Loving this series! I especially appreciate the effort it takes to add the "lookbook" portion to your haul videos. (Instead of other hauls where the styling ideas are mentioned, but not shown). Ok, the green "aunt shirt" is my fave & a TOTAL HIT, along with all the ways you styled it! 👍✨
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Guuuurl you have opened my eyes to the potential of dad and auntie shirts! I can normally see loads of potential in non vintage items that can be styled that way but never shirts, being larger busted I had never gone into those sections but they way you've shown it here I am in love! And what's even better? We have 3 huge warehouse style thift stores in the city I live, I feel the need to go hunting!
No indeed thank you for your lovely comment! :) I have a 42" bust (36DD) and I never used to wear button downs as I thought they didn't "work" on me, but I find the key for me is to just focus on the fit through the bust and tuck any resulting excess around the waist into something that holds any extra fullness at bay, like my skirt waistband (or tucked into my shape-wear/spanx underneath my skirt which really holds things nice and tucked).
@@TheClosetHistorian Hi there! I just found your channel, and I am loving your narration and explanations of the pieces and the outfit styling. I am a thrift and vintage shopper, as well as a sometime sewist. My question (as curvy & busty gal) is around tying button-up shirts at the waist. Do you find that the tied-up blouse rides up as you move during the day? and if so do you have any solutions? Thanks so much!
Didnt she just...I know I am late to the party...story of my life but all her videos are worth watching because she's obviously got visualisation skills I just was born lacking!
You are addicting me to Hawaiian shirts! Well, and looser button-ups generally. I've always had fit problems with them, but somehow hadn't tried styling them tied at the waist since like.....the actual 90s. You have shown that they fit right into a 40s-50s wardrobe that way!
You made me laugh with the camp counselor shorts, since I actually had those as a camp counselor in the 90s. They are also stain resistant if you are clumsy like me.
love this video!!!!! Your ad lib narration is soooooo delightful, filled with dry wit and gentle sarcasm. I all but fell to the floor at your wondering about camp counselor shorts since you “don’t go outdoors and don’t like children”. Confession: sometimes i just listen to your monologues as they are always so funny!!!!!! LOVE LOVE everything you’re doing, buying and styling.
I just wanted to leave a quick comment letting you know that I absolutely adore your personality and your channel is awesome! I’ve only come across you in the last few weeks and I’ve binge watched all your videos from both your channels lol Your gorgeous pastel eye look here is lovely too, you look beautiful as always. Loved this haul and you’ve given me some fashion inspiration! ❤️ xx
That green blouse is LIFE!!! I totally get where you're coming from with what to pair it with! Styling on point as per doll ...Love that shoe scarf too! Xx
Yes, please! I sing in a theater vocal group, and this year is our 10 year anniversary! I plan on coming out after our premiere all decked out in gala attire (even if no-one else does. I am already the weird retro gal, so I’m just gonna go with it). I neeeed inspiration! Seeing how you pair thrifted items helps so much! I love thrifting but sometimes have such a hard time making up outfits. Makes me want to go thrifting today
Omg the green blouse....I was trying to think what you reminded me of, and then you said Grease and you reminded me of Rizzo in the blouse and blank pants 😂
It's great your town has a nice vintage shop. Sometimes when the racks are over stuffed here in the Upper South, I lose patience to look. It's a sensory overload for my brain. So glad you can do it though because what a haul you have. Yay. I like the dark brunette to your hair too! Keep up the fun vintage look :)
Wow Bianca, you are the styling queen! The part of my brain that could come up with styling options for that lime blouse is quite absent.. but there you go and look fabulous in it! Another brilliantly interesting vid, thanks for all the effort to produce such entertaining and high quality content.
Just found you today, subscribed. Thank you,TH-cam recommendations! Got so nervous with the makeup and red lip so close to the white, lol. That green shirt with the tiki/Hawaiian skirt is amazing! You are presh and beyond talented!
