Hey Thor, love your channel. As a huge High Republic fan who wanted this show to give the era a good live-action debut, I think it’s been real disappointing. One of the weaker aspects that I don’t see anyone discussing is the mischaracterization of Vernestra Rwoh. I understand most casual viewers don’t read the High Republic books, and it’s been 100 years, but Acolyte Vernestra is completely different from book Vernestra. Vernestra would never be this dogmatic and make dumb decisions like she has in the Acolyte, she was a great Jedi prodigy in the books. It’s so frustrating to watch.
so according to the books, She can't be the lord sith or the aprentice? As she is a prodigy couldn't she had been approached by a sith lord and convinced to turn to the dark side?
I absolutely love the George Lucas & much of the EU. Disney had some good projects, but they broke me during Disnsy Plus & Obi Wan. I am neutral or numb emotionally looking at Acolyte & new Star Wars. It's hard to care
Master Cone-Head (sorry not going to attempt to spell it) and the other Jedi seeing a Sith then forgetting about it reminds me of Leia and Obiwan interacting in Kenobi despite the dialogue from ANH suggesting otherwise. They found a lame way to lampshade that and I think we're in for that sort of thing again here. This time I think they'll use the memory-wipe gimmick, a trope we've seen a few times already in Star Wars. This was potentially foreshadowed in Episode 2 when the Jedi caught Qimir. No doubt as part of his act, he begged them not to wipe his memory despite the fact that there was no reason to believe the Jedi would have any interest in doing so seeing as how they were interrogating him. I'm sure Qimir knew the Jedi wouldn't do this but perhaps he's aware that some dark side users have this ability. Whether it ends up being him or his potential master, my guess is that memories will get wiped to avoid breaking canon. Why wipe their memories instead of killing them if they have them in a vulnerable position? I'm not sure. Hopefully this round of lampshading is done better than in Kenobi but I won't hold my breath.
They should have had Yaddle there instead of Ki Adi Mundi. Second the behavior of the Sith is troubling. Darth Bane understood they he couldn't have any of his contacts KNOW he was a Sith. Darth Smiley allows his agents to know he is a Sith, that he is a humanoid, doesn''t kill them, and allows them to operate freely.
That is leaving someone like that masked guy wide open. Man, is that stupid. Yaddle, weren't Kennedyfilm all about adding more women in Star Wars? What happened to that.
To be fair, no one has yet said the word "Sith" that I recall. He's just a Dark Side user who dresses in all-black armor and has a red lightsaber, because all Dark Siders go for Cyber Goth-Punk fashion.
you are the way the jedi dismiss the problems of "return of the sith" like they already know the problem is sith. They don't know, so far they think a Jedi dissident is acting on some kind of revenge. That was invalid criticism. As it is to say Kid Adi Mundi is stupid or is covering things since he still doesnt know. HE IS NOT INVESTIGATING the return of the sith but the Mae killing spree. It's also possible that he doesnt even find out Sith were involved. Specially if everyone dies.
I'm REALLY enjoying this show. I've enjoyed hate watching it (in such a way that gives disney no profit) and I've loved the overwhelming vast majority of the world coming together to point and laugh so hard we collectively pop lungs.
Except the fact that the twins Zabrak mom has pale white skin. If you look at the arms on the sith guy they are pale with what looks like scars probably burn scars.
They have cast Male's for fake outs before look at Black Widow they cast a man ask the Taskmaster body double to throw people off from the fact that it was a woman as a villain.
PLOT TWIST: None of the Three of the Four Jedi are dead, it's a ploy to lure out the Sith. They knew this plot was happening and devised this plan to ACT like they died. They crush the Sith so thoroughly they don't even consider it a revival of the Sith, BOOM canon saved. Ki Adi Mundi will be told of this, he'll tap his fist into his palm and muse to himself "Ah, so the Sith really are still extinct." THE END!
I’m kind of enjoying it. Yeah, the dialogue is clunky at best and I don’t know how they’ll keep continuity with the prequels but it’s a darn sight better than Kenobi or Ahsoka. And I’m invested enough to want to see what happens next.
The show is great. don't let these gerber fed parrots with drool cups take that away from you as they spout regurgitated psuedo reasons why it's "lore breaking" lol what a joke
The Jedi depicted as every organization that tries to cover up its misdeeds in order to save face but ultimately destroys their reputation even worse than it would have been once the coverup is revealed.
