I believe Dr. Fuller is accurate. I saw much of what he speaks of in the large SBC 'church' I used to attend. Their obsession with "seeker sensitivity" and worldly appeasement got progressively worse.

Sobering discussion from Russell and Jon today. And as we know from the Scriptures, the last great occurrence before the Lord calls His people home is the Great Apostasy. We are now well into that phase. So all true believers, recipients of the Holy Spirit, must be prepared and doing all they can to tie up any loose Spiritual ends, while the opportunity remains. The trump will sound soon, it must sound soon. Woe to all who are left behind.

Francis Schaeffer, in his last book, "The Great Evangelical Disaster," said that the Southern Baptist Convention was in the same shape now (now being 1984) that the mainline denominations were in in the 1920s and '30s. 37 years later...

@@Richardcontramundum That's the rub. I wrote a paper on the mainlines in grad school. The liberals split from the conservatives at the Kennedy election, which was meaningful, because the reason for the older anti-catholicism (in context) was because of the hierarchies trying to turn all Protestant nations since the Reformation. Vatican I was anti-Democratic, etc. My point is that Kennedy said he would not put Vatican above US loyalty and liberal Democrats went with it. Their culture was changing. The two turning states were W. Va. and Texas. Conservative Protestants went more solidly conservative during Reagan's time, though by then things went more libertarian.
Culture is critical for the Church. But, one should not chase trains. It is very important to hold it together.
Nationally, we are headed toward a civil war or national divorce. You will find churches splitting like they did at civil war, if this does happen.

If you're a Calvanist you obviously shouldn't be troubled. God decreed this to be, right? God commanded all these "leaders" to sin and it will reveal His glory, right? God "decreed" that these men sexually take advantage of these people, right? God is shaping these events by His absolute sovereignty, correct? Pretty sick god.....
Pretty sick doctrine if you ask me. It is Calvanism that is the poison. When you have a low standard of sin, something God HATES, and a low standard of holiness, something God DEMANDS, then you'll get exactly this kind of putrid unholy church activity.
If I were you I would start watching Soteriology101. There are other theologies that actually make Biblical sense.

@@redfaux74 Will God eventually judge sinners and Satan as Revelation explains? If so what's holding him back now? Or in other words, what are his reasons for allowing things to be as they are? If he can, and in fact will do something about evil, why hasn't he done something already?
If you give any biblical and reasonable explanation for this than the "problem of God permitting evil" or "willing" it is solved either way theologically(even for the Calvinist). Your misconception seems to be that you don't have the same problems to deal with.
How easily can objections be made about a God who allows evil for any reason... or how easy can objections be made about God creating a world in which there is no "purpose" to suffering or evil if in fact he has not purposed it. If you were actually engaging with hopeless, lost, dying sinners on a regular basis you would clearly know that their are dissatisfied equally so despite whatever theology is given them. In other words, people see a monster for a God either way. At the end of the day your little rebuttal against our friend is exactly like the kinds of rebuttals made against every other alternative. You should have made a biblical effort to critique him rather than the silly one that was put forth.
Furthermore, Soteriology 101 has served to solidify my convictions in Calvinisim. As a calvinist, I recommend it actually! Because I know that a careful listener with an open Bible can very well see inherent contradictions and inconsistency within the theology they promote.

    • @redfaux74
      @redfaux74 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@isaias9516 - Jesus Christ has already judged the Devil and sin. Have you ever heard of the Old Testament? Adam and Eve? Rev has nothing to do with the year 2020 something. All sin has been judged. We're just waiting for Jesus to return for everyones paycheck. "The wages of sin is death."
Why would Christianity have a problem with evil? Atheism is the one that has the problem with evil. Atheism can expect nothing but the worst case scenario if atheism is true. They deserve the worst kind of cancer, parasites, disease and to be eaten alive slowly by something with bigger, sharper teeth than them. They choose to reject the greatest good, they get the ultimate evil.
Jesus came to redeem those who choose good, to kneel at His feet, His plan. He healed the lame, sick, raised the dead and preached "Repent, the kingdom of heaven is at hand." God told the children of Israel "I set before you good and evil, life and death. Choose life." It's very simple.

