For me, as a guitarist and roadie / guitar tech, the equalizer can have the following features 1) equalize and rectify the guitar sound 2) serve as a boost for solos 3) keep tube amps high but lower the volume output after amplifier (rehearsals) 4) Make it easier to tune acoustic instruments on stage by reducing the bass frequencies that affect the tuners

I finally added a full-time EQ on my board. Happened to have a Fish & Chips around. Works very well. I like using an EQ in the FX loop to gently reshape the voice of an amp. Amp too dark? Too mid focused? Too bright? Nudge those faders, new amp! I've had the Danelectro a couple years, but used it very little so no telling how it will hold up. If it dies, the Boss GE-7 is probably the obvious replacement. In

Another useful video. I love the GE7. It's my favorite boost/color/problem solver/ pedal. Edit: that bit at the end where you clean up the drive channel with the EQ is gold. Thanks for sharing that.

    Liked and subscribed.
I love my GE7. I use it in the effects loop or between my drive/distortion pedals and modulation type effects, if I'm plugging straight into the front of a clean amp.
I think I'll grab one of the Behringer EQs. They're only £17 right now.
I recently bought my first Behringer pedal, a tremolo - UT300, very surprised at how good it sounds and performs. I would use any of their analogue pedals with confidence. Not sure about their digital effects.

I love your video. It’s difficult to compare (other than the one that you didn’t like, I didn’t either) but this is more valuable as a tutorial also on adjusting EQ pedals. I mean I’d they didn’t mess up the freq range it’s all the same, but the detente is a big factor for me. I want to know when I’ve put it back to 0dB. Also I gained a lot, I tended to overadjust, and see that it’s much more subtle.

I have a Boss GE7 for decades and I have used it to correct tone on pedals like Boss DS1, SD1 or a Ibanez TS808. Interesting thing is, after I bought a Celestion Alnico Blue speaker, I don't need the equalizer anymore. The right equalization comes straight from the pedal.

I have two GE-7’s and one Behringer (the one shown in this video) and mainly I very much appreciate the GE-7 having “detente” faders, meaning you can feel them “click in” at the 0dB mark where the Behringer doesn’t have that. If one uses an EQ as set once and leave it, maybe not a big deal, but it is really nice being able to “reset” some freq on the fly and know you have it back at 0dB.

Great comparison. I am bug fan of the GE7 (I also use it to balance the tone drop when I play a certain guitar with the volume pot reduced). I was wanting to add a second EQ, but I didn't want to spend the same amount of money.

I think the frequency spread between the dials are the same as GE-7 without the highest frequency. Thanks for showing off these others and usefully ways to incorporate them. Love your videos.

Hi, don’t know if you already have an EQ pedal yet, but just all of ‘em add some noise. It’s based on how much you add change in EQ to your tone. Most people have no real problem. If you get a newest GE-7 they’re better. My Behringer is ok but not the best but it works ok even at low sound in my apartment. If and when I play louder I use a Gate to control things. The Behringer is a clone of the Boss GE-7. Quite close as demoed.

By the way, did you have the EQ before or after the fuzz? Do you think buffer has anything to do with the changes to the fuzz?
In my opinion the Danelectro and Behringer held their own pretty well but I agree with you regarding the Artec. I didn't like it either because it was doing something weird to the tone in the neutral position and that should not be happening on an EQ pedal.

Boss GE7 is very noisy, here you have it last in the signal chain but put it before a moderate gain stage and you´ll see. There are plenty of mods even here in youtube to make the boss usable. Really? Buy an expensive pedal to then mod it, look up the prices off the mods and pay a tech to make It? come on , Boss should solve the issue, It´s a 20 year old design, I know Boss pay you but at least tell the truth, you didn´t even mention the nosie floor of the boss, and I gess you know what noise floor is and shure you have put it in front of a gain pedal or a gain channel off an amplifier, so do not pretend you don´t know the issue. Probably the 3 other pedals are noisy as well, but that´s not excuse Boss neglecting to solve a realtive simple (for them) chip change, I mean Boss uses noisy op amps to cut costs, but they sell It as if it were the holly grail of eq
