- I tried so many things but it wasn't responding. I updated all the drivers and I uninstalled the surface pen and installed again. Nothing happened. Lastly, I used Microsoft diagnostic tool and I fixed it.

Thank you for this video. Do you know if this method works for any Stylus pen and touchscreens? I'm asking because I bought Lenovo ThinkPad P15v, which initially does not support a stylus pen even though it has a touchscreen. But I select this touchscreen as an option in the configurator. I am now waiting for the delivery of my PC and would like to know whether it is possible to use a pen and, if so, which pen to select. Thank you for your answers and for the video!

All, if the video doesn't work for you try manually adding the pen to your bluetooth devices, restarting your pc and pulling the battery. These extra steps helped solve my issue.

thanks for this, but I've done the test 2x and the pen still not working. Th button is working fine but it wont draw...I'm clueless
After trying many things, I solved my problem when I thought I might try to change the position of the battery. I'ts kind of counterintuitive. You are supposed to put the battery with the pin upwards. It worked! Maybe someone else did the same thing.

I have tried this, but it didn't help. My pen's button works but the pen doesn't drawing. I checked it's battery on Surface app it shows 0%, although I just put completly new battery. I checked tha battery works fine on other devices and the pen is neither broken. How can I fix it?

Thank you is not just for saving $100 but also saving time that means so much for me and efforts which goes to waste as I was not able to find any clue why the pen was not working. This diagnostic tool's result didn't reveal a pen problem but somehow after restarting performing the diagnostic test And after restarting, the pen finally started writing. (Prior to the diagnostic test I tried various other troubleshooting methods like replacing the battery, unpairing and re-pairing the pen Bluetooth connection to the surface pro, etc.... Magically the pen stopped working on my other surface) .... But thanks to the combination of this this free diagnostic tool and restarting, the pen works on both of my surface Pro laptops.
I had to unpair and re-pair my pen at least two dozen times before I got frustrated and started ramming the shortcut button on the table (I was throwing the pen away anyway) and voila'! it worked again! "Percussive maintenance" actually does work by banging it on the table.

Zero effect for me, thank you for the guidance though. I replaced the tip, replaced the battery, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, unpaired and re-paired the pen, ran the diagnostics, restarted the Surface, still not working. The top button works, but zero response from the screen when the pen tip is touching the screen, in any app.
I had another pen. The metal connection tore apart. The top button was working but the writing
There is nothing you can do. Replace the pen

my problem is very strange, it was working perfectly till i touched an interactive tv at the university to signal something to my friends, i touched the interactive tv with the pen, and the pen was able to interact with the tv i mean, i did not expect that, anyways, when i sat down and tried to write, the pen part does not write, i dont know what to do. ive tried everything.

does this apply to all pens ? my raphael 530 acting weird and not working,the eraser is acting as pen and the point side isnt drawing.
This method is only for surface products
My pen fell and then it couldn’t write anymore but the button still works i thought maybe the lead from the pen was the problem so I took it out and put it in again it still doesn’t work. Is it bad that I took the lead of the pen out will it still work or do I need a new lead
If the problem is with the lid, that is ok but I don’t think the problem is lid. Try to do your best to fix it with the diagnostics and if it doesn’t work, it will be mechanical.

Hey, I don;t have a surface device I have the spectre 360 pro G2, and this app says it doesn't work on it. Same issue with the pen. Help please

I just did the diagnostic test and it didn't work so I am not sure what else to do. My pen eraser is working. I just switched batteries as wells so I know it is a new battery. Although the pen tip is still not writing, painting, or working at all. The green light does show up on the stylus though. Could this be a tip issue? A hardware issue in the pen or surface pro7?

@@ImARainbowLlama I have the same problem. I tried so many things, new driver, new updates, new battery, diagnostic toolkit. The button still works, the tip of the pen doesn't. Being an illustrator this means I cannot work!
I understand and my wife is an illustrator. You cannot do anything without that pen. It is probably hardware issue. If it is, there is nothing you could do.
@@ImARainbowLlama I called Microsoft and explained my issue and since it was still under the 1 year warranty of my purchase they sent a new one. That one came, I used it one time, and then never worked. I called them back with my case number for the previous pen issue and they sent a second one. I hope you find a fix!

my pen always shuts down on me temporarily, there are times when it doesnt turn on at all, my batteries were full, to i used to hit the pen gently on my desk or press the button and keep tapping on the screen until it works, is that a bad thing?

Tried this, didn't work, next step is to reset all the drivers related to the pen, still didn't work, then it's buy new tips for about $20, still didn't work. Warranty is expired so only option is to buy a new one. I'm not the only one on the customer service site asking about this so it's an extremely common problem with all the pens where right after the 1 year warranty expires the front burns itself out and you need to buy a new one for $100.

In my case the surface pro can detect my pen alright, all the clicks on the pen functioning but not writing neither eraser functions. Did try your method but no luck.
If there is a hardware issue, it is impossible.

Probably. I need to know the exact problem to tell you something but it is obviously a hardware issue.
