God I love you! So honest, matter of fact and to the point. You are an absolute pleasure to watch! I love me some Royal, and although I've never sailed on NCL, the more I see, the less likely I will.
Margarita....that being said, really enjoyed this video. Never sailed NCL. Prefer Royal over Carnival, but affordability dictates a lot in getting what one prefers. All of them became so expensive. Always love your delivery of content. Thank you.
One of the things I like about your channel is that you don't tell us which is better. You tell us as many details as you can think of and what you and/or Markus like better, which is absolutely perfect. In particular I like this comparison you just did, comparing item for item between two ships/lines-food options, entertainment, pools, etc. Which one did you say makes the best margaritas? I forgot!
I prefer frozen Margaritas… I also prefer to sail with Royal Caribbean than NCL. Most of the really really bad experiences I hear/read about is with NCL. My favorite cruise line is Princess Cruises. I like their Plus and Premier options make it more “all inclusive” than either Royal Caribbean or NCL. And their Medallion experience and App are better than Royal and NCL. Thank you for your reviews and opinions.
I'm disabled in a wheelchair and going on my first cruise on the Norwegian Sun in February. It's one of the few ships that comes to NZ. I like this cruise because the ship holds only 1920 passengers. I couldn't bear being on with 4000 to 7000 people. They also only take cruisers over age 18. So there won't be screaming kids everywhere hogging the pools and other facilities. I won't be getting off at any ports as it's too hard in a wheelchair and my idea of a holiday is on the ship on the sea. I don't care about shows. I'll be quite happy with a good book to read and as many cocktails as I can manage, lounging by the pool, having breakfast on my balcony and attending the trivia evenings etc. I will join up with the singles group on board and see what shenanigans we can get up to. I am very excited and can't wait to get on board.
Miami to Southampton. The stops are the Azores, Leharve, Vigo Spain, and Lisbon. There might be another stop but I can't remember at this time. I believe the ship is going in to dry dock and that's why it's doing this transatlantic at this time.
Hi Morgan! We were on the Bliss in September and Utopia in November! Love both ships for similar reasons to you. Wanted to let you know we just found out why NCL is taking the ship out of commission next year. We are in the middle of travel agent training with Expedia cruises and we were just informed that NCL is adding more staterooms on board by taking space from the Observation lounge. We love that space as many people do. We are afraid adding more rooms and less space will make the Bliss more crowded feeling.
FYI: NCL has made a new APP. I am cruising on the Bliss in March and they asked me to download a new version which will be in service then. I cannot say that it is improved until I am on the ship. Morgan Thanks for your work.
I like the idea of separating the "vibe" of the MDR. I also agree that the extra outdoor seating is a huge plus. I like to enjoy sitting in the outdoors and not just looking at the ocean through glass. Great job, NCL! They may be my next cruise line, although I love Royal. (I love frozen lime margaritas!)
We always drink beer-garitas when we go to the cottage, but when we're on board it's a variety of cocktails including margaritas! Another great video thanks, and thus far we've only cruised on NCL but Royal and a couple of other lines have been catching my attention to try in the future.
I don't like Margaritas but I do like your videos. I agree that Royal Carribean is better than NCL, for me that's especially in the food for those with allergies.
Add me to the list of those who think you should have included a Margarita comparison for the lines. When you were talking about the go-carts in NCL and then mentioned Quantum class, I was disappointed that you didn't mention the obvious parallel of the bumper cars. Also looks like the Observation lounge one-ups the Viking Crown lounge. I always appreciate your observations!
I just love your videos & the positive energy vibe you give off. We loyal to Royal but getting ready to cheat & try our first MSC in February. Fingers crossed. Another great informative video
I’m going on NCL for the first time in Feb (never been on Royal). One advantage of NCL that you didn’t mention that is important to me is that they have solo cabins. That is saving me like $2000 of “solo supplement” - that’s a lot of go-cart rides 🤣. Planning on having a few margaritas!
Thank you so much for getting the book. Sorry the print is so light. I'm in discussion with Amazon to improve that. Please do me a huge favor and leave a review when you're done reading!
