You need to tell the full story. Deacon Cavanagh during the famine was so involved giving dying people the last rights. He knew he couldnt get to them all,so he offered 100 consecutive Masses for the dying. Mary appeared once the Masses were completed. It is believed that this was a sign from heaven to comfort the Irish people during the famine and afterwards. It is the most unique Apparition site in the world because the Lamb of God appeared on a table .

@@mpat100 According to who? Isn’t it a little strange that after Jesus’ resurrection He appeared to Mary Magdalene, the disciples, and many others with no mention of Mary? To not appear to “the Mother of all who believe” and “the Queen of Heaven” seems to diminish the importance of Mary, at least in the eyes of Christ her son. She was a godly, good woman who did the will of her Lord (and Savior, as she called Him), but she is human, not divine.

Do you know what is even sadder ,is that there was plenty of food in Ireland at that time,that being cattle and oats but half of the British army who were in Ireland took all the cattle and oats back to England to help pay the English gentry who were in debt to the J.... bankers.

Alvaro, so I learned on your channel about doing small indulged prayers often during the day for the poor souls so I’ve been incorporating into my daily life! I’ve been saying a short indulged prayer to the Holy Face of Jesus and kissing my Holy Face Medal that I wear around my neck many times during the day and wouldn’t you know satan doesn’t like it and out of no where my chain broke! I’m not letting that stop me but make me more zealous in helping the souls in purgatory!

Knock is a holy place . It reminds me of medugorie. Out lady and Jesus are present . A lot of prayers are said ter and a lot of masses . The main message is the holy mass . Go to the holy mass . The Irish always honoured the mass until now . Help us our lady of knock xx

I have a dear relative who has an auto immune disease (MS) come upon her. I am unworthy and a sinner. So I ask, not for me , Our Lady Of Knock, but for her healing that she may be able to care for herself and her daughter. I usually don't ask in prayer for myself so much, I am not a big prayer asker. But if my cousin is healed then I shall prayer more. Been Reading about St Gemma Galgani as well. Maybe I pray to her also.

His title was “archdeacon” - a bit confusing but he was a priest - I believe this is an old title to indicate a type of level with the clergy such as “vicar general”
If he offered mass he was ordained to the priesthood. Also all priests are ordained deacons first just as all bishops are first priests (and deacons before that).

I was healed of a physical illness in Knock when I was 16. It was extraordinary. Knock is special
It’s the only silent apparition because she didn’t need to ask for penance like you said. It was a grace of consolation. The faithful Irish lived so poor and simply. Secret societies were very active at that time and there was a plot to cut off Fr Kavanaugh’s ears that night in retaliation for preaching against them. Our Lady intervened for her beloved son and their plan was thwarted. County Mayo has produced a lot of saints including Fr Patrick Payton.

Consider the significance of Jesus appearing as a Paschal Lamb on an altar with St. John alongside Him. That same year, 1879, the Pergamon Altar of Zeus was removed from its 2000-year-old place in Turkey and placed in a museum in Berlin. John wrote of this pagan altar in his message to the Church at Pergamon in Revelation:

Thus, the apparition at Knock shows us that Jesus, the Lamb of God, is the true Sacrifice who takes away the sins of the world. Surely, Knock was chosen because of the faithfulness of Arch-Deacon Cavanagh who, like the ancient congregation at Pergamon, also "held fast" to His Name.

Visiting knockshrine was part of my youth.I bought a little book in knock 30 years ago explaining apparition .The priest said a Hundred masses for the souls in purgatory , on the eve of the hundredth mass the apparition happened I believe the souls in purgatory prayed for played a big part in this vision . Our Lady gazing up to heaven St John with the book opened in his hand the word of God and St Joseph family protection . The altar representing the Mass and the Lamb representing the sacrifice of Jesus. Angels hoovering around the Altar. 15 witnesses it most have been a beautiful sight . Today the church of appiration is just as beautiful.

I chose to visit Knock last November on Holy Souls day.
It was a wonderful experience that I never forget and God took me all the way there just to tell me "not to worry and to trust him" but also I felt I was being told to pray for The Holy Souls of Soldiers in Purgatory, especially ones who have committed suicide 😢