Qimir’s features are similar to the mask: look at the similarities in the jawlines, where his eyes would line up to the mask’s eyes, how his hairstyle in the back matches the way the angles of the helmet in the back…
Not sure if it was my eyes but the some of the forest shots looked like they were walking through cheap plastic sets with little to no added detail to make the place actually feel alive. Also that shot of them walking down that big green hill thing, that “grass” or whatever it was just looked like fake green felt that you would see in a pantomime or something. It just looked blatantly fake. And that’s the difference between good production and bad production: attention to detail. But on the flip side it did have a few interesting shots here and there, so cinematography wasn’t too bad. Mae’s 180 felt like it came out of nowhere. Literally. The whole Ki-Adi Mundi thing isn’t the worst thing they could do. His canon birthdate doesn’t have to match his legends one plus as a Cerean we don’t know their lifespan: previously so many characters, particularly non-humans, have been compared to humans and given similar traits. Given the low birth rate of males, having them live longer than humans allows more time for them to potentially sire more sons to carry on a family bloodline. The legends lore remains intact so I’m not going to lose sleep over it. It also felt like last week’s episode is completely unnecessary viewing. It adds nothing to what we already know from being told by Sol. Mae started a fire. Everybody died. The Jedi saved Osha. We got all of that without an entire episode going back to tell us what we know. At the end of the day it’s a piece of fiction and surely there are more important things in our lives. Fans of legends exist. Fans of canon exist. Fans of both even exist. We each like what we like, so I think it’s good to be able criticise just as much as it is to praise a show or film for its merits and its flaws. If the story, once finished, is unsatisfactory then I’ve still got my Darth Plagueis novel to read or listen to on audible.
Actually the Shadow of Omens shows us a powerful Sith can release a force aura do potent, less skilled Jedi would instinctively pull out their lightsaber to attack. It's a way to confuse their senses. In the Q&A, she didn't tell the Council about the dark Jedi because she suspected one of them might be working for the Sith. 21:00 In the Legacy of Ki Adi Mundi, it's shown he's always been an agent for the Sith. It's why he keeps insisting the Sith are extinct. He only turned on Palpatine when he nearly died against General Grievous Jecki's species looks at life differently. Alive or part of the force, they usually see them as one and the same. It's why he couldn't fathom why Osha was upset about the bug dying. And yes, I'm making all this up.
Hey Thor! I'm finally getting ready to read the Legends books during the Prequel era, and was wondering about where you think I should start? Do I begin with "Darth Plageuis," or do I need to read the Darth Bane trilogy first? I know Bane created the Rule of Two, so unless those books hold some more crucial information I am very excited to read about Darth Plagueis the Wise, especially after all the praise you've given that story. Thank you so much for all your videos and honest musings.
I went with Plagueis since it does work as a standalone story. However, a good part of it is spent referencing events from Star Wars: Republic and multiple books set before Episode I.
Think of all the time you’ll never get back over this….think about how you can never unsee it or have it in your mind as “Star Wars” Not even wasting my time, energy, or letting that crap in my consciousness….
This episode has done something I thought was impossible an Easter Egg made an episode significantly worse then it was before. This episode was bad but could have been fixed if they had a really good explanation (that is at least what I was telling myself) but once Ki-Adi-Mundi was revealed to have been in the episode it broke the Lore and I realized that the only way to fix the lore is if the rest of the show is set on this planet and everyone dies by the last episode which we know won't happen since they wanted to make a season 2.
It’s funny to me that Star Wars fans (including myself) and Star wars writers are so infected with glup shitto syndrome that we assume darth smile is someone we’ve already seen before just in a mask. Knowing Star Wars this can’t be a new character it will be something dumb like qimir. So stuck in our ways.
I have totaly change my view on Mundi. He is clearly like some on social media who totaly can ignore facts and pasts events when he self secure state things thats is wrong more often than not. Its kinda crazy after all the time we have spent wondering how the precence of Sith can undo that statement of his when he either dont care or has chosen to ignore past events. And yes, they can find way to make his line make sence still, like a cover up story or secters they dont tell others. J.
It makes perfect sense that Leslie wants her wife to be the big bad in her show. Why cast her in a supporting role when you can make her a major player?
If the Jedi uncover "The Master" to be a fallen Jedi and come to the conclusion that they acted alone in training Mae etc., it would make sense for them to not label this encounter as "Sith". Maybe, it even supports Qui-Gon's claim that Maul needed to be a Sith, because he was more powerful than Mae ever was and there was no way a Jedi could've been his master this time around.
I am pretty convinced that Vernestra is the Sith, based mostly on their build and the fact that the Sith wears a helmet that is very-much shaped like her head. I may well be wrong, and it will be quite nice to be surprised if I am.
the moth bug flew right into the lightsaber because it was attracted to the light. Venestra is there to take the blame instead of Yoda. She is a cross between Yoda and Mace.
