    awesome content. Can we get some in depth mobility/stretching routine stuff? The crap no one wants to do but is key to longevity

    So far DUP program is going great! Quick question is bench supposed to feel more difficult after squat? And thank you for the feedback on last video!

      It’s life ❤️ I basically only listen to trance or progressive house. Sometimes rap if I’m lifting

    I was really rooting for you there pal on the Deadlift, i thought Yesss get in! What a bummer, you nailed it almost easily till the grip slip. Like you i've switched to hook grip and have a Deadlift comp in a few weeks. I must admit now that my hands have been broken in, i prefer this style of grip

      Dude fuckin same, feels tremendously stronger, I’m so excited for this cycle to keep acclimating! Good luck at the meet! Leave me a comment on how it goes after and what you hit!

    Ahhhh, bro, that 750 hurt my soul. But hey, I appreciate your intensity in all of it. Only time I lift like that is when I lift drunk, which is often. Which is kind of an interesting topic. How do you feel about drinking while lifting? I actually have a buddy who takes a tequila shot after every lift in his meets. I don't compete, and I have a home gym, so it's pretty easy for me to have a few drinks while I lift. Curious of your thoughts.

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      HAHAHAHA dude I wouldn’t drink personally but tbh it’s hard for me to say because I have the enzyme deficiency (part Japanese) so alcohol just makes me feel shit. I do know some swear by the blood pressure effects of a shot or two before a heavy deadlift though. My old friend Gina ended up tipsy by the time she reached her third attempt though in one meet lol. she regretted it because she couldn’t balance right

    my hookgrip always failed on max weights till i used lower in the thumb, calgary barbell, johnny candito and powerlifting to win have great tutorials

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I actually dislike the candito video personally because it’s pretty dogmatic. Finger tips feels horrible for me and slips. There’s many ways to do it and it’s not a one size fits all. My grip didn’t slip because of finger tips, it was the tape and bar rubbing my skin because I drag too much on bare skin especially. I need baby powder or longer singlet pants and just have to watch the tape.

      Yeah and what’s worse is I expected this but not for this long. I started feeling this right before my last meet in October, and here I am nearly 8 months later still feeling it lmao

    What's the thought process behind unracking for a split second on your squat, before actually starting your squat?

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a video on this but helps mold the bar to the back and makes it feel light af

    Idk where to put my back training on an U/L split because my back is sore after any DL variation. What do you think of a Push Pull split adding quads to Push and hams to pull

    I can relate to the pain thingy, I always have pain whenever i bend over fixing my bike after 2 minutes, ended up loading 80% (500 ish) squat and deadlift that day. I usually refer this to Louie Simmon : "Damn it, it's in my head." However, I still do deload because I kinda know when I fatique and when Im being a lazy asshole

  • @jakedragon8753
    @jakedragon8753 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do they allow that pre-lift for the squat in meets? Does that every time and saw him explain why he does that in another video but don't know if that kind of move is allowed at an actual competition. Looks like athletic tape for the blister, goat tape would likely work better to stay on and not slip.

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahahaha yes they do as long as I don’t cuss. They don’t allow swearing in most feds. I amp up hard at meets but tbh I think the judges hate it and usually give me stricter guidelines than the other lifters because of it.
      I haven’t heard of goat tape but from what I’m hearing from my buddies, most choose only to tape on light sets if at all regardless of type of tape because all tape seems to cause issues. I’ll check this out though because for now I need something especially on volume work, it kills my hands lol

    Do u have any tips on how to make your cns faster? I feel gassed some days after training.

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is normal! After these sbd days I’m dead however SLEEP! As cliche as it is, when I went from a tracked 7 hours to 8-9 it made a HUGE difference, like night and day. Track your sleep using a whoop or ring or whatever you have, most likely you’re getting way worse metrics than you think
