This was about the mental heath problems he was suffering with less than 2 months ago and was drinking it away in Farmville VA. Home is Heaven. He wanted to leave. Till Music and god saved him. 👉👉Gen X U.S. Navy vet here. Just happy to see he's finally in a happier place, having fun, living it up and enjoying his life with us fans. 🙏🙏Chris was that lonely empty train on dark tracks, but now he'sfull steaming heading around the sun and we're all invited along for the ride of our lives.

Thirty years ago, I felt like I couldn’t live anymore with the trajectory of my life. I went to bed that night and told God, “either give me a reason to live, or take me home..I can’t do this anymore.” I FULLY expected to just not wake up, because what could possibly change before morning. I was sick the next day and ended up in the ER.. and they told me I was pregnant. Shocked is an understatement. I would love this child more than I loved myself, and God knew it. He gave me a reason, just like I had asked. He’s a pediatrician today, and he knows that he was an answer to a desperate prayer. Keep your head up..He hears you. God bless you

Very few have done this in recent memory. Early days of Eminem and DMX made me think a lot. But I grew up in poverty and gang violence so there was a connection there. Since then... its been a while. Love this guy.

Seeing the lord doesn’t reference suicide. He’s just saying he’s tired of the world we in and ready to see his Heavenly Father.
I agree generally speaking. However, he says "I'd be strung up in the psych ward." To me this implies he would go crazy living in this new world. The new society would have him committed to an asylum. And he would... fill in the blank in order to go home to see his heavenly father. We are in agreement I think though. Talk about a sober assessment of the infinite value of the human soul. He is warning people to put the salvation of their soul ahead of materialism. Too many in our generation are selling away their souls and slaving away for possessions that they can't bring with them, after they die. The Lord Jesus also said, "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

You have to keep in mind that prior to his music "going public", that Oliver Anthony CONFESSED to suffering from addiction and mental health issues, such as depression and possibly suicidal thoughts. So, when you HEAR the ache in his voice (words) they ring true and honest.
But keep in mind that he also said that he promised "The Lord" (your views on religion are your own) that he would give up the booze if "The Lord" could show him a purpose.... and within 30 days he is getting GLOBAL recognition and overwhelmingly positive response to his message. (Sorry, but I can't imagine feeling a little "questionable" about some form of "higher power" and making this type of offer and getting THIS type of response and STILL be "questionable" if that "higher power" even exists. I'm sure that Oliver Anthony's own level of "faith" in his religion has been "confirmed" in a way that is absolutely undeniable.)

We've all been blinded, distanced and numb for so long...We've been programmed to see only what they show us. It hurts when we get reminded that we are creatures of deeper, stronger, better quality. We were not designed by the creator to be mediocre. God created us in his image, he reminds us we should start acting like it. We are all perfect when we remember what is REALLY important.

The fact that that captions keep... first line is " If it weren't for my Old dogs and the Good Lord " but it captions as If it wont for the.... like the caption maker doesn't understand how to say weren't.

At the end, That's a quote in the bible, the book of Mark. He's been seeking the LORD and going home means... a rapture of His church or as Paul (who wrote 2/3 of the New Testament said, "To live is Christ to die is gain." Paul had been to heaven and has first hand knowledge of the peace and beauty that awaits those who have received Jesus as Savior and LORD. No death wish but the knowledge of the best is yet to come. Who and what we are witnessing is Anthony's helper in all of his pain! My God is a Miraculous God. He turns mourning into dancing! It’s not suicide , it’s a want of heaven
I agree there are multiple interpretations. However, he references suicide when he says, "I'd be strung up in the psych ward." There is no question he its referencing it in that line. But I agree home is heaven and not necessarily suicide to get there. Thanks for the comment 🙂

Mate… there are some days that I would gladly run into the arms of our Lord and go home… but we must endure and carry on… the world can not be crazy for much longer…. Can it?
He’s not talking suicide! He’s saying he’s tired of this world and praying for the Lords return! Which at this point to many of us feel the same.
He was an addict and he also tried suicide and he recently became a born-again Christian and he's praying at this time that the Lord take him home.
First line with the old dogs ,
lord and psych ward is about in this new world of high inflation where your money is worth nothing, where free speech is used you get cancelled would send him crazy. That’s the 1-2 many days for him. Then he says where on the brink of a world war and know one is praying which refers to the world is so screwed up right now that people don’t care if there is a war because it is just as bad without one. People are struggling just to eat. When he talks about wanting to go home he’s talking about a simpler time. Look at the 80’sand 90’s. your money went a lot further. Houses were a lot cheaper. Cars were cheaper. Food cheaper. People are starting to decide whether they can afford to have children now.he doesn’t know what road to take to get back to what it used to be like because the world his been like this for too long now. He still refers to everyone doing what the rich men say( politicians government dc) the farm represents those simple times where hardwork and sweat and tears earns your living then along comes the young generation takes the easy way sells it off and then it’s developed and all that hard work was for nothing lost to the concrete jungle forever. “People have lost there way only do what the tv says” is there freedom to think and speak for themselves. They just go along with what the media( tv Facebook twitter etc ) agenda is, and to do or say anything against it = cancelled. It really is a sad world we are living in right now. Commonsense doesn’t even prevail anymore. The song still does have the depressive and maybe suicidal connotations to it but, I think it is less relevant.
Excellent analysis! I agree entirely. However, you are skipping over a very clear and distinct line, "strung up" in the psych ward. He's saying if it weren't for the love of his dogs and the good lord keeping him sane, we would end up in the psych ward. Worse than that he would end up "strug up" as in hanging because he wouldn't be able to take that existence. He also finishes the song referencing hanging again. I do agree with your analysis though that it does not necessarily point to suicide and that going home is simply going back to a time or perhaps going to a more heavenly place. The song definitely has 2 meanings to it and I find everyone just keeps pointing towards the suicidal side of things. I did know the strung up part did exist but was just wanting to convey his other message as well. I’ve never listened to a song like these two songs of his “rich one and home one” and been so captivated ,if that’s the right word to use. It’s the first time I’ve stopped and really thought about.

I don't think he's talking about suicide, i.e., taking his own life before YHVH calls him home. I once eagerly and sincerely asked in my agony for YHVH to "take me now," but suicide was not an option. Fortunately, He didn't take me then, because He still had things for me to do here. Here's what I get from this song:

What have we done to one another?
Am I part of the problem?
Can I become part of the solution?
