One of the most iconic pieces. GW really should have gotten it for Warhammer world. I think the Last Light showed a lot of people a new level of emotion and storytelling in miniature art.

It's the nature of the hobby that the community is inundated with thousands upon thousands of talented diorama builders. It's the reason diorama's are so hard to sell, the kind of person passionate about the hobby enough to want to spend big bucks on one are probably going to want to make one themselves.
As for GW, not only do they have several very talented painters on the payroll, they also have many of golden demon winners willing to donate their works on a temporary or even permanent basis. It doesn't really make sense that they'd be able to justify buying this piece at a price Roman would be willing to part with it for.

The fact that "real" art collectors are getting interested in miniature art is more interesting for me than the corporate plastic manufacturer having yet another piece on display for marketing purposes. So I am happy with how this went.

The fact that Games Workshop didnt jump at the chance to have that piece in their museum is a crime. This is hands down the greatest warhammer piece I have ever seen.

Not gonna lie, the work looks very impressive and honor to the artist for the effort and time, but to me the composition looks a bit sketchy in the details and also the color scheme a bit dull and flat... also not a fan of the goopy strings. Obviously these are just my two cents on a total personal point of view, I really love the idea, storytelling and the executions of many aspects of this tremendous piece of art, so big props to Roman!

I recall seeing this piece some years before I began painting miniatures. I am an automotive modeler firstly. Having started in the early 70's when my Dad bought me a kit for us to put together as Father and Son. I stayed with it all through my life. When I saw miniatures becoming popular and the impressive painting techniques I wanted to challenge myself and break new ground. Gone were the highly polished lacquer paint jobs. Now the rust and the dust are where I dwell.
I never abandoned cars and bikes. They are just another part of what I do as a hobby.
But seeing "The Last Light" and knowing it was made with devotion and deep commitment was satisfying. Now have met you in a sense I see how deeply connected it is to your life.
I have sold a few cars in the past, and boxing them up is always emotional. I recall all I put into the car. All the hours detailing and buffing the paint. The research and the planning.
    I feel it.

10K euro was a bargain price for this, especially considering some of your "small" diorama pieces are ~4K. And i'm in absolute love with your new Escher piece, the dimensionality of the background is absolutely insane, truly jaw dropping. the parallax effect you get with these small frames is beautiful, and truly inspirational as I've had ideas to do the same for a year now (just gotta clear out a massive backlog of various board game pieces, then I never want to buy a new board game again and just concentrate on art pieces).

the artistic composition here is incredible, and the use of colors to not overload the piece but draw the eye on the marines is very subtle and beautifully done. Such a legendary piece of art. It's simply the best GW diorama, ever. Nobility, valor, sacrifice, unyielding ferocity in the face of overwhelming odds, this work captures all of the beauty and heroism possible from one of the most formative games of my life. I'm curious as to the name of the Sanguinary Guard, angelic and beautiful warrior, the Last Light himself, and the stories that brought him to that fateful spire high above clambering, chitinous fury.

My interpretation on the your beautiful art is more grimdark. Space marines constantly idealise these heroic last stands takeing down as many foes as possible. However against the tyranids it simply does.not.matter. The tyranids clearly have no end to their numbers and the Marines are clearly being dragged down under their weight. The losses they inflicted are also meaningless as the hive fleet will simply reabsorb the biomass of their dead alongside the space marines dead. Humanity struggles and rages but its all meaningless, the human sacrifices means nothing and the casualtys they inflicted against the swarm will mean nothing. Pure distilled grimdarkness and i love it! Thank you.

Thank you very much for sharing Roman, thats always been one of your best features! I sad I have never really gotten to see it up close since you won the slayersword, I was there that day but only got to see it through the glass cabinets. I have an idea for making the scene on Istvan 5 where Fullgrim meets Ferus in the middle of the heat of battle, surrounded by their armies, inspired by your Last Light.

Letting things go is hard and at the same time one of the most liberating things to do.
Especially when you have put so much effort and time into it. But the experience of creating it and all the emotions stay with you and theses are forever.
Best piece ever to me, because it set a new standard of storytelling and complexity.
I wasn’t in the hobby at that time, but when I returned in late 2021 after a more than 20 years hiatus, and did my catching up on things, this one stood out.

I remember seeing pictures of Last Light for the first time and being blown away.
In the last couple months I've convinced friends of mine to join me in this wonderful hobby of ours. Painting their first miniatures. One said "I think it would be really fulfilling to do full dioramas of scenes and scenarios". Last Light was the first thing I showed him, and he was just as awestruck as I was the first time I saw it.

As a fellow diorama builder and lover this is a beautiful build and amazing story telling both video and diorama wise! I absolutely love it I wish I had more time to build dioramas but I make them for my YT channel so need to cut corners like there’s no tomorrow 😅 (builds need to be done in a week then editing 😅). Telling stories and showing lore through dioramas is such and interesting thing to me and I have to say I’ve not sold any of my builds as I know it’s hard to let go! Keep going and keep building these beautiful captures of a story in the 3D form!
And again just incredible piece of art 👌
