Volvo 1800ES Wheel Well Rust Repair Finished, Feb 4 2024

Finally got the last of the wheel well rust repair finished. Fabricated a new reinforcement plate to replace the rusty one, drilled out spots, and welded in the new one. We show every step of the repair here.

Nice repair. You are somewhat frustrated with the rust….but there are plenty worse including mine. Even worse is repairing prior poorly done work or old accident repair. Where did this car spend most of its miles?

Hey, yeah, I’m definitely not happy about rust , as I was told the car was totally rust free . I bought it from Colorado , where I believe it was sold .
At least I haven’t found any accident damage. Especially on a car with welded on front end like the 1800, accident damage can be a nightmare. I did a lot of hammer and dolly work on a Karman Ghia a while back .
My 1800 did have some very poorly repaired rust in the rear quarter panels. They just hacked out lower bits with a torch and freaking brazed on a flat sheet and covered with 1/2” of bondo