So so soooo excited about possible thrift flip videos! Loving those 80’s does Art Deco earrings and man do I need to find a Hawaiian shirt in one of my favorite colors soon so I can wear them! I used to...but big busts and buttonups don’t always mix so well. I think I am at the point in my sewing where I can close up buttonholes and make new ones in the right for me spots and just move the buttons...so here is hoping that works out well in the future lol and I so hope I find a Hawaiian shirt for my wardrobe soon
Thank you! I have a larger-ish bust myself (36 DD, 42") and find the key for me really is just buying the shirts in a larger size to fit my bust and then because I tuck them in or tie the shirts most of the time, the extra fullness at the waist just gets wrangled in by my waistband.
I LOVE that green “aunt” shirt - looks fantastic with your styled ensembles. The “found” brother’s old pants are adorable!! They seem to go with everything!
I'm excited for the purple and green print dress refashion! I love refashioning 80s dresses into skirt and top combos, I've created entire vacation capsule wardrobes with them in the past.
You look GREAT in the swimsuit! You really open up my mind to so many things that I wouldnt normally think of, the Hawaii shirts being one...of course as soon as I see you wearing one it makes sense...great looks, great finds...you were on a real roll here!
Bianca! Oh my god thats so crazy! I have that same black birds of paradise dad shirt you were showing! My mom got it for my younger brother but he never wore it so I snatched it after I watched your dad shirt video. If you make a video about it that would be so amazing. Thank you so much for the great content!
These were all great outfits. You have a good eye in the thrift stores for taking modern clothes and giving them a vintage look. Really enjoy your videos!
Love the earrings & the scarves. I stole my dad's old 60s jeans back in the 80s & wore them capri with his summer shirts just like that! (80s fashion wasn't what people think either). Silk scarves are my fave finds, but it's much harder to find the larger square ones than the standard ones. I found 1 large size; black gold & cream design surrounded by animal print; label said silk but didn't feel like it. Still it was big, cute & cheap, so I bought it intending to test the fibres myself. While laundering the scarf I saw writing on the pattern, 'Hermes' in small letters. Then while hanging it out to dry, I realised the central point of the design was a tiger - surrounded by leopard print. I truly LOLed & decided there was no need to test the "silk" fibres. Glad I'd bought it before seeing its "Hermes" credentials, as it still makes me chuckle.
The Thrift Gods were definitely with you! I love the green Auntie shirt, the earrings, the Brother jeans, the Aloha shirts, and the silk scarves... basically I loved everything! I collect vintage silk scarves, so those always make me happy. I love how you show the items you purchased and how you styled them.
I love this so much! You have such a wonderful eye for finding the "diamonds in the rough" for vintage-inspired outfits. May I ask what fabric content of the black circle skirt; it has such wonderful drape and swirl-ability?
Thrifting your parents closet is the best! I got a pair of actual denim, 80s, acid wash mom jeans that my mom just kept from when she was in High School!
Wonderful finds! That swimsuit is perfection on you, and I completely get the 'matronly' aunt blouse restyled. The safari short fit well, but such an unfortunate color, they wash you out completely. A dark khaki green would be great on you! I love your styling videos, looking forward to the next one!
I don't know if you see comments a year later when these pop up but I love that green blouse. Also , I often wear the hardly worn shirts and pants my sons wore in high school with some taking in and shortening.👍
WOW! Love the green blouse/tropical skirt outfit! Gorgeous! Yes, please, more Hawaiian shirt videos! I love watching the thrift flips and would love to see some from you!
Whenever you make haul videos I just never want them to end because I love seeing how you style everything! Such inspiration!!! :D Plus it's nice to feel like sitting with another vintage friend getting excited about new goodies ^-^
Loving your thrift hauls (keep them coming)! I love seeing what others thrift especially vintage, which is what I thrift for all the time. You inspire me so much with your styling! I almost died when you said you were going to cut a skirt out of that dress! I literally said NO!" outloud but was relieved when you said you will make a bolero of the top 😊 Keep up the great work!
Winners (Tjmax) and Marshalls have a bunch of Levi jeans the popular 501 and mom jeans. My mom gets hers there and they vary between 28-39 CAD. And they are brand new. Hope this helps. 💜☺️
Love all your styling videos. I am now a convert to hawaiian shirts - I never would have thought!! You have a great pair of pins and look amazing in the swimsuit and shorts btw.
Why am I binge watching you? Lol I don’t have the exact style as you but I do love a lot of the styles you have I am more of 80s 90s type but I see a lot of that mixed with yours ....loving it!!! New subscriber!