I attended SBTS from 1989-1992 with the School of Church Music. Thankfully Roy Honeycutt was the President and standing firm against the onslaught of the fight to remove him. He retired after I graduated. I said when Al Mohler was installed that he was going to be horrible.
I had watched the “conservative movement” from my SBC church and said then that it was all about power and money. I didn’t care what was said. Well, how did that turn out?
We were taught while at SBTS to give back once we graduated so others could attend as we did. The second year I told the student calling to take me off the list. I could see what was coming. Mohler destroyed the School of Church Music. We received very well rounded education by professors who knew what church music was and were out serving local churches. Then the seeker sensitive movement began along with the praise band movement. There was no way I could support that.
So sad to see what has become of the SBC and SBTS. These men came in under the guise of “restoring inerrancy” when it was nothing except getting into power and having control of the money.
Sadly, I was right. Said too that of the SBC went done the road of the Presbyterians and Methodists the SBC was done as well as the American mainline churches.
Want a Bible teaching and preaching church? Find a non-denominational church. This is from a born, raised and educated SBC person. Just so sad to see what has happened over the past 30 years.

This is what is so sad about the churches which stay in despite the manifest corruption. All they have to do is go to the trouble of finding another way to do missional giving outside throwing money blindly at the SBC cooperative fund. Why are good churches staying ? Ignorance ? Rationalization ? Tradition ? Misplaced optimism ? If you can figure it out, let me know. I continue to try to get my pastor to see the problem, sadly in the South of the US, nearly all the Baptist churches are SBC. Those that are not are almost universally KJV only, which in my view is a heresy which is almost on par with those promoted by the SBC. Yet, my local church is excellent modulo it's involvement with the SBC. I hate that we have only one reasonable choice for Baptist churches here and it necessarily associated me with the SBC. So, I continue to try to educate and motivate so hopefully my church eventually sees the light and leaves the SBC.
I will admit, if the SBC would drift very liberal more quickly it would hasten or exit. It seems this EC investigation may well promote an acceleration of the corruption. Surely there must exist a level of outright false teaching and wordly behavior which will be a stench to the nostrils of my church. I hope that it the SBC is to fall, it falls quickly.

Jesus told Peter to build a Church and the Gates of Hell will Never prevail against that Church
(Mathew 16:18). Jesus didn’t tell his Apostles to write a New Testament. The Bible was produced by the Church at the Council at Rome over 350 years after Jesus died.

Tertullian Prescription Against Heretics ch 32 (160- 240 ad)
"Where was [the heretic] Marcion, that shipmaster of Pontus, the zealous student of Stoicism? Where was Valentinus, the disciple of Platonism? For it is evident that those men lived not so long ago,--in the reign of Antoninus for the most part,--and that they at first were believers in the doctrine of the Catholic Church, in the Church of Rome under the episcopate of the blessed Eleutherus, [the 13th Bishop of Rome 174-189AD] until on account of their ever restless curiosity, with which they even infected the brethren, they were more than once expelled
Tertullian Prescription Against Heretics ch 35 (160- 240 ad)
Catholics appeal always to evidence traceable to apostolic sources.
Tertullian Prescription Against Heretics ch 36 (160- 240 ad)
Catholics never change the Scriptures, which always testify for them
Tertullian Against Marcion Book 4 ch 5 (160-240 ad)
By the rule of antiquity, the Catholic Gospels are found to be true, including the real St. Luke's. Marcion's only a mutilated edition. The heretic's weakness and inconsistency in ignoring the other Gospels. On the whole, then, if that is evidently more true which is earlier, if that is earlier which is from the very beginning, if that is from the beginning which has the apostles for its authors, then it will certainly be quite as evident, that that comes down from the apostles, which has been kept as a sacred deposit in the churches of the apostles.
Tertullian Against Marcion Book 4 ch 4 (160-240 ad)
that portion of it which we alone receive is so much older than Marcion, that Marcion, himself once believed it, when in the first warmth of faith he contributed money to the Catholic church, which along with himself was afterwards rejected, when he fell away from our truth into his own heresy
Tertullian Against Marcion Book 4 ch 9 (160-240 ad)
These types signified that a man, once a sinner, but afterwards purified from the stains thereof by the word of God, was bound to offer unto God in the temple a gift, even prayer and thanksgiving in the church through Christ Jesus, who is the Catholic Priest of the Father.

