Turkey has a very good soccer team. USA maintains some good defenders, and an excellent goalkeeper. Both teams could have scored more goals. Good job Mr. Klinsmann, and good job team USA.
Turkey best underdog team in world. sometimes losing against san marino, sometimes beat world champion. players have a concentrated problem, they lose when they see the opponent small.
Michael Bradley is just AWESOME! He has good posture on the field and excellent vision... what an awesome Lob pass from Bradley and good finishing from Fabian Johnson who followed through with a run!!, we need more plays like that!!! Bradley is deff one of the best midfielders!!.....
The starting defense was perfecting, I hope they are the starters for the World Cup, I would like to see Beasley play left mid and julian green play striker
Altidore doesn't look bad he just can't score he'll break the drought soon. Other than that the defense looked sloppy, but Bradley and most of the MIdfield and forwards had a good game. They should play Beckerman most of the game against Nigeria to see what he's got in him, Beckerman and Bradley have great chemistry with each other It would be interesting to see them in the diamond together.
When did you start watching soccer? Refs are human and they sometimes make the wrong call. A universal fact that applies to every country and club team, not only the US.
seasalllover That gave me so much adrenaline. I mean, they screwed the USA up so badly in that game with their redo penalty as well and the USA still won in dramatic fashion.
I am a usmnt fan but too many mistakes from defense if Ronaldo had any opportunities like this we would've lost 4 or 5 to 2 If klose Gomez or any player from Germany were playing we would've lost 3 or 4 to 2.. Defense needs to step it up
Wow! Great game! Fantastic fans! Super support for the American team. I'm still amazed that there are amazing American soccer fans. I hope one day in future Canada will be there with Mexico and the USA among the CONCACAF elite. Cheers from a hardcore soccer fan in Canada!
Greece is actually a fairly strong side. And I don't know if I would call it "keeping form". We looked horrible on Tuesday and improved a bit today. Lot of work to do before 16 June.
Refere favored turkey like mother favoring little brother over his elder brother but still lost. But hey that Assist from Bradley and finish from Johnson was too awesome man 👏🏻
Michael Adeniyi the olympics win over Brazil was just ONE of the VARIOUS times Mexico has beaten Brazil. Two times in the Confederations Cup, Copa America, Friendlies, etc.
***** the U.S beat germany, bosnia, italy, spain, turkey, tied with argentina and more. the U.S has set the standard for mexico. Mexico can only beat like brazil. mexico did terrible in the confederations cup. If Mexico beat bosnia by two goals or even one then ill give them my respect even tho the U.S beat them in bosnia and mexico is playing at home
okay yes but u cant say that mexico has been good for the whole past year or two. besides these last two games, mexico has played terribly over the past two years
alex dyche Mexico wasn't playing well a while back because we kept changing coaches but the team really improved with Miguel Herrera. And before that, Mexico was always the Concacaf giant.
I was at the game and agree with others, the ref had a really bad game and the fans really let him know it. Not sure how 1st goal was disallowed, pretty sure it won't be the last this summer, maybe a hand from Bradley? But I didn't see anything from the other end. Defense was shaky but other than 1 panic moment, no real clear chances, I thought the US had things generally covered. What worried me the most was Altidore, the highlight didn't show it (not sure why) but he was thru on goal 1 vs 1 with the keeper and he hesitated, big time, took too many touches and keeper blocked it. It was a move that would've made the highlight reel but showed how hesitant the striker was. Took too much time, let the defender get back on top of him and keeper close him down and he was trapped. It looked nothing like the Altidore back in Alkmaar, nothing, like a shadow of his former self. The pressure is immense on him and he knows he's having trouble but I saw a striker at that 1 moment that just lost all confidence. I know he's better than that and believe in him that he needs to step up big time. His hold up play seemed decent to me but that very poor finish not shown here is something of big concern that won't get much publicity, maybe to prevent panic among fans and US soccer. I was right on top of that and well, my heart sank a bit for US hopes to get out of the group. He's got a game against Nigeria where he can really step up, hope he takes it, it's Florida, the state he grew up in, make it happen JOZY!
We're all aware that for the USA to advance, we will need our attack to carry the team. The good news is, our attack looked very creative today. Now it's just down to finishing some of these chances. The defense.... we need to do better.