You should also check the men's section when you're looking for jeans! You might already, but if not you should give it a try. Obviously men's jeans are cut different than women's, but you can find more Levis and I've found a few pairs that work for me ☺
I think you are sooo funny. I laugh every video. I also just love watching your videos. They are fantastic. My favourite outfit today was the safari shirt and Ann Taylor pants and the Hawaiian shirt with black swimsuit. Totally FAB!!! However you are drop dead gorgeous and can wear anything well. I would love to see a video on a safari lookbook.
I'm not sure if it's your perfect figure or your great eye for styling, but every piece you show looks great! I've never considered buying a Hawaiian shirt, but now I'm dying to find one on my next thrift outing
Have you had any issues with men’s shirts not fitting super well and you have to tailor them? Such as it being too wide in the waist area or too long to tuck in, or arms are too big. I did pick up a men’s tuxedo shirt (after seeing a really cute photo of Bardot in the early sixties wearing one with a polka dotted scarf) at the thrift store, took out sleeves, made armholes smaller, then gave the sleeves a slight gather before re-attaching. I haven’t yet messed with the rest but I think I need to shorten it in order to wear it slipped inside my skirts.... Would love to see you repurpose some thrifted clothes like the 80’s dress (which brought me back to my high school years...👀).
I haven't had any trouble with the shirts I have found/bought being too much too tuck in for me, I usually can just tuck and smooth all the excess waist area boxiness into my skirt waistband. That said, most of the ones I get I do still find in the women's section, but the boxy aloha shirts tend to be just as boxy in the women's and men's versions I have. I have never tried a men's cotton traditional button down though which sounds more complex!
I'd love to see a re-styling / transformation video for that dress. I love the print, and I really believe you could make a little skirt-bolero or even skirt- croptop ensemble out of it!
I love how you can pull off those Hawaiian shirts! I keep picturing my ex husband wearing them 365 days a year and cannot bring myself to get one, lol :)
the "camp counselor shorts" really hearken back to the days when i was a first grader who badly wanted to join the girl scouts so i could wear the uniform...looks like 20-something me hasn't really changed at all because i'm loving that look
The tulip print 80's coton dress is spooktacular and will look amazing as a 50's/40's transformation. I am so jealous about the thrift stores finds. I live in a non thrifty town in the uk and it's so much like hard work to find anything nice in thrift stores. I go religiously weekly into every store in my area and It's once every 2 months I find something worthwhile.
I found even in London (I studied there for a bit ages ago) that the charity shops never seemed to have good stuff! And then the vintage shops were so pricey! The US does have pretty epic thrift shops so I know I'm lucky :)
@@TheClosetHistorian It's because in the uk people now only give away their cheap throwaway clothes to the charity shops . Anything vintage will be skimmed of by those who know what they are looking at or people sell it themselves on ebay. I think the standard of what's sold as vintage is also going down. It's now mostly 60's and 70's artificial fibres . You have to pay through the nose for the pristine 50's dresses and the 40's wool suits. After all it's a dwindling stock and most clothes do not survive 50 plus years of modern washing and wear and tear.
Your eye makeup is STUNNING!! I am so glad that I found your channel. Your style inspires me to reimagine my closet and try new things! Also I would love to know what you used in your inner corner! I love your makeup lately (:
Thank you Leah! I have a lot of things on in my inner corner here, The Crab loose pigment from Colourpop, Urban Decay's heavy metal glitter liner in Distortion, and also some bigger flake iridescent loose glitter I had in my stash of makeup :)
Yess I totally get the mom jeans struggle -.- I can't find them anywhere, especially not in my size. Though sometimes I find almost-mom-jeans in the mens section
Great finds! And exciting future video news :) About silk scarves, or silk items in general, you wouldn't know how to mended them? If you do, I'd be very interested in seeing a video on that topic. I've had some luck in finding silk items. A wonderful blue silk blouse with tiny white dots that has, unfortunately, gotten a small tear near a seam, and a nice beige-y coloured scarf that has a small hole, from a pin I think. Google hasn't led me to any greater knowledge on how to mend them... I know enough not to use my normal mending methods of nail polish =D
Thank you Anna! I don't know much (or anything really) about darning, which is how you can close up holes in things, but generally I will just use tiny hand sewing stitches to fix things myself. They do have a "proper" version of the nail polish trick out there in fabric shops too, a substance called fray check with stops edges from fraying as well.
