DIY $50 RUSTIC FARMHOUSE HEADBOARD

- Who wants to build the easiest DIY Rustic Headboard ever? I am excited because not only is this King size headboard easy to make, but is affordable at only $50 and is quality made! We took Ana White's Queen Size Headboard Tutorial and tweaked it to a King and then found pieces of material for example using posts instead of random pieces to make it more sturdy, less materials and less money! Headboard Instructions
We took one - 4 x 4 x 10 fence post and cut it in half so we had two 4 x 4 x 5 pieces for the posts to our headboard.
Next we took 2 - 1 x 2 pieces of wood and cut them to 35.5 inches for in the inner part to the headboard on the post. This would give something for the tounge and groove to hold on to.
The top piece is just a simple 2 x 6 at 84.5 inches
We then used 7 tounge and groves at 75.5 inches in length.
We used a 1 x 2 at 75.5 inches in length to clean up the top portion of the tounge and groove
Then a 1 x 3 at 75.5 inches for the bottom of the tounge and groove!

Great design and looks. Many have ask about the bottom support not stained piece which is not in your plans or the video. I am assuming it is to attach the bed frame. I have built similar before and there is always the headboard wobble to contend with, especially since the headboard is so heavy. Did you anker to the wall or is it free standing to the bottom support? Great video, thanks!
What stain did you use for the bed? Any specific advice for the look you achieved with the stain?
What size nails did you use? And what size screws did you use to screws the 2x6? Making it tomorrow so would like to know that way I can buy the exact material I need 😊
Just bought the materials to build this. Updated cost puts it at $100, though. It still is much less expensive than buying one.
looking for king headboard as my king Wooden Platform Bed Frame did not come with headboard and is the same walnut color. My question on changing your "Ana White" plan and using 4x4, was the headboard heavy with extra thickness of 4x4.
Do you have to attach it to your bed frame. Or will it hold pinned between bed and wall?

My bed frame has holes in the back of it. So I drilled through it and used bolts to attach BUT you can attach to the wall also.

I love the matress! Still use it every night. I dont have measurements for a full. We were inspired by ana white tutorial and adjusted it as we went! I highly recommend her website for a full size bed!

They are boards with a tongue at the top like an insert and a groove at the bottom for the next board to slide into.