8 shots on goal... the entire game.. .only 8. And that's the U.S looking creative in the attack?!?! In that case, they're going to need to be more then creative come World Cup time. The U.S played horribly, Turkey dominated the match. I don't know what game you were watching
Youmad Bro Come on,did you watch the game or are you basing it only off of stats alone. The USA had a multitude of chances created from every avenue possible. They didn't always get the shot off but the creativity was there. You can have a ton of shots like Sunderland, but they can all be terrible and distance shots. Or you can also have not a ton of shots but a ton of creativity. Usually it's the creativity that win. And the USA showed a lot of creativity this match. Defensively we weren't there. I don't know what game you were watching, but it was pretty even except for the fact that both sides were unlucky to not have a few extra goals and that the USA finished their chances when it mattered.
shnickel1 pretty even?! Really?! Dude, Turkey dominated the match. The match was 70% of the time played on the U.S's side of the field and about half of the game the U.S was defending. Jozy was in the back line a few times defending! Not taking anything away from the U.S's victory. They won and in the end it's what matters. But it wasn't a beautiful victory by any means and Turkey should of at least tied. The triple amount of shots on goal proves my point. They dominated the match. They were the better team. And to think like 3 of their star players were missing...
Youmad Bro No, it was a game of counterattacks and more attacks. Please rewatch the highlights, Your basis of stats are only based off of quantity and not quality. Despite the USA having an admittedly horrible and gifting defense, in the highlights, the USA has 3 more chances than Turkey does. Three. One of those was a goal ruled out. Of the quantity you mentioned, I only saw 3 that were actually legitimately good chances/shots for Turkey, and like I said the USA defense gifted a lot of chances. Of course this is opinion based but this debate is opinion based. The USA attack was good, the defense was bad. That was the original point. If you watch the highlights, it was pretty even. If you watched the game, it was pretty even. The USA capitalized, Turkey didn't. Quality over quantity my friend, and the USA had 3 more chances than Turkey and very few of them were actually bad chances, the only one I can think is Dempsey's distance shot.
shnickel1 uhmm who shows the highlights? ESPN! I watched the highlights and I was disgusted at how they made the U.S look like they were the ones dominating the match. I watched the full match on ESPN 2, I don't need to watch the highlights buddy. But you are right, the U.S had clearer shots on goal that could've been goals. That, I will give you. Many well, most of Turkey's shots were off target. Turkey was running circles around the U.S though, they were passing right through your midfield and creating chances whenever they wanted and had more possession. That's my point.
Very Nice to see most Fan are optimist abt USA qualifying out of the group. But honestly the Team that has knocked out the USA not once, but twice is filled with spirited, motivated, talented players and are far better than the last team that beat the USA. They played with their second team n lost 1:0 against the 1st 11 of World 2nd best Team. Watch-Out USA... So,let's all wait and enjoy the Show. Good luck to all Teams.
Great game by usa against turkey who also gad a great game but simply couldnt finish. Mexico also had a great game vs ecuador. Best of luck to both teams!
@1:16 mark, Twellman: "Any questions about the groin, Ian?" Lol, oh that Twellman. If someone hasn't already put together a "Twellman's Greatest Hits" collection, they really should.
I was @ Red Bull Arena and Altidore had a one on one chance against the GK and sadly choked, yes a foul was called but the play continued. We need Altidore to get that first goal so he can loosing up. Go USA let's shock the world
What kind of defending is this: look at 6:38. The guy chasing the Turkish player stops and runs away from the shooter and just lets him get a free shot after dribbling around a bit! WE DONT NEED THREE PLAYERS STANDING ON THE LINE. It is more important to close down the shooter than try for a goal line clearance! Congratulations on beating Turkey anyway
Dylan Oxendine With all due respect, I'm with Karagounis Z on this one. I know he's supposed to protect the line, but, by running away from the striker and not pressuring him he gave that guy a lot of room to shoot. It was just lucky that the Turkish striker couldn't get a shot off before Guzan closed him down.
As a Turkish American I feel that I have some say in this match. Both sides played well, and had plenty of opportunities. Yes the Turks were missing some key players (Arda, Burak, Semih Kaya) however this was still a solid lineup. A true test for the Americans that could have went either way. At the end of the day congrats USA. More recently, the game against Ghana was impressive. But lets admit Ghana showed some great quality if not better. USA chances of advancing from this group has risen tremendously due to Portugals situation with Pepe suspended, Coentrao & Almeida injured. USA really needs to win this upcoming game against Portugal to guarantee a spot in the knockout round because Germany will be a near impossible task.