And withal, after such audacious acts, they, lost to all shame, attempt to call themselves a Catholic Church!
Caius Fragments ch 3 par 4 (180-240 ad)
The Epistle of Jude, indeed, and two belonging to the above-named John--or bearing the name of John--are reckoned among the Catholic epistles. And the book of Wisdom, written by the friends of Solomon in his honour. We receive also the Apocalypse of John and that of Peter, though some amongst us will not have this latter read in the Church.
Caius Fragments ch 3 par 3 (180-240 ad)
He wrote, besides these, one to Philemon, and one to Titus, and two to Timothy, in simple personal affection and love indeed; but yet these are hallowed in the esteem of the Catholic Church, and in the regulation of ecclesiastical discipline. There are also in circulation one to the Laodiceans, and another to the Alexandrians, forged under the name of Paul, and addressed against the heresy of Marcion; and there are also several others which cannot be received into the Catholic Church, for it is not suitable for gall to be mingled with honey.
Origen Commentary on the Gospel of John Book I ch 23 (185-254 ad)
And in his Catholic Epistle John says that He is a Paraclete for our souls with the Father, as thus: "And if any one sin, we have a Paraclete with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous,"
Origen Commentary on the Gospel of John book 6 ch 18 (185-254 ad)
As to the descent into Hades, we read in the sixteenth Psalm, "Thou wilt not leave my soul in Hades," and as for the journey in prison with the Spirit we read in Peter in his Catholic Epistle,
Origen de Principiis book 3 preface (185- 254ad)
Let such things, however, be lightly esteemed by him who is desirous of being trained in divine learning, while retaining in its integrity the rule of the Catholic faith.
Dionysius the Great Extant Fragments epistle 11 par 3 [190-265 AD]
Wherefore he also became an enemy to His Catholic Church; and besides that, he alienated and estranged himself from the mercy of God, and fled to the utmost possible distance from His salvation...
Dionysius the Great Extant Fragments epistle 6 par 1 [190-265 AD]
And consider the seriousness of the matter. For, indeed, in the most considerable councils of the bishops, as I hear, it has been decreed that they who come from heresy should first be trained in Catholic doctrine, and then should be cleansed by baptism from the filth of the old and impure leaven. Asking and calling him to witness on all these matters, I sent letters.
Dionysius the Great Epistle 6 (190-265ad)
For, indeed, in the most considerable councils of the bishops, as I hear, it has been decreed that they who come from heresy should first be trained in Catholic doctrine, and then should be cleansed by baptism from the filth of the old and impure leaven.
Cyprian of Carthage The Seventh Council of Carthage [200-270 AD]
Certain people therefore interpret for themselves ill, when they say that by imposition of the hand they receive the Holy Ghost, and are thus received, when it is manifest that they ought to be born again in the Catholic Church. Then indeed they will be able to be sons of God, as says the apostle: "Taking care to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace."
There is one body, and one Spirit, as ye have been called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God." All these things speaks the Catholic Church. And again, in the Gospel the Lord says: "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit; because God is a Spirit, and he is born of God." Therefore, whatsoever things all heretics and schismatics do are carnal...
...I judge that all heretics and schismatics who wish to come to the Catholic Church, shall not be allowed to enter without they have first been exorcised and baptized; with the exception of those indeed who may previously have been baptized in the Catholic Church, and these in such a way that they may be reconciled to the penitence of the Church by the imposition of hands.
Munnulus of Girba said: The truth of our Mother, the Catholic Church, brethren, hath always remained and still remains with us, and even especially in the Trinity of baptism, as our Lord says, "Go ye and baptize the nations, in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
For if those who are baptized among them obtain by remission of their sins life eternal, why do they come to the Church? But if from a dead person no salvation is received, and therefore, acknowledging their previous error, they return to the truth with penitence, they ought to be sanctified with the one vital baptism which is in the Catholic Church.
      Jader of Midila said: We know that there is but one baptism in the Catholic Church, and therefore we ought not to receive a heretic unless he has been baptized among us;
Felix of Marazana said: There is one faith, one baptism, but of the Catholic Church, which alone has the right to baptize.

As for heresies, they went all out of it, like as unprofitable branches pruned from the vine: but itself abideth in its root, in its Vine, in its charity. I know LifeWay recently sold their brand new headquarters because of financial trouble. But if the financial trouble is because of people stealing millions of dollars than these executives need to go to jail.

