Brake away cable should not be hooked around to tow ball, as it can bounce over the tow ball in transit. Therefore will not apply the brake if the hitch was to come loose from the vehicle.

You missed the check on the red button on the top of the stabiliser which should show some green for it to to a solid connection.

Breakaway cable is first on when hitching and last off when unhitching for obvious reason. It's an important part the B+E Driving test here in Ireland.

Thank you for the video, I’ve just fitted the stabiliser on my caravan. Looking forward to seeing it working!

Our handle dosnt always stay at 45 degrees on its own like yours by the looks of it. Is that normal?

Not sure if you mean stabiliser or the actual hitch handle. But if its the hitch handle it just means the catch has gone inside and can be replaced. But it wont do any damage long term. If its the stabiliser (the big black and red handle in this vid) and it falls down all the way without any resistance then your friction pads need replacing

@winchestercaravans2897 yes the small actual hitch one not the big stabiliser one. Where can I get a new catch? Thank you

@@andyrad I would try online. Alternatively, our workshop do find that if you service the area and spray some brake & clutch cleaner around the area. You might dislodge any rust/grease that is stopping it from staying up in the first place.

@@winchestercaravans2897that's great many thanks. It does occasionally hold up so will give that cleaning method a go!

Good instructions. In addition, The red button directly on top of the towball on the AKS3004 pops up when engaged. When the green edges are seen, correct seating of the vehicle towball has been achieved. Bit raising the car is a good fail safe check.
Also worth reminding people to have the correct towball on the vehicle. If you have a towball fixed with 2 bolts on your vehicle, it needs to be a high neck towball as per your video. A standard towball will damage the AKS head
