Best simple golf swing explanation I have seen. Matt’s not trying to sound intelligent like most others, just simple instruction that cuts through all the ‘intelligent’ crap that everyone can utilise. Intelligence through simplicity. Awesome stuff mate !!!!

best golf swing video I have seen. I play occasionally until November of last year when I retired. I began playing and was shooting 75-80 but was hurting my hip. My driver and iron swing were different. Discovered Mr.Short Game and the video made sense. Also the wrist action with starting the downswing stopped my hip front hurting. Just played my first competition with swing adjustments and shot 76 with a 36 on the back. The swing works even at show speeds which allows a good solid drive of about 225 and you can crank it up from there. Thanks Mr Short game.

This changed my golf swing. I’m hitting the ball so far and straight, granted i’m still working out the kink but I went out yesterday and i had 115 in and that’s usually just a stock pitching wedge maybe flighted but i hit it and it carried the green and kicked off the back. That just shows the difference this guy has made in my game. I attribute 90% of my improvement to this guy. Keep teaching man, i couldn’t thank you for everything you’ve helped me with ❤️

I happen to catch this video yesterday before I went to play. I really don't have a method for setting up. I simply "set up" and frankly I'm inconsistent. The 2 set up methods (irons and driver) you showed, (feet together, left hand right hand steps) was unbelievably effective! I was SHOCKED how well this worked. The course I played was a "miss fairway = lost ball". I didn't lose a ball all day! I normally lose 2 or 3 a round. By keeping the ball in play off the tee and hitting more greens = 5 birdies for the day. Thank you!!!

Great tip for set up. I have struggled for 12 months with all sorts of suggestions from a pro re activating hips, hands forward etc. I had started to blame the club (a sure sign of desperation) . I did this yesterday, worked like a dream. Straight, long, less spin, fewer hooks. Higher ball, maybe a little less distance on the real rippers but so much more consistent and generally on average longer. (10 -15 hcp for ref).

Instructors should always explain like this that you never actively think 'hit down on the ball'. Nothing good can come from thinking that while you hit an iron.
you should have been here for hurricane Michael 2 years ago. Man, I live in central Georgia and that thing was still a cat 1.5 when it hit us. I have never been in straight line winds anywhere near like those were. It was insane. I had to just sit out on my screened in porch and smoke my pipe while I watched the show. I was also listening for the giant pine trees right beside my house to start cracking and getting ready to fall. Thank goodness they didn't because they were blowing directly toward my house with my kids inside sleeping. We never get hit with anything that strong and massive here, so it did an immense amount of damage and knocked out the power for nearly our whole town for 3 to 4 days. It was wild and humbling to see how helpless you truly are against the forces of nature. Love your videos Matt.

I have been doing this at the range all week. It helped my iron game 100% super happy. I for the life of me can't do the driver the way you teach. I must be missing some tiny detail. No matter how I set up the club face for the driver, as soon as I do the step step it closes my club face. No matter the spine tilt, and no matter if I try to open the face before the step step, I do nothing but draw. I step by step this video at least 30 times and for the life of me I can't figure out your driver method. My irons are on point now, but not the driver at all. I hope you read this and some how get back to me. I really want to have the same swing mechanic for all my clubs.

Been thinking about taking my driver out of the bag because of how frustrating it is that I can't hit it the way I do every other club in my bag. I can carry my 3 wood off the tee well over 200 yards, dead straight. I can carry my driving iron off the tee around 180-200 yards, dead straight. Everything all the way down to my 58-degree lob wedge flies straight and carries well above average. Every swing I take with my driver? Sliced or topped. I've been looking for a way to adapt my normal swing to the driver and will definitely try these tips as we have pretty much the exact same setup routine as far as gripping the club and lining the ball up in the stance. Where I differ is that I've been lining up the ball off the inside of my lead foot. Also have tried the shoulder tilt but I don't set it up the way you recommend. Can't wait to try this on the range as the only other thing I can think of the try is choking down to give me somewhere between driver and 3-wood length to work with.

The advice on setup in this video is amazing! I've been struggling with inconsistencies in my swing and my ball flights, and I suspected my setup and swing technique. I'd already had some lessons but was going to wait until next season to refresh them since I live in New England and golf season is almost over. I had a pretty rough outing this past Thursday, which was probably going to be my last round of the year. Watched this video Friday at lunch, and then practiced the setup advice from this video at the range and I was consistently making good contact with the ball and crushing it. Decided to go out for 9 holes on Saturday and after a rough first hole I stuck with it and things were finally clicking. I shot my 3rd best score on 9 for the entire year. Definitely going to be using this setup technique going forward!

Great Video!!! I also started to get confused with this hit up and hit down story and pushing your hands forward! I am playing golf for 31 years and my swing just got worse ! In the past I never ever new there was a difference between an Iron and Driver swing only the set up! Thank you for sharing your wonderful golf tips!! Enjoy the rain! 🥰⛳️🏌️‍♀️

I can't wait to try this out I always push my hand forward and try to hit the ball down with my irons, and invariably do the same with my driver, so this change of thought should suit me down to the ground, Thanks mate

Played my best round after watching this video, I’ve heard hit down on the ball with irons for so many years !! Many thanks. FF

The standing feet together really helped with my alignment. Went out and played today and was working on ball shapes. They weren’t all great but it was fun trying to shape shots out there. Thank you for the great vid✌️

I LOVE IT.... I hit my irons very decent, but drives always pull to the right, Can't wait to give this a try.

My pro who I have lessons with told me exactly the same thing. The swing with all clubs are the same. The problems come in once you get your head in front of the ball trying to hit down. Good video.👍🏼

Absolutely love it. I strike my irons pretty well but have always struggled with my driver. Just took a practice swing using that setup & although I didn’t hit anything, it just felt a lot better. Excited to implement this at the simulator this weekend.

I wish I had met someone like Matt when I first became interested in playing golf years ago, someone who explains all the basic concepts of a golf swing in the simplest terms possible and tries to help keep things simple overall.
The first golf instructor I worked with tried to explain all the different parts of the golf swing to from the start, which made me over think every little thing in my swing as a beginner and I never could gain any consistency no matter how much I practiced. Now I have to continually unlearn all those bad habits and just remember to SIMPLIFY!

That disciplined setup is the key 🔑 coupled with hitting up after the ball. I do like how the driver after setup is more behind the ball and then the club face being moved behind the ball gives the correct tilt. Very good ! I do like this simple explanation. I shall indeed practice this.

The setup for the driver was super helpful. I used to tilt my spine and bring my hands forward. I would hit the ground all the time, but I’m hitting a lot better now. Great stuff.