Margarita Great review! I've never traveled on either Royal or NCL and I'm going on my first NCL Cruise in March. Looking forward to seeing for myself what they are like.
So true, nothing beats the waterfront on ncl! ...except maybe a good margarita LOL QUESTION: How do the spa areas compare? I've become totally addicted to NCL's thermal suites because of the hydrotherapy pool and heated loungers. Does RCCL have something like that??
Royal does have thermal suites, but we never visit them because our fitness studio at home has a fantastic spa area and we don't feel like we need to spend more money to visit one on the ship. Sorry!
i can totally understand that! we dont have any thermo/hydro spa areas near where i live so i can only get them on ships. Maybe sometime when you are on RCCL just peek in and snap some pix or get some info to share? :) danke in advance!
I have status on both and agree with your assessment. Did want to say we were in the Dominican Republic on the Norwegian Joy, in port with Wonder OTS. It was Africa hot. NCL had tents set up with chairs to rest, cold drinks, cold washcloths. Amazing. Wonder didn't offer squat, except long lines in the heat to get back on the ship.
I want frozen margaritas! I only had 2 cruises in my life both with rccl I heard there are cut backs on ncl like the blue man group that you mentioned and the show called Kinky Boots. I love shows on ships Las Vegas and other casinos. Ncl raises the price also. I’m going to look at other cruise ship compare to ncl n RC
This comparison has intrigued me, maybe I need to look at an NCL ship for my own comparison. I think I would like to visit a few of the areas looking for a good margarita. However we do love Royal and have done most of our cruising with them.
Hi Morgan you cutie. I love watching your videos, I like your style. Funny. Margarita. Just wanted to say, I always use the term, “ gussied up”! When saying it to friends & family, they all understand me. So there. Looking forward to your next video!
Margarita. I've only been on two cruises and both were with NCL in the before times. I choose NCL for their excellent solos groups and the Broadway caliber shows. I saw Footloose and Six on NCL. I've heard that NCL has really cut back on everything and I'm thinking my next cruise will be on Royal. Depending on how it prices out compared to NCL.
We've never tried NCL - were planning to before the pandemic, and then again after things got restarted. But with their doing away with shows and entertainment, and raising their prices so much (although that really applies to all the lines right now), I have thus far just steered away from NCL. It would take a few margaritas to get me to book them right now. Like the comparison Morgan.
Looking for to reading the new book during the holidays! I am saying gussied up less these days but do occassionally. I prefer an old fashion to a margarita.
My partner will only go on Royal Caribbean because he has extreme anxiety & gets lost easily. I’ve accepted that but I would go on NCL if he would. Both have margaritas tho. We just don’t drink much lol. He was able to get my status on RC because we have a domestic partnership. No legal papers; we just live together & they took my word for it. You may want to check on that if y’all go on Royal Caribbean because Markus may qualify.
If you’ve never had a Hennessey Margarita, I highly recommend it. They substitute Hennessy obviously for the tequila - So easy to drink and it doesn’t give you a headache.
I miss the improve that NCL used to have. Sailed the Gem in 2013 and Second City was on board. I always attended their shows. I also befriended one of the cast members and he even included an inside joke the two of us had in one of the shows which was very funny. I remember him looking at me during the show when he said the joke. We hung out in the Bliss lounge but we didn't have any margaritas. I also sailed NCL Escape last year and they had Choir of Man. That was a really fun show.
margarita -Thanks Morgan, information you've given me on the Bliss is going to be very helpful for my 13 day transatlantic sailing on January 4th. I've previously sailed on the Epic, Sun, and Breakaway (3xs) and I'm looking forward to this new class of ship.
Hummmm, I think on Royal, there is a place called Solarium? Where on most ships it is indoor and climate controlled? This is a great place on the ship on Royal compares to the Observation lounge on NCL. The Solarium takes almost the entire front of the ship with a spectacular view with many places to sit and to relax with its own bar, restaurant and even its own hot tubs and world pools. The best thing about the Solarium is you have to be 18 to get in, well for the most part. Also on Royal, specially on Quantum, Oasis and Icon class ships, there are some outdoor sitting for certain restaurants in Central Park and also in the Boardwalk areas? Even on the top deck, you could find El Loco Fresh, great food BTW.
