The dark hair really suites you, with the bangs cut the way they are, you are so striking! I loved everything you bought, eventually I'll look into getting me some shoes too! Also I have to agree with Sharon, the black foe collar, made you into a 1920's movie star!
Thank you! I have missed having my hair darker like this, but now that I am growing out my natural color again I have lots of grey that wasn't there before ;)
@@TheClosetHistorian damn I started going grey around your age, bummer, LOL. I am old now but I was totally into vintage in the 70's and had my hair blue black, a color that I carried over into the punk scene. I bought lot's of 40's and 50's pieces at the Los Angeles Rose Bowl and in thrift stores, there was tons of good stuff available in the 70's. I love your look too, I just wish that I had gone full on Louise Brooks when I was younger with a little black bob---those black leather 20's look alike shoes are divine, I have big feet too I would have loved a pair of those, although I did get to wear plenty of original 70's big honking platforms (maybe not so good for me at 5'8.) Have you watched any of the Stitch in Time episodes with Amber Butchart? I have a major girl crush on her and her series is really wonderful.
Girl....when you put that black collar on....I don't know what happened, but your skin just seemed to glow! I don't think I have seen you close up in black...but you and that collar were made for each other....in my opinion anyway.
Great haul. Love your reindeer pins. You placed them perfectly on that adorable cashmere sweater. Two weeks ago I dug around in my jewelry box for the six vintage Christmas tree pins I’ve owned for 20 years but rarely wear. Have been rotating them on my winter coats. They just don’t make pins like that anymore, with such attention to detail and style. Thanks to your prompting of ‘get thee to the thrift store’, I made a first visit to my local Goodwill and stole an exquisite Wilsons leather merlot color jacket for $3.00. I’m totally hooked now, thanks to you!
I have a pair of red rhinestone clips too somewhere, but I can't figure out where I put them, it's driving me mad! They are my favorite thing to find out in the wild :)
I love everything you got! My most favorite was the black fur collar ,,your brooches and the 1920s day shoes they are so gorgeous!! I'm addicted to clutches !! You truly have Exquisite taste x
I love your videos and your original designs. I would totally buy your cloths! Make your clothing line! I need a dress from you when we start gigging this fall in LA.. Love your channel. Thanks for being you!
Love the 1920s shoes, they remind me of what women wore as they marched with the Suffragettes, practical but very feminine and elegant. Love those black leather gloves, I wonder if they were stored in a cedar or sandalwood chest or if the original owner used a sandalwood scented hand cream?? Black clutch bag, beautiful, just refined and very very elegant, I thoroughly enjoy your videos, thank you.
The reindeer pins are a treasure! They’re perfect on that cashmere sweater. You look fabulous. Love your videos and especially your hauls. I always learn something!
Fabulous buys. With the gloves, you need to hang them outside to air them.Sprinkle ordinary,non-scented baby talcum powder inside and shake to cover.Tip out excess .Then,if your able to,turn the gloves inside out so the lining airs first. Then turn them the right way around and hang on an outside line.Buy large pegs that are not too springy and put a piece of thick fabric, such as black felt, inside the peg before using. This will stop the gloves from being marked. This can take five days inside and out, totalling ten days or more. If it's very sunny cover with a pice of cotton cloth so the gloves don't dry out.If your concerned air indoors but move into different rooms to eliminate the smell. You don't air flat as the air can't circulate the gloves properly. When finished, rub a leather cream into the gloves so they remain supple.I hope this works as they look beautiful.
Love the things you are showing us ....the brooches are great im a broochaholic ...i have boxes @ boxes can" t help myself i do wear them ..but i also like just looking at them ...have a great christmas X
Great to see a video from you! The reindeer/leaping deer broach/pins you're wearing are so cute! "I don't mind being hazardous." LOL! Weird Girl Smelling Gloves! I am a book smeller, so I can totally relate.
The beautiful rhinestone citrine clips are for your shoes....usually black pumps! be careful putting those on your clothing as they will put holes in your clothes...the little hooks on the metal are to clip onto leather and to stay while you walk! great haul
