The sad plot twist when you realize he actually tried to go home but the sight of Endeavor abusing Shoto again killed what desire he had left and he became Dabi

It’s not that he saw shoto being abused, that’s a dub thing.
The reason is mostly the fact none of theme seemed to be missing him at all, in his head, everything stayed the same and life just kept going even after he “died” . Seeing endeavor beat shoto in his eyes meant that endeavor did indeed replace him and was “training” said replacement. Which is what plays on the whole sad misunderstanding mindset

Fun fact: Toyas death is said to have been the final straw that broke Rei mentally as it wasn’t long after she had been put in the mental hospital and it was also close to Toyas birthday when the fire happened

After watching this episode and discovering that the resentment that dabi has which is actually what’s keeping him alive knowing that someday when moment of dabi/toya todoroki if his resentment is gone then that means he’ll die for real and judging by the condition he’s in that just proves it

Dabi is a sociopath who doesn't care for himself or anyone else due to feeling his life is worthless. Even if he was somehow redeemed, he'd just get executed or spend life in prison.

Shoto has become so powerful, he always was of course but it's awesome to see last time he fought Dabi in season 6 he didn't stand a chance.

you know something I realize the way Toya eyes act it’s like something dark and full of hatred is controlling him from the moment he looked at his father and the moment he looked at his mother saying all those things that are true and hurtful It’s like what a mastermind supervillain would say and that’s actually dabi inside him, making him say that because no wonder he felt bad about what he said to his parents cause he was losing control of his head of his flames That are becoming hatred and abandonment imagining the reality he sees Why he wouldn’t want to accept the real reality of letting go of what he hopes to be for his father. That’s a real kind origin villain story.

Love how she failed to see Dabi's true nature from the start and cheered Shoto on. I guess understanding villains does not applies to all, I hated Shoto for beating Dabi because he was actually in the right and society and Endeavor failed him.

I have to say nothing can control or stop dabi for causing any madness and burning kills not all for one, not his team and not his family and even though he was with his team he just to me plays along until he finally has his moment with his father because that’s all that matters to him and nothing else except his brother Shoto.

Just clarifying:
His mom didn't hold him down and burn him. It was more a spur of the moment reaction. Went like, "AHHHH!" Throws boil water before realizing, realizes, then screams "What have I done!? I'm so sorry Shoto!" Then Endeavor has her committed, then she REALLY breaks down to where she CAN'T see Shoto. Then spends the next several years in Psych ward to making sure she's no longer a danger to herself and others.

I mean…kinda. It’s offscreen but the wording always used to describe what happened is “poured” not “thrown” & the fact it coincidentally landed perfectly on his left side, which Shoto says she was calling “unbearable” while pouring it. It’s up to interpretation I suppose & a psychotic break is still the reason regardless.

In the manga they show that after the water Rei used her ice quirk on his face, which led to a freezer burn

Something I can’t say enough is how I couldn’t imagine being in Touya’s place in those flashbacks. Like, he burned himself up, and the next thing he knew he was several years older and looked completely different and had a different voice. And then he went home, only to realize that his father had essentially just continued on. All of Touya’s fears had essentially come to life.
It’s also honestly super sad that Shoto feels the need to carry all of the family’s hardships on his back when none of this should really be his responsibility. Unfortunately, Endeavor spent the last month or so completely neglecting Shoto and Touya, so he’s gonna have to fight All for One now instead, which sucks since Touya seems to really want to talk to him instead of Shoto, and I can’t say I blame him. Still though, I hope that Shoto can get through to Touya in some way. Touya may not want to admit it, bit they’re more alike than he thinks…