Another great haul. I'm super jealous of your thrift stores. You find the best stuff. I never thought of taking the top off a dress, I'm not a seamstress by any stretch of the imagination, but I think I can pull it off. I love that color lipstick. Is it Colour Pop? What shade is it?
The bathing costume looks stunning on you .Not many people suit the leg style of the bather but you ,definitely,do. Is it new or vintage. How do you wash your silk blouses and scarves .You have a fabulous, presenter voice.
Thank you Maureen! The swimsuit is just a modern reproduction one from Amazon. I just hand wash my silk scarves in a bowl of lukewarm water with a tiny bit of delicate detergent, swirl them around a bit and then hang them to dry outside. It is very dry here in Colorado so things dry quickly outside in the breeze :) Blouses I haven't actually attempted yet!
"Camp-Counselor Shorts" Safari wear. I am getting Howard Carter vibes ( I mean this in the best way). Chic archaeologist in the field. You know, from dig site to press conference to meeting with financiers. Yes?
Also your swimsuit outfit, dayum gurl! You be lookin cute af x
Ah thank you! It's just from Amazon ;)

Omg those gold 80s earrings are everything
I'd love to see a re-styling / transformation video for that dress. I love the print, and I really believe you could make a little skirt-bolero or even skirt- croptop ensemble out of it!
I hope to soon! I'll show what I do to transform it in a thrift flip video for sure :)
I did girl scouts for a while as a youngin but I don't remember there being cute shorts, just weird vests ;) but also cupcakes so
I love the thrill of the hunt too!
SueMe recommended your channel on her episode anout binge-worthy videos. You are a doll!
If go thrifty in my mom closet . I would end up be dressing like a hippie . 😂😂😂
Hawaiian!!! Love the look, I’ve been on the hunt for more as well!
Thanks Tamra!
TheClosetHistorian I may have to pick up some of their loose pigments on my next colourpop journey. Thanks so much!!
You have turned me on to Hawaiian shirt. I wore a great outfit with the Hawaiian shirt as a cover up. You got me going!
Yess I totally get the mom jeans struggle -.- I can't find them anywhere, especially not in my size. Though sometimes I find almost-mom-jeans in the mens section
I have been told I need to wander over there!
How well I know the thrill of the thrift hunt! I love high-waisted pants.
Would love to see flip videos, love this video to. 🙄Girl you are so funny, you always keep me and my daughter laughing, keeps me in a good mood. 🤣
Thank you!
@@TheClosetHistorian your verry welcome
Great finds! And exciting future video news :)
About silk scarves, or silk items in general, you wouldn't know how to mended them?
Thank you Janae! The lipstick is the Coloupop lux lipstick in the shade "evil queen" from the Disney Villains collection :)
@@TheClosetHistorian I knew I recognized that shade. It really is a fabulous color. It's on my Top 10 list of Reds.
I wish I had half the luck thrifting that you do. This stuff is amazing.
Thank you Chae!
"Camp-Counselor Shorts" Safari wear. I am getting Howard Carter vibes ( I mean this in the best way). Chic archaeologist in the field. You know, from dig site to press conference to meeting with financiers. Yes?
Yess! Those blouses get such a bad wrap but they work out great!
Hi, love your makeup and the haul. Thank you for sharing with us . Your so awesome! Thank you
Thank you Brenda!
I totally thrifted that same Goerge Hawaiian shirt. I LOVE it❤❤
I have worn it THREE times this week, granted I was only running out of the house for a quick errand each time, but still!!!
@@TheClosetHistorian Its such a great print👌👌
that dress!! love it but look forward to how you're going to re-purpose the item.
I have to thank you for highlighting the Hawaiian shirts - I never realized how feminine and beautiful they look.
Neither did I! Now I'm hooked!
That's great you could use your brother's pants! The green shirt is my fav.
Great finds!
Opph... That dark green circleskirt - what fabric is that? It is sooo pretty!
Thank you Lena! It's a cotton sateen from Mood fabrics :)
I think I might have a bit of a inconspicuous stroll over to mood fabrics.... 😎🤫
Yes! Hauls! Thank you ❤
