This was a great and practical look at a computer that is one of three models that I'm considering buying. You really got into the nuts and bolts of it, which I appreciate. As someone who will likely only be upgrading the amount of RAM, I'm thinking I may pull the trigger on this one. Thank you!
One thing I love about Dell is their warranty. I have never found a company with a better warranty that is what keeps me coming back to them. They come to my house and fix my computer whenever there is a problem as long as it is under warranty and it costs me nothing. Name some companies where that come to your house and fix your computer either the next day or two days out? I can not think of any that diagnose the issues, bring a tech out to your house, and fix the issues. I have dealt with many companies that just make you diagnose the issues and then send the parts to them and it takes a considerable amount of time to get your computer and they have to tell you if the part fits under the warranty. You could diagnose the issue then buy the part that needs to be replaced or find a shop that will diagnose and fix the computer but that all costs money.
This is true and not everyone has the time or the knowledge to build a PC. My concern is after the warrant is up, there aren't many options to choose from if we're trying to upgrade the PC. For example the motherboard, that can't be upgraded. With the RAM, not many options either. But the warranty is definitely a peace of mind if you can get a good deal on a new PC
i have been using this pc for some time now, probably 7 month, i used it everyday almost all day, here where i live is getting super super hot and the pc still performs really well, i added a second intake fan and it works really well, i also undervolted the processor since mine is a i9-14900KF and i am getting descent temps and pretty good performance, my graphics card is always very chill compare to my processor. but overall i do recommend this Aurora R16. so far i love it.
I just bought an R16 that has the 4080 Super, 32GB ram, 1 TB SSD. I plan on upgrading the RAM and the SSD. If I am lucky, maybe the new Nvidia 5000 series cards will work in it and I can upgrade the GPU later. If not, I'll be happy with it for a few years and then I'll probably build my next one. Only reason I didn't build a new one if due to time and how much I work, I rarely ever get a day off and I just want to come home and play. I do wish I could upgrade the motherboard, but I knew it wasn't possible before I purchased it. Great video.
People need to understand that the Dell motherboards are proprietary, but the odds you will need to replace it are very low. Then, people complain that the PSU is also proprietary. Well the Dell power supplies are the best you can get. And if you need more power, you can get up to 1200 watt Power supply that will fit in your case.
I’m thinking about buying an R16 with a 4090 too. Can you tell me how’s the noise in that setup? Does the GPU make a lot of noise under continuous load?
@@kprotsenko1877 the noise will depend on the gpu lottery on the 4090. I have really low coil whine. I can’t hear it when I have the headphones on. I only get coil whine when I’m running Cyberpunk at max settings etc on other games it comes and goes.
@@Carlos2400 Okay thanks. Overall no problems when you are using it intensively? No sudden slowdowns (due to overheating) or anything like that? Other than that occasional coil whine.
@@kprotsenko1877 no this is a beast of a machine. I haven’t had any problem yet. I only use the machine so far for heavy gaming and it’s been nothing but great. If you also don’t want to get a r16 I can tell you to get a Ibuypower pc. I also had nothing but great things to say about them. I just wanted to try out this new dell r16. If not I would have gone to Ibuypower.
Just bought the R15 because the r16 doesn't have the lighting effects or they don't have the cryo cooler... It's like the r16 was a downgrade.. yikes... Why would Dell do that?
when I ordered my Aurora R16 , i also ordered some 32 GB RGB Ram from Newegg. The RGB color for Ram cannot be controlled by Alienware Command Center. What i did find is that Asus Armory Crate can control the RAM RGB color,so currently thats how I get the Ram color to match th R16 fan and chassi ring. I placed a 5TB hard drive in that bottom slot. Placed a second NVME SSD in the SSD slot. If anyone knows of something better for the Ram color please let me know.
Airflow was bad, I remove the radiator. Now 14900 f works very smoothly.. And added DEEPCOOL AK620 - Large One. And now 32 to 40 Degree. When gaming 50 to 60 Degree. It was horrible before. And added front Fan.
I goofed at the last second ordering my R16, got confused about the 14900F, KF, and K designations. Got an F..... Still fast, but not what I meant to do.
It’s 10% difference between the F and K. Most can’t even tell. I know I can’t because I have 14900K and my friend has a 14900F. We both run any game with no issues. What issues are you having?
i9 13 and 14th gen run exceptionally hot, 90 is pretty normal under high load, you could always undervolt it for efficiency though. Be warned the CPU on the r16 is already undervolted and draws less power than normal.
@@Undecidedable I just ordered one of these as I found a decent deal and then I heard about the intel CPU issues. Have you had any issues? or should I cancel?

@@Overbuilt.Gamingyou can use a riser cable with a 90 degree angle and mount under gpu (if small enough) if not then you should try and figure out how to mount outside the case. Hope this helps!

I have a question for you guys, is it possible to remove the hardware (CPU/GPU/RAM) and put it into a different case with a new motherboard and PSU?? To get rid of the proprietary components?
For anyone wondering; if you get the lower spec version of this PC (500W PSU and an RTX4060) you won't be able to upgrade the PSU to a 1000W or above without running into a lot of issues. Currently in the process of upgrading one for a customer and so far have had to order cable extensions for the CPU ATX cables, a 6pin to 8pin PCIE adapter, VR heatsinks and I'm now in the process of trying to scavenge fans and an AIO from someone as they won't let you replace it with anything but the one installed by Dell themselves and they don't actually sell them. The one that comes standard with the lower spec build will cause the PC to show an error on every boot which is not possible to be bypassed. TLDR; build yourself a PC from scratch, you'll be much happier with it and you'll save yourself money and hassle in the future instead of being locked to dell-only
The case needs to be a lot bigger for space. You can't upgrade to the 4090 can you? Also are you able to take all parts out of the pc and transfer them to a bigger case, because I had the Alienware aurora r6 and that case is so small I couldn't upgrade to a higher end gpu. I will never get another Alienware computer. I have a new gaming rig now. The MSI Aegis R2. Its the best computer I have ever owned.

only downside is the card takes up too much space and you can't fit a 10GbE inside, so say good bye to any internet connection faster than 2.5 GB, and who the heck is coughing out a lung in the background?
max 64 GB, and you have to change Radiator, it gets so hot. Games will get stutter, but after changing with DEEPCOOL A620 ZERo to Dark. It will be much cooler. And had to add front fan as well.
