Josh's pitched screams give me chills.
This band name should be "How to sound heavy in standard tuning".
Hahahah, exactly, this is what i've been thinking all this time about this band. I personally hate play in E but these guys made me think twice.

That's the thing though. Master of the instrument. There is a bass guitar for a reason... No need to tune down... Notes are notes. Chords are chords. They don't change just because you can go a few notes lower on a guitar. Let the bass guitar fill in the low end and do its job.
AHAB and Gorguts would sound goofy as shit in standard tuning lol. Bass and Guitar can still work really well together in those low tunings, it's all in the composition and the mix.
The best thing is to have a D standard guitar with 24 frets.

Both clean vocals and pitched screams are on point.He better start playing their songs with clean vocals live now. He's definitely up to it now.

Along with Revocation and Ouroboros these guys are saving Thrash Metal from the boredom agony of 80's Gimmick bands...
older albums were thrashy.
Riff wise they're pretty Thrashy... but with more interesting structures.
It's called not being a generic thrash band.

It might be Thrashy riff wise, but it aint rhytmically because they are jumping through a lot of rhytms in one song, besides the vocals are no way Thrash

The bass needed to be more complex on this song and follow the guitar more. It's really flat when done this simple. It works I guess, but I know he's more than capable of playing like Cliff.

Josh's musicianship level is over the top, really on the same level of gods like hetfield

deathbastardable Why do you think that? Rob still wrote and recorded the drums on this album. I met both of them and both are nice.
Blaž Ločniškar I guess it's because I feel Callard was a bit too robotic and two-dimensional, if you get me. This guy seems to play more naturally and tastefully.
deathbastardable I saw them live with both. The best concert in my life was in London and the only time I saw them with Rob. They are both extremely good players, and I love Bleed From Within aswell, but as I said we haven't heard what Ali will bring to Sylosis, as Rob was the one that wrote/recorded all of their songs. I hope the style doesn't change though. :)
Like Ali but I thought The Edge of the Earth was their best drumming. Epic album
I love Sylosis, but its hard to go from Jaime Graham, to Josh on vocals, its takes away from his one of the best least guitarists on Earth ability. He's a good singer but very limited, and their new material all sounds alike Josh is puttinga ton of effort into Instrumental intros and outros to get out his guitar creativity. And of course singing ALL the vocals is going to make him simplify, and lay back on guitar while singing, when on Conclusions of a Age, he was just absolutely dominating melodically on guitar constantly..no filler, while Jamie took them all over with vocal hooks, beautiful melodies, and some of the most brutal growling vox possible. As a singing guitar myself, who did front and backing vocals maybe 30% of our originals, while also being the only guitar, it definitely adds a load to carry. If Sylosis hired a designated singer as good or better than Jaime Graham ( if that exists) and Josh focused 100% on guitars, songwriting and backing vocals....Sylosis would be headlining EVERYTHING and easily as big as Lamb of God, or Slipknot. Conclusions of an age was a masterpiece that was and equivalent album to ANYTHING ever written in metal!!! Once we have heard Sylosis as they should be, hard to hear them any other way. Im not saying i hate everything sang by Josh, its very very good, BUT when your first album is a masterpiece you have big shoes to fill, not a bashing, A COMPLIMENT AND CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM ONLY.
