Funfact: every variant of slaughterfish throughout the elder scrolls games, bears a considerable physical resemblance to a predatory fish found in the continental United States. The Slaughterfish in Skyrim is a near perfect copy of the Alligator Gar, and may in fact be intended as a Tamrielic name for a real world species.
Remember the mission in the elder scrolls oblivion where you had to kill the “Rumare Slaughterfish” and they were way more op than the normal slaughter fish
The keepers are explained by the vamp Lady , she says that they channelled the barrier the was kept in with, and that they were under the command of the undead Dragon guarding her. Their only purpose was to keep the barrier up.

I have the theory that haghravens can take a human form where they pretend to be witches, that they are the raven equivalent of werewolves and werebears. They don't look more like ravens because they need to keep enough human attributes to cast spells. It would be interesting if the next game allowed the player to turn into one.
I believe one of the books in Skyrim mentions that hagravens were human but they surrendered humanity for magic or something, like they willingly let themselves become corrupted in exchange for more magic - I looked it up just now, and it's Herbane's Bestiary on Hagravens :) Great video, as always!
Almost 8 years of Skyrim, and i have never seen a feral Falmer before this video - Or at least, i havent taken notice of them before. This is why i love your videos Nate :)
Becoming a Hagraven is implied a lot in the base game of Skyrim as well. Any quest location that involves encountering a Hagraven, but that has not been activated yet, will place a Hag witch in their place(s). These enemies can be killed without affecting how the quest is supposed to be played out, and will either be replaced by Hagravens when necessary or have Hagravens suddenly appearing beside them in the location to fight alongside them. For example, the Glenmoril witches for Kodlak's quest are only hags until that quest is active. Similarly, there is a hag in the cabin that will later house your Hagraven wife-to-be. Hags seem to respect and work alongside Hagravens no matter what, you can hear Hagravens speak in quests (albeit much less intelligently), and I think I remember a quest where a witch wanted to escape becoming a Hagraven (or maybe it was being in a coven that seeks to become Hagravens)? Memory's a little fuzzy there. Also, the letter Agnis has for her third sister sounds very much like encouraging her to join them because she wants the three of them to become (ascend to?) Hagravens, but maybe not.
The seeker thing has been my headcanon anyway. And when you compare Miraak's mask to the appearance of the seekers, it makes even more sense. he had the will and the power to resist being turned but not corrupted, but the regular seekers are mortal mages who travelled to Apocrypha in search of knowledge but were consumed.
I was going to mention the book that explains how Seekers are humans who got lost in Herma Moras plain of Oblivion . But you beat me to it .Awesome video TheEpicNate315 !
I just recently subscribed and only now dug my way through your videos to this one. I really enjoy watching your videos and mostly overlook it if youve missed something, but not this time. When you speak to the leader of the companions about how the curse came to be, he tells you that one of his predecessors entered a pact with some hagravens, who offered to bless them with the power of their master hircine. To me, this largely suggests, that hagraven are just another form of lycanthrope, unable to shapeshift, but imbued with magical powers. (allthough, the powers could just be explained with them having been witches in the first place.)
Hagravens' connection to Hircine is way more than just alluded to. In the Companions questline, we find out that a group of Hagravens known as Glenmori Witches gave the Companions' Circle lycanthropy - which, as you said, is associated with Hircine. The loading screen message about Hircine is also accompanied by a model of an altar that appears in the Witches' cave, suggesting they worship him.
Hagravens undergo a sacrificial ritual to become hagravens. Although it is most likely to Nocturnal because she as affiliations with birds like ravens and crows
connection goes to hircine actually because the 3 witches were hircine followers also the 3 were glenmoril witches, which is heavily associated with lycanthropy in the elder scrolls thanks to kodlaks questline to go kill glenmoril hagravens
@@EstebanBrenesV Although what I'm about to say is unlikely, it could be both Nocturnal and Hircine due to the connections to birds and also the need to shift forms into something other than human that isn't a vampire
An interesting side note that never gets mentioned, the Altar of Thrond on Solsteim is near a werewolf camp, where you can trade if you are also a werewolf and they have some interesting rings available for people of that persuasion. For vampires the Altar of Thrond is one of the possible radiant locations for the quest Rings of Blood Magic given by Feran Sadri in Castle Volkihar. The sisters were originally witches of the Glenmoril Wyrd who traveled to Solstheim to help people cure themselves of lycanthropy. And the human sacrifice on the bloody altar outside the cave entrance most likely explains the process used to transform into Hagravens.

