The Iron Hands are the reason I like space marines and they exemplify what it is to be a space marine chapter/legion and that is having a quirk that is just way out there. If every chapter was like the ultramarines, dark angels and imperial fists lorewise, the space marines would feel pretty boring. But the iron hands? They literally chop off a limb when they become full space marines, they just love their tech to a point where it's almost worship. You see stuff just out there with other chapters like the space wolves having werewolves, blood angels being unstable vampires, white scars just loving whipping around on their bikes etc. And the Iron hands never get a whole lot of love and when they do get some stage time they get portrayed as idiots or firmly in the camp of the villains.
