  • The updated Volkswagen Tiguan is here. We recently tested the entry-level Tiguan, but it's this one that has us excited. It's the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSI R-Line - it's like a hot-hatch in SUV clothing.
    Is it any good? Paul Maric hits the road to find out.

      If I was buying one as a family vehicle I’d take the Passat Alltrack especially if you’re carrying a bulky pram in the boot, the Tiguan boot measurement is a bit deceiving as it measures with the rear seat slide all the way forward with no rear legroom and with the boot floor in its lowest setting, in reality the Tiguan boot is smaller than a golf wagon ( I’ve owned both )

    I have this on order and it should be delivered by August. Went for the Sunroof and Sound & Vision pack as well. I chose this because I have another bub on the way so I need a family car, but I don't want the feeling of downgraded performance I'd get by going for something like a RAV4 hybrid, as I'm switching over from a Turbo Diesel Alfa Romeo Giulietta, which I'll be selling. Also, I prefer European styling and refinement, and the VW Travel Assist is supposed to be quite decent at lane centering. I'd value that for long cross-border road trips I like to go on, despite them being riskier to take now because you don't know when and where the next snap-lockdown is going to hit and potentially trap you.

    • @angelisdania1594
      @angelisdania1594 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Order delayed. Semi-conductor shortage affecting 162TSI Tiguans, DSGs, and Harman Kardon speaker systems, so I hit the trifector with my order. There's also delays on the interior leather supply. At this rate I'll be lucky if it arrives by December, but given how we lock down at the cough of a brat, I probably wouldn't be getting much use out of it in the colder months anyway.

    In this price range they could chuck in those animated blinkers like Audi or even Skodas do today. They give much more luxurious impression and I don't think they would have any impact on production cost.

    I really like the exterior of the new tiguan but not so much of the interior. The interior is way too blend and boring for a $60k+ car and i would actually prefer the previous gen interior than this current gen with touch sensitive buttons. Also not sure if its just me but i really dislike the feel of gas pedals on VW cars which just feels way too soft for my taste. I even test drove a golf R before and gas pedal also feels really soft like pressing on a marshmallow. I was in the market to buy a med size SUV and it really just came down to RAV4 and Cx-5 and Tiguan and in the end i choose the Cx-5 as I bought the akera model with the petrol turbo engine which practically saved me $10-12k aud if i were to choose this 162TSI R line Tiguan.