USA and Mexico had entertaining games. Turkey did very well today, and so did the USA. This easily could have been a 5-4 game if both teams finished a few chances better, and that's partially why it was so exciting.
David Mendoza Mexico shouldn't even be in the Cup its only because of us that you are even in. You havent beaten us this year, aka if you beat Ecuador we would do the same and better.
Hahaha bro your team didnt score for 7 straight games and had to switch managers 3 times. You have no attack since chicharito has lost his touch and now your top defender has a broken leg. Good luck in group
David Mendoza The heck? Yeah the USA looked excellent on attack. The finishing could have been slightly better but there's always room for improvement. The defense was a concern, I'll give you that. But the USA looked good and you know it. Turkey is better than Ecuador, by a mile. Ecuador's best player is a Man Utd flop. Turkey's won best player in the Bundesliga one year and is a star player of Borussia Dortmund. Turkey missed out on Europe because Europe is one of the toughest qualifiers. Hell, France and Portugal nearly missed out.
Some more work needs to be done on the american defence we still have a few weeks to go so i hope klinsman fixes this thsb we might have more than a decent chancs
Great game but we really need to bolster our defense. It seems that it's easy for teams to get passed it. On a side note, does anyone else feel that the team captain should be Michael Bradley? He's like the maestro of our midfield...
Turkey best underdog team in world. sometimes losing against san marino, sometimes beat world champion. players have a concentrated problem, they lose when they see the opponent small.
Altidore was pissing me off, especially at the end of the game he had a chance to pressure but instead allows the defender to cross in the ball. If klinsmann is smart he will for sure start johannson
I'm from Germany and I would like to see how the American people and media would react if the U.S. makes it to the let's say semi finals. So, come on, let's march through group G together and kick off Portugal and Ghana!
our backline is just too inexperienced and our midfield lacks chemistry. there's no time to fix it. we can only hope that every other team we play is having worse problems than us.
if we don't clean up our defensive errors we are going to get seriously punished by Ghana, Portugal, and Germany. But our offense looks really good keep up the good work USA!!!
Jozy is just taking up space on the roster that could have been for Landon Donovan, and taking up space on the pitch that could be for A. Johannson! Those two are the ones that would score the goals not Jozy who hasn't scored for club nor country
We (USMNT) need to get it together again. I believe that Klinnsman is the man, but, we need youngsters, like Zardes, and Yedlin to gain more experience and captain the next class of u.s. Stars, if we ever want to be an international powerhouse
It's a marathon not a race...and US made doubters the world over eat there words by advancing over Ghana and Portugal at World Cup. They said US stood zero chance of advancing and they did while Portugal with Ronaldo went home very early
I didn't think it was a well played match by the U.S by any means. Turkey dominated the match. They had more possession, their passing was better and had more shots on goal and on top of that, the game was mostly played on the U.S side of the field. Hence, Turkey played the better match and deserved to at least walk away with a tie. The U.S better pick it up
Chandler!! you have to be kidding right??? Chandler seemed a little lost in the sauce!! Not only did they steal the ball from you, but instead fighting to get it back, you go off running towards another Striker from Turkey.... ( I see what you were doing, you were anticipating to intercept a pass, but in NATIONAL TV... you would have looked a lot better fighting for the ball you just lost!! not running off to another direction.. Chandler leaves the Goal Keeper on 1 on 1 with a striker... big mistake.... but good Job on Cameron for standing in the Goal Line!!
I cant believe you’re making a big deal about a word that originated in Great Britain. Let’s be honest here. Turkey has produced great individual players. But their national team has been horrible for a while now. After that brilliant performance in WC 2002, they’ve been going downhill slowly. And it was evident in euro 2020. Seriously. WTF is wrong with them?
To be honest, us did kind of play a little dirty but turkey was dirty too. The ref called nothing for the us. The tackle around 4:30 should of been a pk.
