They should consider including a neoprene sleeve, to add some scratch protection while keeping it slimmer than the stock bag.

I have this same kit (except for sight). I fixed my very stubborn pistol grip cap by applying a thin coat of silicone grease to the rubber seals. Now it comes out with ease without compromising its seal. I store a Bore Snake therein.
Also installed a mini piccatinny on the side of the forearm for a mini light.
    Great kit!

Nice, I'd slap a grip on the side, along with the 110 drum for a mg like kit. Think rpk.

No……I just purchased a 2” long 3rd party brand rail, removed the inner liner of the forearm, bolted the rail to the left side of the stalk so that the power button of the flashlight falls right under my thumb, and reassembled the thing.
      Unobtrusive and functional!

Love this 22. This bag and 22 is the ultimate shtf or wilderness survival tool anyone can have. Ruger knocked it out of the park. And the PC carbine take down fits in same bag.

  • @robkcra

A very small amount of silicone grease on the rubber seal of the pistol grip storage lid makes it much easier to get the thing in and out.....without compromising the seal.

I bought the exact model 10/22 and love it. The only difference is mine came with the black stock. I also bought a stainless steel flash suppressor. Not because it's necessary, but since it looks so cool. I also bought a red dot sight and couple of the Ruger BX-25 magazines.

Here in the UK we can have semi auto .22 rim fire, but not center fire, so we can get a 10/22, however, I don't think take down rifles are allowed. We're just as fucked as Australia, so I feel ya pain. You can have pistols in Aus though, right? At least that's something.

@@pricelessppp I was talking about the UK mate, and like I said "I think they are" I've just checked and can't find anything about them specifically on the banned list, so it might be possible, just not popular. Also, politics is a bit different here than the US, if you can imagine that, and both the Conservative party (like your Republicans) and the Labour party (like your Democrats) have been responsible for big gun bans. The Conservatives banned center fire semi auto rifles in 1987 following the Hungerford shooting, and Labour banned all pistols in 1996/97 following Dunblane. I can't speak for Australia, I don't live there.

Thank you very much! I just brought my rifle home from the store today and have been familiarizing myself with both the Ruger 10/22 Takedown instruction manual, as well as the Magpul X-22 BackPacker manual, i.e., Ruger now offers this option sans the backpack carrying case. I watched your video in the midst of reviewing the rifle instructions and albeit, I would have eventually discovered the "grip storage," I actually discovered it while watching your video and the hint/suggestion about easing it out assisted greatly. In short, it does seem to be "air/water tight." In any event, great video - again, thanks!

I had a 10/22 Takedown, but no matter how much I adjusted the barrel to receiver nut per the instructions and forum tips, it would never hold zero. When I looked online in forums, a lot of other people had this problem. However, a co-worker has a Marlin Papoose and it always holds it zero without having to fiddle with it. That's too bad, because I love the 10/22 platform.

You could try using a Hydration pack to store it in. If it holds a 100 oz. bladder it should be big enough to hold the rifle and a couple of mags and some ammo. Depending on the pack, some are just a sleeve to hold the bladder, while others have a pocket or two to hold some snacks or whatever.

Nevermind the shim idea, Ruger already built in the adjustment. There is a knurled ring around the female end of the receiver that the barrel inserts into. You can adjust that by precisely the amount you want to make it super tight or just to take the wiggle out.

Overall, the video is a great overview of the rifle. But... how is the ability to accessorize a rifle a drawback from a cost perspective? If you like the toys, you need to pay for them. It's not fair to judge the cost of the rifle based on after-market options. That's just kind of silly. That's like saying a different rifle with NO options has a price advantage, and that's not true. You don't HAVE to spend an extra dime, but you can.

With the barrel sticking out so far past the stock how are the groupings (barrel harmonics) like to see this rifle shoot 50 yrd groupings

Gary coinmaster I have this rifle with the tactical solutions barrel and a primary arms 22lr scope. The rifle is pin-point accurate at 50 yards with bulk Federal 22lr ammo. It gets boring after a while ‘cause you keep hitting steel/bulls eye. I like this setup so much that I sold the rest of my 22lr rifles. My advise: go for it, but the tactical solutions setup. A little pricey, but worth EVERY penny.

Frank yup - sure does. It even fits the single pocket of the bag when locked in takedown mode which is better then how it fits without it.

What is the brass trigger you have in the 10/22. The one you linked to Midway is the drop on kit, it does not have a brass trigger.

The Hunter stock is for the standard Ruger 10 22 rifle. The barrel doesn't come off and store like this model.

instead of the bag of extra ammo in the butt stock id put a barrel snake for cleaning in the field
fire starter in the pistol grip because water tight....perfect design!
Now it just needs a mora knife out of the fore grip

How much is this for the whole package, stock, rifle etc. I’ve seen them online for $100 - $1,100

    • @RonSpilker
      @RonSpilker 4 ปีที่แล้ว

$100 would be just the stock.
Depends on the configuration. Gallery of Guns has an exclusive that comes with 3 extra magazines and Williams Fire Sights preinstalled. That's about $500 right now.