Something bad happened in my SBC local church also. About 3 years ago the power dried up in the pulpit. No conviction, no challenging sermons, no real talk about sin being something God hates, or living a holy life, no mention of hell in 5 years except once (and that was very mild, almost apologetic) ..... Nothing but emotional nonsense, love, love, love.
With the election of their new president this year things have only kicked into high gear. You cannot hold any office in our church unless you are fully in the ultra Calvanist far left agenda. They have secret classes only the "elect" are even told about and what they're teaching in them (I guess "God hates some people and wants the majority of people to go to hell") is causing many to abandon the church outright. If you're not of a certain class and easily indoctrinated you're no body, just tolerated. Very sad....
Piper and these ultra 5 point Calvanists are destroying the churches. They are slandering the Word, the character of Christ and His plan of salvation to the world. This doctrine is of the devil and its fruit is unholy and obviously so.

Read "The Forgotten Spurgeon", by Iain Murray... Old school Calvinists such as Charles Spurgeon, and many of the founders of SBC were godly men who paid a big price for standing for the Scriptures in their day. These "new Calvinist" are a different breed, they are compromised in so many ways, almost like they're serving their own agendas under the guise of 'their ministries'... I agree, Piper, Driscoll, Keller, Mahaney, Mohler, and many others have managed to introduce pernicious practices and subvert the churches... and sadly, we have not yet hit the bottom of where this is heading. Beth Moore will take the SBC many fathoms deeper down into the abyss of apostasy.

    • @itsbecklesonutube

Please Note: Being a Calvinist has ZERO to do with being corrupt - sin applies to EVERYONE. Based on your comments, I don't believe you actually understand what the theology behind Calvinism is and as such I would invite you to study a bit about it. You may find your eyes opened and burdens relieved when you understand that the only choice we actually have as regenerated people is which sin we desire to participate in.
These individuals who hold positions of leadership as teachers, preachers, leaders WILL have a much more severe punishment than the people they lead astray. I hope my church leaves the SBC very soon. It sickens me that our amazing church has part (complicit even) in remaining with an entity that is KNOWN to be corrupt and refuses to correct their ways.
Prayer changes things. Please Lord, expel these corrupt leaders from their positions and bring integrity back into leadership for the sake of your people and their fulfillment of the Great Commission and not the great reset. Amen

Why I never received your comment when you wrote it, I have no idea. But I would have responded more promptly had I gotten it a year ago.
I do not expect to see Calvinism in my Bible any more than I do, Mormonism, Buddhism or Wiccan teaching. There is NO book, chapter or verse that deals with Calvinism, indeed every verse of the Word of God profoundly REJECTS Calvinism entirely. Calvinism taints the holiness of a righteous God. It slanders the character of Christ. To think we have no choice in any matter here on earth is a joke since God specifically GAVE us choice. Deut 31:19 Good tells His people to CHOOSE life after giving them both options, blessing and cursing, life and death. God is not a liar. He doesn't give us a command to do anything unless He gives us the ability to fulfill that choice, task.
If we continue the debate you need to understand our friendly discussion will not involve your opinions but scripture only. Show me.... WHERE does the Bible say "we as followers of Christ stay in sin and choose which sins to partake in"? It is not in the Bible. Use a verse to explain your point of view but be sure we will be examining the context. My Bible says the opposite and tells us to reject the world, to live holy and carry your cross daily or you cannot be a disciple of Christ (Lk 9:23 and repeatedin every one of the 4 Gospels, and 1 Pt 1:13-17).
1 Pt 2:1 says we should LAY ASIDE ALL of these evils, not choose which ones we want to play with.

I watch the first 20 minutes and agree with what you’re saying, but where were you guys for the last 20 years when stealth Calvinists were taking over non-Calvinist churches? Don’t you think that the decades of coveting and lying to steal by “conservative“ Calvinists set the groundwork for this?
Over a decade ago, my previous southern Baptist pastor said that in the last two years at his previous pastorate he was aware of about five churches that were split by Southern seminary graduates when the church search committees weren’t careful enough. After he left, the Calvinist intern pastor who teaches at one of our seminaries helped push through a five point Calvinist (with a masters from Southern) who was deceptive about his beliefs.
Calvinists were silent about this for decades, and now are upset when liberals are doing it? If you all had stood up against this when it was to your advantage, we wouldn’t be here. It looks like the golem Calvinists made has now turned on them.
The “only antidote to liberalism“ in the Southern Baptist convention turned out to be the gateway drug to liberalism. Maybe you should reconsider your theology?