I just love your videos Nate! They rekindle the Skyrim fire in me that I haven't had in a while, so I'm binging your videos while I play Skyrim and Morrowind. I find your commentary very informative and entertaining. Keep up the great work! 😊
Do a list that lists every #1 from every list. Top of the top. Best of all.
i second that
Hulking draugr. Damn near gave me a heart attack when one of those things rounded a corner and swung a battle axe at me.
IKR I keep getting jump scared by daugr.
Thank you for always posting, Nate. I just recently ended my relationship with my boyfriend and Skyrim is the only game we didn't play together. He taught me how to really love Fallout so it's tender for me right now. I've got a gun I renamed after him and there are so many things in Sanctuary we built together. Skyrim is my precious home, even as a high elf. 😉
Top 5 Disturbing Creatures You Should Avoid: Number 1- Nazeem
Lol
Yeah you are right
Your voice is so pleasant to listen to! (And your vids are epic. Ever considered doing some more lore-indepth things?)
Number 4: the embodiment of evil covered in dragon bone armour about the size of a house towering over the player
Number 3: a salmon with sharp teeth
🤦♂️
Someone does not understand what opinions are.
@@shadysam7161 Still seems like an odd jump, unless someone is genuinely terrified by fish.
@@insaincaldo I'm pretty fucking terrified of fish. I don't swim in real life and when playing games I stay out of water as much as possible. At least in the previous games one could draw their weapon under water to deal with them on their own turf. Now I just swim away like a bitch and nope the fuck out as soon as I reach the shore.
Shady Sam it’s a bit of an odd opinion though if you think a slaughter fish is scarier than a lurker
Respect bro, u still goin with this series even tho it's 2019, skyrim is a big game but still, I find it amazing that u can still find these things
every time i play skyrim i don't see Nazeem in the cloud district so explane Nazeem?
Honestly love binge watching this channel. Excellent content, thanks for posting.
I slaughtered everything in the Forgotten Vale and didn't notice the difference in those Falmer. Damn.
Same.
Just once while going into my spell menu I noticed that one of the falmers had very spooky teeth
The keepers are explained by the vamp Lady , she says that they channelled the barrier the was kept in with, and that they were under the command of the undead Dragon guarding her. Their only purpose was to keep the barrier up.
Title reminds me of my cousin who won't play because she's scared of spiders
Blame namira for that
If on PC mods can fix that
My friend also would not play the game with bugs 😂
Chris East I made all the spiders look like Spider-Man. Makes for an interesting playthrough
Thank you for letting me(us) know about all of these details and secrets Nate! I hope Bethesda compensates you or will one day for working so hard to keep their games relevant.
I'm early, better think of a joke:
Fallout 76.
Lol
good one
You just copied that from another Skyrim video.
ill admit its a little of a downer but i lost someone really close recently. it helps very much that you still make me laugh nonstop and give me new skyrim goals all the time, always appreciate your videos
I hope you do cyberpunk videos when it comes out!
I've always hated frostbite spiders honestly. Too big and noisy yet I never hear or see them coming. and I'm like half petrified of spiders.
Too many eyes
Worst encounter was during dawnguard, having them just drop down on you. It freaked me out the first time
@@michaelszilagyi4529 oh yeah. I hated that moment.
I killed the Dark Brotherhood frostbite spiders bc they were creepy.
Darkfall Cave in the Dawnguard DLC was made specially for people like us who can kill giant, overpowered dragons, trolls and what not but are petrified when they hear steps made by 8 legs. That fucking cave.........

About this quest right here... I know it isn't really about what he's talking about, since those are normal demon things and he's talking about the feral demon things, but I just wanted to say- when I was doing that level I kept thinking of Frozen when Anna jumps to save Elsa and freezes and also when in the second movie Elsa freezes while in the cave thing.
The falmer were actually wandering traders in concord whom came in contact with radiation.....
I'm just in love with your tops man, just got obsessed with this channel.
0:17 living BEANS? Spooky
HUMAN BEANS.
Hey nate! Obsessed with your channel, I’ve been playing Skyrim forever and I’m still discovering new things thanks to you. Also I’m Moira the hagraven!!!!
6:45 you mistakenly said Seekers 😜 they're Keepers
"...all we know is that they are very spooky indeed."
SPOOKY SCARY FALMER, SEND SHIVERS DOWN YOUR SPINE!
4th. Last time I was this early...
Nope no joke here
YES!!!!! Finally some more skyrim videos. I love you’re skyrim videos more then I do your fallout videos.thats because I don’t have fallout or never played fallout games.so that’s us why I love skyrim videos more.
Where’s my ex
I have the theory that haghravens can take a human form where they pretend to be witches, that they are the raven equivalent of werewolves and werebears. They don't look more like ravens because they need to keep enough human attributes to cast spells.
It would be interesting if the next game allowed the player to turn into one.
I believe one of the books in Skyrim mentions that hagravens were human but they surrendered humanity for magic or something, like they willingly let themselves become corrupted in exchange for more magic - I looked it up just now, and it's Herbane's Bestiary on Hagravens :)
Great video, as always!
Oblivion slaughterfish freaked me out the most when I first played because of how much they reminded me of goa'uld.
He's showing the slaughterfish and all I can stare at is their cute little fins.
Flick flick flick flick-
Wow, I've never been so early 😱
Nice video as always Nate 👍
The seeker thing has been my headcanon anyway. And when you compare Miraak's mask to the appearance of the seekers, it makes even more sense. he had the will and the power to resist being turned but not corrupted, but the regular seekers are mortal mages who travelled to Apocrypha in search of knowledge but were consumed.
I was going to mention the book that explains how Seekers are humans who got lost in Herma Moras plain of Oblivion . But you beat me to it .Awesome video TheEpicNate315 !
You’ve helped me so much through my journey in Skyrim and I thank you a lot Nate
Seekers remind me of AD&D Mind Flayers a little. Which made me wish Bethesda would introduce Githyanki and/or Githzerai in the game...
This was a great video! Make a part 2 pleaseeeeee
