It's a shame they didn't add in the Greg Davies clip where he is invited back on to the show, Jimmy asks him to do his Chris Eubank impression again, which he does, and then brings Chris on as a guest and Greg shouts "OH FUCK OFF" and almost runs out of the studio in fear. Chris took it really well, he found it funny and thought it was nice that his voice was making people laugh and happy.

The bit with Chris Eubank is great. The guy's actually really eccentric, so it's quite a contrast when you also consider he was at one point basically the toughest guy in Britain. It's also nice when they actually get Eubank on, and he's really a good sport about the whole thing.

This whole compilation was hilarious apart from Gregg Davies. I had to skip his unfunny Chris Eubank impression. Making jokes about his high pitched eccentric voice was already outdated back in the 90s. Never mind, this century.

Lee Mack is without doubt one of the quickest wits in British comedy. He’s brilliant.
He also has a sitcom called ‘not going out’ that is literally a laugh a minute. Full of fantastic one liners. This second statement shouldn’t be taken as an example of his wit by the way. Just a comment on his comedic writing skills. As well as his performing ability.
I hope my edit has cleared up any sort of confusion. I don’t know how I could possibly make things any clearer. I personally would think it was fairly obvious that I wasn’t using the sitcom as example of wit. That would be absurd.

@@Thisandthat8908 yeah I wasn’t using the sitcom as an example of his quick wit. I was simply stating that it’s good as well as the fact that he has a quick wit.

It's an unlikely but on so great idea . Susie and Rachael on the daytime show are clever experts with the words and numbers and it's all very prim and proper . With the Cats crowd they throw themselves into the fun and using the same set gives the show a really unique energy . The game gives it must that little bit of structure and some of them can be pretty good at it .

39:55 It's tradition to clap out of time at concerts in Britain. Elton John talked about it in some documentary as they did that effect in the studio version of Benny and Jets which famously imitates a live performance. He seemed pretty convinced audiences do that specifically to mess with the musicians and I got the impression he liked that since it always brought a challenge to performing in Britain that didn't happen anywhere else in the world.

Once saw Johnny Vegas compering at a club in Nottingham. He hadn't prepared any material, but he just started talking and never got around to introducing any of the other acts. When the club finally closed at about 2.30am he took the audience to the multi-storey car park across the road and did another two hours.
The next time I saw him was a benefit gig. The gig started an hour late because they were building a special stage for the contortionist (who hadn't been booked for the show, but who turned up anyway). The show was being compered by Daniel Kitson, a great stand-up who genuinely refuses to ever do TV. Johnny Vegas came on at the end and Kitson basically gave him a bottle of whiskey and said "Talk about your Dad". Part way through the inevitable meltdown, they had to do the raffle - Johnny ate the envelopes the prizes came in. We left at 4.30am and Johnny was still going. It was almost entirely incomprehensible, but every now and then he'd say something that made everyone howl (I remember long riff about strangling cats "As they die they say, 'Pythagoras'. Not always. You have to do a lot of them before you find one that does it...")

Love your reactions guys, watching iconic moments from these types of programmes along with you is pure joy! But there's something I really want to know.
Is it _truly_ the case that in the US you don't have programmes/shows like this anymore? I say 'anymore' because I understand that panel games were actually fairly common in the US (well before certainly my or your time) in the 50's, and earlier, particularly on Radio but also on TV. Obviously they wouldn't have been _quite as risque_ back then. But it amazes me that you don't have 'vehicles' like this which simply allow the greatest and wittiest comedians to just make us (and each other) laugh.
For instance, personally I'm a big fan of Radio Programmes like 'Just a Minute' and 'Sorry I haven't A Clue' which are far longer running over here, but I do know that many such 'shows' were just as popular in the US many yrs ago.
It just amazes me that in the US you 'seem' to have abandoned them! But your and many other American reactions to them seem to have a common theme... _'Why don't we have this over here'?_
I can't see a reason and I don't get it! These types of programme either on Radio or TV will never disappear from the UK. They're far too popular and they just make too much sense! So if indeed I am correct in summising from your (and others reactions), that the US no longer has them. Why do 'you' think this is the case?
Thing is you 'kind of have allowed them 'sort of' to be resurrected. In the form of Podcasts, where comedians will just 'shoot the shit'. But still...Also 'roasts' are a thing.

"8 out of 10 cats prefer Whiskas" was a well-known advertising slogan for the cat food brand Whiskas in the United Kingdom. The slogan was later changed to "eight out of 10 owners said their cat prefers it". Whiskas stopped using the "8 out of 10 cats" slogan two years ago.

Eubank was a very good middleight, then supermiddleweight. He had great reflexes and a chin for the ages. He always had that lisp though and affected the style of a country gentleman (quite well actually was voted best dressed man in the UK a few times). Was never the same after a fight where he badly damaged an opponent and you could see him back off more after that.

Seeing Sean Lock lose it laughing, is absolutely brilliant...so glad Lee Mack has been involved in Sean's parts during shows, since his incredibly untimely passing. Unfortunately I can appreciate beloved people to a large number of people being lost too early.
I love these, but it's hard. Johnny Vegas "Ideal" is great.
