Solpara 1002h 60-100g. I would choose between Daiwa BG Mq, Shimano Saragosa, Penn Slammer 3 or 4 and Daiwa Saltist Ltd. What reel and size would you suggest me?

You can’t beat the Daiwa BG (black gold) for that price point. Just ensure you are buying version marketed to the USA. The version made for the Japanese market is objectively inferior
the bushings are good for hard saltwater use like you know the bearings go the bushings hold up I've taken spool bearing out and thrown in teflon bearings and get the same performance in most open face conventional
well as far as i know, the airrotor that daiwa used *is* made of zaion but instead they decide to use graphite reinforced plastic even though daiwa advertises it as airrotor??

I dont think "BG MQ" is in the league as Saragosa. You would have to compare the Saragosa with the new "Salist MQ". However, I do agree with you about the mag seal. You cant really service on your own for the most part, which could be the deal breaker for many anglers.
Nice review But I guess that Daiwa Blast is better than BG MQ if we talk about 6000 size. It has tuning opportunity. You can add 4 bearings into this reel and that is why I think small BLASTs is better than small BGs...
Conventional is the way to go. More line capacity to let the kings run til it get tired but for conventional probably saragosa 10000k + for it line capacity
I think your analysis isn't correct. The "philosophy" of bg mq was to made a body more resistent to torsion. This permit the shaft to go up and down with less resistence than in a normal reel. That is to retrieve a fish with less effort. If you dont taste/proof thys the comparison lost significance. For example try to up the same weight ( may be 1 kg) with the 2 reel and the same rod and see if there are differencs. Thank
No sealing on the BG MQ was a deal breaker for me and I don't think the mag seal grease will stand the test of time on the Saltist. I went with the Spheros. Saragosa might be the most cost-effective reel out there right now, closely followed by the Slammer and the Spinfisher.