USA have to tighten up their defense. There are simply no excuses for the amount of opportunities the US gave up to the Turkish side. Lackadaisical defending throughout the game. Guys like Ronaldo, Reus, Ozil, Gotze, etc, are going to finish and exploit the US defense if they let up opportunities like they did to Turkey. Luckily we have talent and depth at the goalkeeper position to bail out the mediocre defense.
I'm still waiting to be impressed by Julian Green. I know he hasn't had much time with the USMNT, but, I'm still wondering why he's on this roster. Whatever "X-factor" he has, I hope it shows itself, quick. And, CHANDLER... goodness sakes, you're killing me.
USA played with they're G team. Seriously... who cares what squad was used? This is a tune up match/send off series. Nobody was playing for a trophy so stop comparing which team is better. If friendlies measured how good a team is then the US and Germany would be the favorites, GHA and POR would be cellar dwellers.
Hey Im not one to comment much online but if someone is supporting US soccer shouldnt any usmnt fan be happy? Sorry i moreso just dont want alex and daniel to think all of us fans feel that same way. Good game by the way, a lot we can learn from and improve on defensively. As for players and positioning i believe klinsmann knows what he is doing but is simply trying how certain players work in his formations and etc. These are just trial and error games. We'll be fine.
***** Hahaha hahaha...... I laugh at your ignorance!!!! I have supported the USA in every aspect not just sports my entire life and will continue to do so no matter what. And to further back my point of your ignorance, I am not Mexican, nor is there any Mexican blood in my family. I have nothing against Mexicans but I am American. So kindly F off cause your words don't bother me one bit cause I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America..... And I pay my taxes...lol
Teams in the World cup will never miss chances like the Turks did today especially Ghana, Portugal, and Germany we better fix and find a defense that works back there or were screwed in brazil we have the attacking power but it doesnt matter if your defense cant stop teams from scoring
Ref was awful, I don't blame him for not allowing the Altidore goal... was a hand involved and the push off of the keeper did not help. But both Altidore and then dempsey were obviously fouled and a PK should have been called for the foul on dempsey.

Johnson + Bradley = Deadly Duo.
They feed off each other so perfectly. Simple sweet passes that end up creating goals.
Back when we were good. Hoping we can get back to this soon
We are back!
Great goals from the US team. I think they will go to the second round.
***** We shall see.
Guess what happened. We got out of the group
@@anthonylong9067 good memories

Taylor Twellman annoys me. Everything that happens in favor or against in a US match is world class, according to him.
Love the well executed plays! Really shaping up to take on the Group of Death.
God Bless America
Go luck to all. Love Ghana and the US.
both gk's were awesome
The officiating was awful this game. So many calls that were overlooked. I have a feeling the US is gonna get fucked by the refs again this world cup.
the Refs always fuck the US. remember that goal in the 2010 world cup were the goal against Slovenia was disallowed?
45cakeman yeah the Edu goal that to this day has never been given a direct answer as to why it was called. Bullshit refs, bullshit calls.
45cakeman Also the semifinal game in the Women's Cup, ref screwed the US over. Took a miracle to come back.
Decent game defense was shaky ref was god awful another example of why Bradley is the best american soccer player in my mind
I am a usmnt fan but too many mistakes from defense if Ronaldo had any opportunities like this we would've lost 4 or 5 to 2
If klose Gomez or any player from Germany were playing we would've lost 3 or 4 to 2..
Defense needs to step it up
im proud of our U.S team
Turkey 2002 3rd place then SF Euro 2008. What happened to Turkey?
good to see persians backing turkey long live Persian-Turk friendship

Abdullah Zagros absolutely!
Oh yeah the Europeans really dislike and do not trust Turks. I have not met a single person from Europe who likes Turks.
Iran won three Asian Cup in a row (1968, 1972, and 1976). What happened to Iran?
1:10 is a BEAUTIFUL move. Clint Dempsey is a BEAST!
turkey is now ranked higher than Ghana lol still not feeling good about our first game against them in the world cup
you shouldn't.. Ghana gonna win hands down if this is what you guys are bringing to the table lol
well I hope our defense tightens up. that's about the only thing im worried about. we haven't had the same back 4 in 12 straight games

USA and Mexico had entertaining games. Turkey did very well today, and so did the USA. This easily could have been a 5-4 game if both teams finished a few chances better, and that's partially why it was so exciting.
