I'm also drawn to memoirs and biographies, but I also enjoy history.

Thank you to your wonderful mother for these recommendations! I'd watch a video of your mother reading the ingredient list of a box of cake mix 🤣 It's always good to hear from her!

Thank you so much! She's far too modest to admit it, but she is a wonderful BookTube star.

I'm very late to the party, but I just knew I had to hear your mom talk about biographies 😆

I love Robert Massie’s books as well. I have only read his books about the Romanovs. I purchased his books about Catherine the Great but I have not read it yet. Lovely to see your mom. I’m in my 60s so it is nice to see someone over 50 talk about books they enjoyed. I was able to go to Churchill’s war rooms the last time I visited England. It was fascinating. I must dig out my book by Charles Spencer to see how I get on with it. I hope to see more videos of you and your mom together.

Thank you! I love having her guest-star as often as she's willing. The Imperial War Museum is amazing; we loved it, too. Hope you enjoy both the Massie and the Spencer!

It's great to see your mother again on your channel. Biographies are one of my favorite genres. I loved My wicked, wicked ways! I still remember how much I laughed when I read it, and it has been almost 20 years. Despite his dissolute life (he would be in a lot of trouble today...) his portrayal in this book is endearing. I'm a big Churchill fan too, he had one of the most interesting life ever, and a great sense of humour. Imagine having him over for dinner! I need to pick up the Judi Dench book at some point, I feel like I've seen it around a lot lately. I always go for detailed biographies, but there are exceptions: I tried reading Hermione Lee's biography of Edith Wharton at the beginning of the year, and ended up going for an abridged version because it was way too long.

I definitely need to read Flynn's and Churchill's at some point (though my tired brain balks at the idea of tackling Martin Gilbert right now), but I highly recommend Judi Dench's books - any, but especially this latest one. I think I need to tackle more of my nonfiction and biographies over the summer. I don't have the mental bandwidth to tackle something that detailed during the school year.

Hi Heather, I don't read biographies. I five stared Half Sick of Shadows. I'm giving DE Stevenson another try and am currently reading The English Air. I three starred so un hauled Miss Bunckels Book. The English Air is much more interesting.

Interesting! I'll add that one to my list when I finish my other Stevensons.