Hey Thor, I think Qimir has the be the Sith in the woods. He knew the way to the Jedi Masters cabin. More importantly, he is the only one who knew Mae was planning to abandon her missions and turn herself in. He would have been the only one with a reason to kill Kelnacca instead of letting Mae do it. To stop her from turning herself in. He was the only who could have gotten there before her. No one else but him makes sense.
I’ve been suspicious of Vernestra since ep 1 but I’m not so sure anymore. I just can’t find her motive other than it might have been a story arc for a high republic trilogy. I really enjoy the Qimir character he has a Superman to Clark Kent feel that I find interesting. As much as I want him to be the master I do think he is a decoy of sorts. The one thing I learned from this episode is that the four Jedi aren’t just being killed because of Mae’s motive, the Master seems to be motivated to kill them also. Up to this point I assumed these four Jedi were chosen by Mae, perhaps they were chosen by the master. If that helmet could fit over Koril’s horns she’d be my number one.
Hey Thor, I had this thought about the show. Perhaps, it's trying to create a meta narrative about not just the Jedi but also about us. The show would have us believe that the Jedi are mired in bureaucracy and is stuck holding specific beliefs when they should consider alternatives. Similarly, we with our credit cards cling to the belief that there is something worthy about Disney Plus, whether it be the shows or movies. But maybe the Acolyte is trying to broaden our perspectives of Disney Plus such that we do not need to pay for it anymore. Perhaps the "thread" we are meant to pull is in fact the cessation of any further payment and the deleting of our Disney Plus account. And maybe the writers of the Acolyte are trying to send us this message through the rather scattered and discombobulated writing of the show.
What's really dumb about the bug scene is that the bug chose not to attack the person that disturbed it and was closest to it. Instead it flies past her and goes for the guy with the lightsaber.
I havent read the High Republic comics , but having Vernestra to be a Sith Lords would make all the comics where she is the hero look very very weird/strange ...
Hey Thor Reuploding this cos I think I posted it in the wrong spot. I just wanted a bit more explanation into what age group Star Wars should be for. You’ve mentioned that it you’re sick of being told not to analyse something for kids and that you think Star Wars should be more mature like House of the Dragon. I somewhat disagree. I think that good kids media should be analysed and can be mature and well written. Avatar the Last Airbender has great writing, awesome action, compelling characters, mature themes, and is undoubtedly made for children but enjoyed by many adults. Same goes for the early Pixar films and original Star Wars. I’ve noticed that when Star Wars tries to cater to an adult audience (Kenobi, Ahsoka) it still falls short of being good. Andor is the exception here: it’s really well written and directed to adults, although I’d argue that Rogue One is aimed more for children/teens and is STILL GOOD! If Star Wars did become like GoT or HotD (both of which are mostly excellent) I think it would lose its Star Wars DNA. So I don’t directly disagree with you but I’d love a deeper dive into your thoughts. Cheers!
Hey, @Thor Skywalker, for episode five, can you do it like "Mystery Science Theatre 3000" used to do it? (I.e. crack jokes and/or mute the actual audio and make up your own audio and lines for the characters). Maybe you and 2 other creators can do a collab on it and put it on all of your channels. If you mute the audio or talk over it loud enough, maybe you can show the entire episode with your own audio/lines.
Hey Thor, at least two things bother me: 1) May meets the badger, but still runs away to the Wookie. Why? The search party is, due her knowledge, the same Jedi representatives that she could surrender to. Maybe the Wookie, whose friends she killed, would be even more inclined to instead take revenge, whereas the search group would deliver her to the prison as she wished. 2) Smilo Ren ignites his/her saber, but wouldn't it be cool to show the apprentice how to actually kill without a weapon? Smilo can force push, at least, and could still threaten Osha & Co and show how awful the Jedi are. Like a Count Doku, showing Anakin in the first meeting that he is way out of his league by just pushing and electrocuting him. I am quite bored and surprised how stupid the writing gets, while so many ideas could float.
@@Jimvenice2008 Metaphore issue. How do you 'push' with a thread. they are visibly using a thread power to push. I would think a single writer or actor would have pushed back on this one.
Let me just say that i haven't watched the show, so it might be a stupid questions, but what if in the end they just say it was a witch or a dark jedi or something all along, so technically the Sith didn't show up?
