Some people recommend pouring some new oil into the new filter before installing it. Helps with engine start up apparently but be careful to take that small amount of oil into consideration when refilling at main filler cap under the hood. Better to have too little oil than too much as obviously easier to top up to correct level than have to drain oil out if over filled. Enjoyed the video- only complaint would be you getting into car with those dirty work gloves on...kills my OCD!! 🙂
Not true , you don’t need to put oil in new oil filter .. explain vehicles that filter goes on side of the engine ? How will you fill up oil filter with oil in those?as you trying screw on oil filter all of oil would come out .. so thats not true old myth.. that only for turbo charged cars til year 2006… years after then you don’t need to do that anymore , engines are better build these days
@@AutomotiveDysfunctionon mx5 nd you can put oil in the filtro because it stasera verticale on the engineering 🙂 it's not so important to file it, but if you want you can do it. Il you want takeaway a look to my video. Complimenti for your video 😊
Wow , Much better Oil filter removal / replacement than on the new Fiat 124 1.4 Turbo engine ! But the U Tube reporter / testers like the Fiat better ! 1
The crush washer should always be changed. By definition, the washer is "crushed" when the drain bolt is tightened to the specified torque and cannot be relied on to seal the drain bolt a second time if reused. Also, strongly recommend torquing the drain bolt to the specified torque rather than relying on a "calibrated wrist". If torqued, you can feel the washer crush when the specified torque is reached ensuring a tight seal.
just a heads up mazda only recommends for this engine to use an oil filter WITHOUT an anti drain back valve and the only 2 i know of so far are OEM mazda and wix 57002
Anti-drain back valve in an oil filter is only an issue when the filter is mounted in a manner the oil will drain from the filter when the engine is off, like on Subaru's where the filter is on top of the engine. If the filter is underneath the engine, like on the Miata, the filter will always remain full of oil when the engine if off.

Good video, thanks. Except you forgot to check the crush washer on the oil plug or replace crush washer, if replacement needed.

New crush washer on drain plug. And maybe take off the gloves when inside the car touching start button, infotainment wheel, etc.
Thanks!
Thank you

I bought a Royal Purple oil filter, you saying that is not good? That has anti drain back I believe.