Mexico looked better usa did not look good today u have to admit that... turkey is not even in the world cup ecuador is usa got lucky very lucky...
Should have been 4-1.
David Mendoza
Mexico shouldn't even be in the Cup its only because of us that you are even in.
Some more work needs to be done on the american defence we still have a few weeks to go so i hope klinsman fixes this thsb we might have more than a decent chancs
ok, did anyone notice Dempsey's unbelievable tekkars @ 1:10?
Great game but we really need to bolster our defense. It seems that it's easy for teams to get passed it. On a side note, does anyone else feel that the team captain should be Michael Bradley? He's like the maestro of our midfield...
Turkey best underdog team in world. sometimes losing against san marino, sometimes beat world champion. players have a concentrated problem, they lose when they see the opponent small.
USA is good at So many aspects!
Pray for the usmnt in the world cup cuz, they're going to need it
Can we get field level highlights for this?
1:10- what a move: between defenders legs.
Messi would be proud.
;)
lol at 2:07 the commentator said "Oh,Noonar"
Yeah Taylor Twellman is funny.
Greetings from Russia to US team, well done!
Was anyone else laughing while watching this? Couldn't help myself.
our backline is just too inexperienced and our midfield lacks chemistry. there's no time to fix it. we can only hope that every other team we play is having worse problems than us.
Im from turkey and I see mnt in all usa soccer highlight videos. What does MNT mean?
CA GAMING slm arkadas
Mnt = men's national team
us FOOTBLL improveed a lot, can't believe they can beat turkeys.
We cant defend this bad, guys need to be more serious. GJ on the win though.
if we don't clean up our defensive errors we are going to get seriously punished by Ghana, Portugal, and Germany. But our offense looks really good keep up the good work USA!!!
USA needs to work together and pass it more
Jozy is just taking up space on the roster that could have been for Landon Donovan, and taking up space on the pitch that could be for A.
Not exactly convinced that this will be the starting lineup for the USA. I'd replace Brad Davis with Omar Gonzalez first and foremost.
davis is a winger
2 totally different players my friend.
Gonzalez is a bum and belongs on the bench. Klinsmann has finally realized this.
I agree with you, except the goalkeeper, all team lines will have changes
Victor B.
I'd go with Guzan; rewatch the last time we played Ghana in the WC and tell me I'm wrong.
Turkey are too greedy with the ball. They had good chances to score and just shot directly at the keeper without even passing.
The U.S better pick it up
The US played great. Why you trippin? As a Mexican, I can tell you that this team is waaay better than Mexico. Mexico sucks.
1:10 for an epic destruction.
0:28 "the new american wall that mexico will pay for"
Ikr.
Chandler!! you have to be kidding right??? Chandler seemed a little lost in the sauce!! Not only did they steal the ball from you, but instead fighting to get it back, you go off running towards another Striker from Turkey.... ( I see what you were doing, you were anticipating to intercept a pass, but in NATIONAL TV... you would have looked a lot better fighting for the ball you just lost!! not running off to another direction.. Chandler leaves the Goal Keeper on 1 on 1 with a striker... big mistake.... but good Job on Cameron for standing in the Goal Line!!
I cant believe we lost against a nation that calls football "soccer"
I cant believe you’re making a big deal about a word that originated in Great Britain.
Let’s be honest here. Turkey has produced great individual players. But their national team has been horrible for a while now. After that brilliant performance in WC 2002, they’ve been going downhill slowly. And it was evident in euro 2020. Seriously. WTF is wrong with them?
lol guys , turkey just plays for fun and let you win to feel better :)
the way the US played defense worries me. These mistakes will not fly in the WC. I just hope we put the right starting XI in...
To be honest, us did kind of play a little dirty but turkey was dirty too. The ref called nothing for the us. The tackle around 4:30 should of been a pk.
What ever happen to Turkey?
USA used to be so good
Our backs need some work
PERU VS MEXICO 🇵🇪🇧🇷
we are screwed. we'll lose all three of our matches with that back line. parkhurst should definitely be there
cool!
USA lookin good
no chance vs eu
Good luck in Brazil USA!!!!!
Win, lose, draw.
USA forever!!!
Me too and im mexican American but I like the style that us plays the mexican player act like there in a wrestling match
*****
Hahaha hahaha......