We have been discussing how there’s no real “mystery” but now I don’t think they meant the whole thing would be one continuous mystery. More like there’s just a new mystery every episode. Every week we’re all asking new questions, so I actually want to give them their credit there, they weren’t wrong 😂 I’m of the opinion that it’s definitely a female character based on the height- the l majority of the males on the show are pretty tall, and that «Sith» was almost Osha’s height, with the giant helmet.
Hey Thor, I was hoping you'd be willing to address (one more time) a facet of the "evil Jedi" problem that's prevalent now. My perspective of the Jedi started in '77 when I went to the theater every weekend I had money to watch what came to be known as, "A New Hope, ep IV". Through all the movies, animations, books, games, etc, I formed the opinion that after centuries of seeing no sign of true evil (i.e., the Sith) they lost any sense of danger, or even belief in the possibility that the Sith could return. In this vulnerable state, the Sith (culminating with Plagus and Sideous) were able to manipulate them to (as some might say) using 'too much light side'. Said differently, they're good nature was poisoned so that "helping" became "enabling", protecting became "policing", following the leadings of "The Force" became being the hubris of acting as an arm of the Republic. Again, said more plainly, They Sith strategically used The Jedi's good nature ("naivety", "weakness"?) against them. Here's my actual question: Is this viewpoint something I imposed on the story, or is this actually the arch George Lucas (et al) was aiming at? From the perspective I experienced Star Wars from, the Jedi were always the good guys until the Sith manipulated their destiny and led them down a path of destruction.
I'm not watching this show (may watch it at some point out of curiosity) but who's stopping any of the Jedi from going to the council and telling them about the sith? That would ruin Vernestra's plan if she's working with the Sith. And if Qimir is Smylo Ren, his plan would've backfired if the Jedi detained him. He did apparently kill the real apothecary and he didn't get punished for it.
Hey Thor I think you missed some stuff with the bugs. Sol said they're attracted to light. So I think once the battle starts all the other bugs still on the trees are going to come in numbers. I don't think they were a throw away just for that scene.
I agree Thor, this series has either 1) very bad writing or 2) plot twists we can all see coming a mile away. I know we all get emotional about this series, but it helps to hear your logical and objective-ish view, to step back and just call what you see. I'd hoped for a clever, suspenseful gradual climax to the series but that is not happening. It helps to take a deep breath and just acknowledge this for what it is...kinda like a true jedi. Unlike the way jedi are portrayed by Disney.
Just my twopence - but as an outside theory I wonder if this Sith/Dark Jedi could be a reanimation like Marrok. A figurehead or avatar for the real culprit. Additionally I also have a suspicion that Qimir could be like a special male witch (ala Paul Atreides) - the apothecary knowledge was a strange nod. Both are probably wrong and wide of the mark but just thinking out of the box
For a show that people allegedly dont like, there is a lot off attention for it. I am amused by it, but I am amused more by the reactions to it. There is a lively discussion about the show, which is good. For a final verdict it is far too soon.

7:31 or the writers just didn't know him for saying that line, they remember him as "that Jefi guy from order 66 scene".
AKA they didn't bother to watch the movies. AKA worthless just like the rest of Disney's writers.
The wookie fight scene wss cut this episode in favor of talking about our feelings in the woods..you know the scenes where it showed the 2 about to talk at the front of the pack but when they stop to talk for several minutes not a single person passes them, implying everyone stopped and waited for therapy to end.
Shirt less Yord scene, are you going to miss me? Te he scene, fire in space scene, power of many song, There’s so many dumb things they could have cut instead of that
Hey Thor, love your channel.
Thor when his recap is longer than the episode:
It's always an honor to witness anyone or anything transform into the force.
**ignites lightsaber with malicious intent.**
At one point in this episode I felt Jecki and Osha were going to kiss.
It felt very weird for me because is Osha much older than her? Like 20 year old visiting their old high school and trying to pick up a minor 😬
The child's actress said the director intentionally wanted that. Weird huh? Almost like they're.... Speedos.
Apparently Wookiepedia changed Ki-Adi-Mundi's birth date in real time.
I hate how the lightsabers just look like glow-sticks now 🚮
They're so thick but whatever this isn't Star Wars anyway so I guess make it as different as possible.
Look at the Plagueis novel the moment that Palpatine reveals himself to Nute Gunray it is seen as an extremally important moment.
To be fair, no one has yet said the word "Sith" that I recall.
He's just a Dark Side user who dresses in all-black armor and has a red lightsaber, because all Dark Siders go for Cyber Goth-Punk fashion.
@@JoRoq1 Well if he looks like a Sith and talks like a Sith and acts like a Sith and has a red lightsaber like a Sith then he is a Sith.
you are the way the jedi dismiss the problems of "return of the sith" like they already know the problem is sith.
