Been running official firmware since 2018 and my screen backlight also failed. I would say it is a problem either with the screen or hardware NOT the firmware. The screen can still be read but replacement is clearly the best option.
I remember when EEVblog reviewed the TS-100 back in the days it only would draw 24 watts max instead of the stated 65 watts. Is this still a problem or does any firmwware fix this? I have my TS-100 sitting on my bench, haven't touched it for years, wondering if anything got this problem sorted out?
@@saiiiiiii1 Of course..and also keep the power on as long as it feels a heat drain..I can say that I did a lot of big ground pads solders without problem..but I'll check that soon..
@@saiiiiiii1 It's taking power when it feels a heat drain. It depends of how big is the surface..mine it's working great, I don't feel any power shortage and I did really massive solderings..power cables for my solar install, huge gauge with no problem at all..see the video a little bit later tonite
OK, it has been 8 months and I love this iron. I added a kind of "collet" (metal collar with a set screw) near the tip of the iron to add more mass and stabilize the temperature, which makes a huge difference when soldering bigger pieces. This was a solid buy and definitely worth the price. With the Ralim firmware, is it possible to set the default starting temperature? I want it to always turn on to 400C. Also, how do you turn this off completely, but while still plugged in? Thanks Again!!! edit: Oh Yeah, Merry Christmas!
i have the same display issue with Ralim right now, but with a stock firmware it works good.. thats only Ralim issue as i can see, so idk what to do =/
I suspected Ralim for making trouble..but , after I changed the display..and for more then one year of using I'm sure Ralim is not the problem...but bad quality display..like I had..
I went to the website mentioned in the manual and got this file TS100 APP V2.18 (zip file). Then, I went to the Github for the latest Ralim file and it is TS100 APP V2.14.1 Does this mean that the one from the manual is newer? Is there a difference? Mine just arrived yesterday, so I am trying to figure all this out now. THANK YOU for this video!
Ralim can go up to 450 Celsius...I didn't find any other improvement over the stock firmware except fancier display and menus..but 50 degrees higher is ok sometime...also Ralim can let TS to manage the power supply..let's say how many LiIon cells in a battery and the disconnecting voltage..well..I'm using the latest from Git..until now is ok..
Amazing man , that's great , I am using the original firmware cause I was afraid of that trouble with the ralim also , good to know, I'll give it a try
Thank you very much for the complete run through on this great soldering iron! You helped me out a lot. 👍👍
Nice to hear that! Thank you too
Thank you so much for breaking it down!
Hope it helps
thank you man, your guide helped me
Glad I could help.

Right!

Try the Pinecil. I'm going to get one soon. Haven't had the TS100 but I've seen these display issues. Hopefully the pinecil one is better quality.
I'm looking for..thanks!

Ya I don't think you can go wrong with the pinecil I thought about ordering one but I have a ts100 and don't really need it
@@james10739 With how cheap they are and how frequently they're out of stock. I'd get one sooner rather than later. Have a good spare I suppose.
Interesant nu am incercat !
It's ok, rise the temperature to 450C..but I do not recommend
I saw the latest version is from 2021 and I have had mine with the firmware for probably 3 or 4 years I was wondering if anything changed
Not sure..I'm using a GItHUb software..not the original..
thank you very much
Glad to help!

I'll do a power test and will see.. There are many fakes
@@viocaia it only drew full power while heating up. But not later on when being cooled down by high thermal mass pads for example

@@viocaia so there was no evident limitation at 24 watts?

Yes RAlim starting with the preset temperature..400..even 450! To turn of..in fact to stop the heat just press A+B in the same time..
