Love my ts100! Only had it a couple months but it’s helped build 3 rigs and make a ton of repairs. Now I get to pimp it out lol. About to replace my case to the clear one as I cracked my stock black one. And yes that’s my fav tip as well. It was the second til I bought and prolly the last. I’ve built a micro with it and a couple 5 inch rigs on the same tip. Love the size of it.

I bought the TS100 in july, paid € 49. Took more than two months to reach Belgium. I installed the ralim firmware v 2.05.01, released on august 2, so a new release should be imminent. It is a nice tool. I power it up with 18 cells 18650 in a 6S3P configuration. Heats in seconds.

I use a similar tip on my big, old 60 watt Aoyue 9378 soldering station. I call the "the hoof."
You can use the big cylinder edge for XT60 connections, the foot of the hoof for medium-sized pads on ESCs and whatnot, and you can use the edge of the foot for rather tiny pads. You are correct. It is extremely versatile!

The Hakko T12 tips with a 3D printed adapter for the Hakko grip are the best tips for the TS100 👍🏼
About a shit ton more options for tips as well 👍🏼👍🏼
Also, small pitch chisel tips are the industry standard in every other PCB component level work other than in FPV lol

For those that are comparing and commenting about the TS80 and are considering the TS80 over the TS100:
Unfortunately, as some have suggested, the TS80 will NOT run off of a USB port on laptops because many will not provide enough output power. When you plug it in and power it on, it will say "low voltage".
Similar to the TS100, what you will need with the TS80 is a seperate power source, either the wall jack / USB adapter that comes with the TS80, or a portable USB power source, or a spare laptop power supply with a converted adapter to plug into the TS80 to power it.
Although I like the form factor and shape of the TS80, and the tool-less tip removal connectivity, you also have to consider buying and / or carrying an extra power source for the TS80 just like for the TS100. Also, with the exception of a rechargeable USB power bank, all the other power options for the TS80 have to be plugged into a wall, which means that despite the smaller size and cool form factor, you really don't gain anything (such as portability) over the TS100. While the TS80 can get adequately hot for most jobs, the advantage of the TS100 is the greater voltage range as well as a higher peak voltage. The latter allows for you to keep the tip hotter and to not cool off as fast as the TS80 when doing larger connections or when doing any rework or cleanup.
With the TS100, you can get a 3D printed adapter that will allow you to attach Hakko grip near the end, that also provides a built-in stand, which is pretty damn cool option. Also, with the TS100, you have a variety of tip options, and can even use Hakko tips in it as well, but at the time of writing, I am unsure about different types of tips for the TS80, although they may be working on them.
Because of these factors, you are probably still better off going with the TS100 (at least for now) instead of the TS80. The TS80 is a great iron, but its greatest weakness is the feature set, power options, voltage range, and success of the TS100.

I keep seeing this on sale and keep trying to convince myself I need to spend money on one because I love electronic gadgets and soldering, but my basic 'brick' powered 48watt iron has done me so well, dead simple to use; power switch and temperature dial, and have only had to replace the main wand part once in the past 10 years.
Maybe when I get to the stage of needing to do on site repairs I'll be able to convince myself I need it :)

So again, thank you! BTW, I was very shocked to hear you lost your 'tools' when exiting China as I never had an issue when I brought out a bundle of tools, i.e; a couple of drills, socket kit, multi-meter, and screwdriver kits. But they were in the 'Checked In' bags rather than 'Carry On'...maybe that was the difference?

I thought mine wouldn't turn on but it was just not displaying anything. Pressing buttons will bring the screen to life. Every thing seems to work then however some of the menus are glitchy specifically Check boxes. I've given up on the logo for now and just flashed the basic firmware. I'm beginning to think new models have issues with the logo cuz I've tried about everything. The new firmware is great and the logo is just for show. I'll be watching the github to see if this is adressed.
