Ah yes, in the first game, they just made original places for the Dream Events. But in every game afterwards, the Dream Events took place in different locations from the Mario and Sonic universes.
The Dream Events were always the best part of The Mario & Sonic at The Olympic Games series. They were fun and represented both franchises pretty well. It made it feel like more of the crossover between Mario & Sonic that fans tend to imagine. It emphasized the whole crossover element of the games and it was fun to see Mario & Sonic characters interact with each other’s worlds as well as including neat references that only fans of both franchises respectively would catch. The generic Olympics location in the games felt nothing more than a nexus between the two universes for the characters to meet each other if anything. I wish that all of the events in the games were just basically the Dream Events really.
What's missing: Olympic Winter Games, Wii: 4 different frames from Dream Curling Olympic Winter Games, DS: Blazing Bobsleigh Sochi Winter Games, Wii U: Coin Street from Snow Day Street Hockey and 2 different holes from Hole-In-One Curling Rio Olympic Games, Wii U: Duel Beach Volleyball, Duel Football and Duel Rugby Sevens (They are called that but they are Dream Events in all but name. The Plus Events from the 3DS version are rightfully excluded though.)
The good egg galaxy and wii Mario circuit stage from Mario and sonic at the Olympic winter games on the wii is insanely nostalgic for me, I remember me and my brother would play it constantly and rage at each other.
I wished that all the past Mario & Sonic at The Olympic Games are on Nintendo SWITCH games just like they did for mario and sonic at the olympic games tokyo 2020 because no one are playing Wii, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS anymore now that they're moving onto Nintendo SWITCH and there aren't going to be anymore released on Mario & Sonic at The Olympic Games in the future either which really sucks.

That's because my game has scratches and I can only play Dream Rafting and Dream Hurdles. The only other Dream Event I remember playing is Dream Equestrian. I really want to play to others. Side note: Some of the normal events are also affected, but I dont really care about those.
Sadly yes, it's either some of the events didn't have anything suitable for each of the locations set in Mairo or Sonic's world or they were rushed to not include them.

I think a better alternative would be to have a dream event for every sport + original dream events too.
This is why 2010 Winter Olympics is the goat.
