    Well done with the adoptions. No better feeling grand getting the triplets switched on to singles. They thrive so much better than having them as kades.

    James is turning into a good hand with the lambing. Great job to both of you.

    I used to hobble the donor lamb by passing the string around the forelegs, then passing the string behind the head to meet the other end also round the back of the head. I left it struggling until her own lamb had suckled just in case the older lamb hogged it all. Another tip I learned from experience is to check there are no defects such as an imperforate anus.

    Just another little tip for you when fostering lambs, cut a feed bag open and hold under ewes back end so it catches all the fluids so make sure it gets a good coverage👍

      Ahh we do this but with a tray, although sometimes I forget it in the rush

    James is doing well but the speed he pulls those lambs out gives me a panic attack. As a woman who has given birth… and speaking for the ewes, let the girls push them out so there is no injury to her. I’m no shepherd but it makes my heart jump. 😂😮

    Will, could you comment on any differences you’ve observed during this lambing season with the AberBlack sired lambs versus the Lleyn sired lambs, please. Thank you.

    • @CowleyHillFarm
      @CowleyHillFarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d say pretty similar lambing wise, maybe slightly smaller lambs but similar ease of lambing

      So, at present, the AberBlack tups have given you an extra option for tupping. Might we see more AberBlack tups in the future?

    Great lambing video chaps our second wee batch of 70 started lambing this morning but they're a week early for some reason and I've another full week at work before I'm off so that will be fun are you nearly finished 👍

    Do the sheep just accept an adopted lamb out of instinct or do they maybe "think": oh bugger that, I got milk so why not take on this lamb.... ?
    Is this too much humanising?