Thanks Kathryn! It (a lot) harder to remove scents from leather and suede gloves, than cotton, nylon and similar material based ones, as a general rule. But you may find that sealing them in a zip-lock bag or other airtight container with a few unscented dryer sheets for a week (or more) can help to lift some of the unwanted scent out. An even more intense option, along the same lines, is to put them in an airtight container (again for at least a few days) with a odour neutralizing "air sponge" type of product (I've even gotten unwanted aromas out of metal jewelry with the latter approach). Wonderful haul! I always jump for joy when you share your latest vintage treasures with us (I'm smitten with that beautiful Coro dove brooch and the super elegant navy pumps).
Thank you Jessica! It's odd that before all of this excellent advice I hadn't even thought about trying to get the smell out of the gloves, but I am seriously going to give these tips a try because it is just too strong! I am so used to just being able to wash gloves that I just got stuck thinking of how to "wash" leather, since I've never done it before. Thank you for the tips I will give it a try!
You look amazing as always and shop as much as you want! I LOVE these hauls. It's educational, how else would I know what to look for. (And happy Holidays to you) ☺️♥️
I’m so grateful to you for your Royal Vintage recommendation, I’m a size 10 1/2 and have a hard time finding period shoes. I just bought my second pair 😄 And btw between your brows and haircut you have totally found and nailed your new look for 2019😉 Thank you love
I love those black 1920s shoes. I bet they look great with so much of your things. Do you happen to remember the color of lipstick and brand that you have on? It's stunning.
Thanks Lara! It was probably Coloupop's liquid matte lipstick in the shade Ribbon, which is no longer available. I have the shade Season 10 now which I find to be very close.
@@TheClosetHistorian Why do they do that? Come out with a great color and discontinue it? :-) I'll check it out. I usually do MAC Ruby Woo but it's a bit orange tinted on me. Thank you!
I had leather gloves that I purchased second hand that reeked of perfume. I filled socks with baking soda and fresh coffee grounds and tucked them inside the gloves and placed the whole thing in a ziplock bag for a few weeks. It removed most of the smell and left the gloves smelling much fresher. I use this technique with thrifted shoes or un-washable items and it works a treat.
I have to get new/fresh baking soda because I tried locking them in a tuperware with baking soda for a few days but I think the baking soda was possibly reeeally old so it didn't help! Thank you for the tips, I'll keep trying ;)
What’s funny is I was last night (it’s like 5:20 am now) I was watching this video in Walmart out loud on my phone (because I left my head phones in the car) and I was wearing a late 40sish looking purple skirt and a white turtle neck sweater. With purple eyeshadow, purple scarf, red lips and white circle earrings. My whole outfit wasn’t vintage (expect the earrings and scarf) but it looked vintage. And while I was watching I got a couple stares at my outfit haha. But it really doesn’t bother me because I got like 4 compliments all day from my outfit! Which was super fun! Anyways I just finished the video now and thought you’d like to here that! Also I loved the video! 😊💖
Thank you Brandy! Sounds like a super cute wintry look! I really don't think things have to be "true vintage" to look vintage. Gotta get the look however we can out here ;)
I really love the black smelly gloves 🤣😅 and the lime green ones ..beautiful. The freezer is mostly for killing off any bugs/moths in vintage and antique clothing I believe. I have tried quite a few things now with these gloves and am about to give up and just buy a different pair of black leather gloves!
Oooh the Vera scarf! I love Vera scarves. That one is so vivid too! Such a pretty yellow. I have several Vera scarves myself. There's just something about their patterns that I really enjoy. I love your taste in general but I'm a lurker. I rarely comment. Just had to pop out for Vera I guess lol

I'd try to close the offending gloves in a box with those odour absorbing jelly thingies for cabinets (English, Stella!) or even unscented cat litter, it should help reducing the smell. I’ve been looking for navy shoes, too. I don’t know why they’re in such short supply these days. Very nice thrift haul!!!

It is definitely the leather piece of it that is tripping me up, but I have gotten so many great tips that one of them is bound to do the trick!
Oh and the Coro dove is 1940's vermeil and is worth about $100

Get a bag of activated charcoal for the smelly gloves. I have successfully treated some really stubborn smells.
They are sitting locked up in a container with baking soda currently, but if that doesn't help I'll certainly be try all these other hacks!
You really look phenomenal in fur!

I'm totally going to try this!
