You don't know what the machines above the golden throne do ? Don't sweat it, neither does the Adeptus Mechanicus. They just pray that it continues to work.
As a computer scientist, we are almost adeptus mechanicus... We don't know how work, why work or if it should work. We just do and pray to not brick the production server

It's been shown as an amalgamation of both going back to its earliest depictions. It is a throne, but I get the impression that the throne bit was added later to whatever else is within the device.
Yes there is quite a few in my first diorama and I am sure the second will have a few too 😉. I tried to make the emperor appear to be more like a man in his severely weekend state and show how much of the mighty imperium is an illusion. Forgive the Heresy 😂
What I wish had been there, was 10,000 years of pipes, wires and relics being added to the throne. Like stuff that was not painted gold, but we're clearly just added to the throne to keep it running or superstition
For the cabling did you try any guitar or bass strings? If you have any musician friends or asked in a local music shop they may have some for you! The project looks amazing, it's so impressive to see it come together
I am using copper wire along with the Greenstuff which is working out well! I did actually try some guitar wire but I found that the copper stuff I am using is easier for me to work with 🙂. I am really glad you dig it and appreciate the suggestion 🤘
neat job - are you considering the 1000 'volunteers' that 'support' the Emperor in his daily labours (the ones that get fed to him to keep the astronomicron alight)?
“Volunteers” really made me chuckle 😂. I am not sure yet if I am honest. There are a few other elements that I am focused on at the moment but maybe it’s something that will be included later down the line 😉

Incredible. A good addition would be pods for psykers to go in to feed the golden throne (like hibernation pods for space travel.) You don't need a thousand etc. as they don't have to be fed to the golden throne all at once. It would just look really cool. Also where are all the custodes?
That would be pretty cool 😉. Currently this is only one part of the build and will eventually get bigger with wall sections and more. Eventually we might have something very similar to what you are describing 🤘

I think adding side walls to your old diorama would really hit that cramped dirty old school throne room feel. Is a project ever really finished? Also, space marine busts? In the throne room? The Custodians are gonna have aneurysms xD
We have walls in the pipeline but I don’t feel like they are going to make the throne room cramped 😅 you will know when you see the boards. I am definitely still exploring options in terms of pieces to add the diorama so some more busts/statues will probably make an appearance 🙂🤘

In answer to your question, for the time being the project is stored in my studio. In can be moved if I really wanted to move it as it’s built on a wooden frame. I haven’t really thought about long term as it’s a bit of a passion project and I am having a blast building it. I guess we will find out once it’s completed 😉
Are the cables abruptly ending a conscious decision or are you putting 90 degree junctions on or covering them so they look like they are going into the throne machinery? loving the build btw :) :)
Yes, all of these edges will be covered so they won’t just abruptly stop. I will have plasticard and other pieces covering the edges so it all blends in. Don’t worry I am a bit of a perfectionist so will make sure it’s all tidy. I still have more unending work to do on the cables along with an arched facade that’s going to partially obscure the machinery 🙂🤘. Thank you very much I am glad you like it!

If I am honest I didn’t start it with a goal in mind other than to make a cool diorama (second one 😅) based around the golden throne. I am a “do first and ask questions later” sort of hobbyist 😁.
I'd keep the cabling on the other half as is. You said yourself that this throne is the 10 millennia old one from 40K; what better way to show centuries of decay and regression than creeping disorder and disrepair?
@@imperiumnihilus Ummm, Yeah! Come up with some special rules. Dark Age of Tech: Mechs get +1 wound, movement or everyone gets better armor. Something. Psychic Bastion: More dmg or more uses ect. Win Condition: If any enemy squad holds the Golden Throne for a turn. They win. Of course Imps get to start on the throne. Or a blanket rule depending on the time period. I would spend days coming up with Horus Heresy rules. Run a regular Hive City game and if "the enemy" wins. The next game is held on the Golden Throne board... ok, done nerding out.
I never considered that stairs might be different sizes to regular humans/custodes/big E since they're different heights and have different sized feet and strides.
Exactly! In terms of this diorama there isn’t much difference in size. I would say that the stairs leading up to the throne are slightly large than usual and would probably be more of a struggle for any human sized personnel 🤘 Custodes and Marines would have no problem though 😂

Psychic Bastion: More dmg or more uses ect.
Win Condition: If any enemy squad holds the Golden Throne for a turn. They win. Of course Imps get to start on the throne.
Or a blanket rule depending on the time period. I would spend days coming up with Horus Heresy rules. Run a regular Hive City game and if "the enemy" wins. The next game is held on the Golden Throne board... ok, done nerding out.
I never considered that stairs might be different sizes to regular humans/custodes/big E since they're different heights and have different sized feet and strides.
Exactly! In terms of this diorama there isn’t much difference in size. I would say that the stairs leading up to the throne are slightly large than usual and would probably be more of a struggle for any human sized personnel 🤘 Custodes and Marines would have no problem though 😂