I just.... cannot understand how there are people who enjoy this show.
You ever heard of the Pain Olympics?
I'm REALLY enjoying this show. I've enjoyed hate watching it (in such a way that gives disney no profit) and I've loved the overwhelming vast majority of the world coming together to point and laugh so hard we collectively pop lungs.

Agree. the Quimir thing is too on the nose, but the zoomed in shots show a pale arm, that is clearly male based on the fingers
2:12 "You must... accentuate the positives... and eliminate the negatives..."
In the Legacy of Ki Adi Mundi, it's shown he's always been an agent for the Sith. It's why he keeps insisting the Sith are extinct. He only turned on Palpatine when he nearly died against General Grievous
Jecki's species looks at life differently. Alive or part of the force, they usually see them as one and the same. It's why he couldn't fathom why Osha was upset about the bug dying.
And yes, I'm making all this up.
Damn if its an honor to join living beings to the Force, Nihilus was a goddamn philanthropist.
Once Sol lit his Saber , all teachings were out the window 😂Lbs
This episode has done something I thought was impossible an Easter Egg made an episode significantly worse then it was before. This episode was bad but could have been fixed if they had a really good explanation (that is at least what I was telling myself) but once Ki-Adi-Mundi was revealed to have been in the episode it broke the Lore and I realized that the only way to fix the lore is if the rest of the show is set on this planet and everyone dies by the last episode which we know won't happen since they wanted to make a season 2.
He doesn’t know.
Or the denial is strong in that one ! That too is a possibility !
Even if all the jedi fighting Darth Teeth, this still breaks the canon. The only Sith running around right now should be Plagueis and Tenebrous.
These could be rival sith
@@INCAnitysyThat is not possible because Darth Bane wiped out his rivals.
Venestra looks like Vin Diesel painted green in some of those stills.
Can anyone confirm the gopher from Caddyshack? Didn't see him in the credits.

Darth smiley sure knows how to make an entrance.
He stole it from Mary Poppins though…
@@DarthKastos maybe.
But whats his motivation? I mean yeah, to kill Jedi but why THESE particular Jedi?
Thor: "The secret is to slice and not stab"
Maul would disagree
You guys dont get it, Smilo Ren is Darkgrey Jedi, duh
Hey Thor,
I had this thought about the show.
Darth Zipperface
This episode, and really the series thus far, seems like a fan film. I think Quimer is the apprentice and Sol is the Master
Mae didn’t start the fire: it’s been slowly burning since the world’s been turning…I’ll kick myself out
Hey Thor
Reuploding this cos I think I posted it in the wrong spot.
Are not Jedi at least able to resist the force power of a Sith. Why would they all be pushed back when their guard is up?
Should’ve known the people making these have no idea how that stuff works
Thread powers trump force powers duhhhhhhhhhhhh
@@Jimvenice2008 Metaphore issue. How do you 'push' with a thread. they are visibly using a thread power to push. I would think a single writer or actor would have pushed back on this one.

I think the twins are switched from the bridge scene like a parent trap. It makes sense to me as the bad writing leads to it.
I like this show. Great exploration of a dark-side culture outside of Jedi/Sith doctrine.
Every week we’re all asking new questions, so I actually want to give them their credit there, they weren’t wrong 😂
I’m of the opinion that it’s definitely a female character based on the height- the l majority of the males on the show are pretty tall, and that «Sith» was almost Osha’s height, with the giant helmet.
Hey Thor,
I was hoping you'd be willing to address (one more time) a facet of the "evil Jedi" problem that's prevalent now.
Mae is going to be the reason for "Mae the force be with you"
Hey Thor I think you missed some stuff with the bugs. Sol said they're attracted to light. So I think once the battle starts all the other bugs still on the trees are going to come in numbers. I don't think they were a throw away just for that scene.
Bro really said “it’s so vague” and “indecisive” and then followed it up with “there’s no subtlety”💀💀
Smilo Ren's 😂 arms are too manly for him to be a member of the Cliterati.😁.
26:32 unless it's Trinity AND the Green chick working together. they could take turns under the mask like Stu and Billy in Scream.
Jedi hiding the fact the Sith are loose does make them seem oblivious. I think Venestra is working with the Sith that would make the most sense
Mae switched places with osha or something when they were kids, I'm predicting
How much you want to bet they’ll probably retroactively declare that to be the case, after the show is complete I mean
It's funny that these Jedis _kind of forgot_ about their ability to sense things or use a FOB to track somebody so they had to hire an alien.
The way the story has been going I bet it’s Qimir being puppeted by some faceless Sith.