Margarita! I think the app is way better on NCL on the iPhone. I haven’t been on NCL since February so it may have changed but there definitely wasn’t that pdf style dailies.
Please dont tempt me with the idea of a margarita... Just got off Wonder (otS) for Thanksgiving, and I love those, whether frozen or on the rocks... Salted rim ALWAYS!!!!!
I used to drink margaritas, but that was years ago. I was on the Prima for a Norway and Iceland cruise. Trust me all those outside areas are not usable in the North Sea. I agree on who sells internet by the minute? In the main dining area you could not wear shorts at night, I haven’t been on the Bliss so I don’t know how those less dressy areas work.
I just disembarked from the NCL Pearl. The ship is fine but the food is poor both in variety and quality to the point where I decided to only eat dinners at the specialty restaurants the last 6 days of a 14 day cruise. I had given up on any food in the buffet by day 3. Ate breakfast and lunch in the MDR. Even the specialty restaurants were sometimes mediocre. Moderno was especially bad. I haven’t sailed Royal but have sailed Celebrity, Princess, Carnival and Holland America. NCL is ranked last. I must say the cabin was fine and the ship very clean. The crew were excellent. In defense price the price was by far the best. The liquor package is also excellent.
I like NCL but I have issues with the newer ships of NCL. Lots of space are used for Go-Kart tracks, slides and Haven. The public space is so limited. Pool area is so small. Not a fan.
I try not to be a basic babe and order margaritas on a cruise, but the tasting on NCL that I did was fabulous. 😂 Also, NCL had a decent app, but they recently did app and website “upgrades“ and I think they really ruined more than they added.
Too bad, I always thought the food on NCL was betting than Royal. The king of pier side parties is MSC. You should definitely try Margaritaville Islander.
I think the lines have added so many new ships that they can't afford (?!) to offer big name talent on all of them. That's why theme cruises are popular. Did NCL have a ship band like Royal does?
I've been on RCI four times, but not recently. Most of my cruising has been on Holland America. I prefer HAL to RCI, but there were definitely things I did enjoy about RCI. Last month I tried NCL for the first time, thanks to a video about their Solo Cabins. The cabin was fine, but the food on the ship was not. The buffet was uninspired and not great; the other included restaurants I tried weren't any better. My only good meal that week was in the specialty Brazilian place, which was covered by my package. It definitely didn't help that I'm diabetic and had to be careful of the carb-heavy offerings everywhere, especially the American Diner and the Irish bar. They offered a couple of salads, but they were so meager it would have taken four or five to make a meal. And NCL's continuous pushing of their CruiseNext program just served to remind me of how much I wasn't enjoying myself and how I will never return.
Was American Diner actually included or extra fee?! I totally skipped it on the bliss because it was an extra fee restaurant on the Escape! I have sailed lots w/ NCL but they have gone downhill FAST in the food dept that's for sure. :( Won't be trying them again anytime soon.
@@sarapugh6700 American Diner was included on the Getaway, as were O'Sheehan's Bar & Grill, Taste, Savor, and The Manhattan Room. I tried Taste once, the Diner once, and O'Sheehan's a few times. I made the mistake of ordering French Onion Soup as a starter at Taste. No crouton, no cheese, just onions in broth. A can of Campbell's in a nicer setting, not exactly what I was hoping for.
@@scapevelocity EW! terrible. i'm surprised that American Diner is included, i might have tried it out had i known...of course it was usually closed when i walked by. The Local on the Bliss was INEDIBLE! i've never done this b4, but i actually took a bite, got up and left - it was THAT bad.
Things have changed greatly the past 10 years. Back then each company had its own target market. Cheap and under 30 you went Carnival, the more over 30 the more likely it was NCL. Wanted a little nicer but not to stuffy, it way Royal. Today all of these appear to be going after the same market, so where the real difference is ship size! The older and smaller the ship is, the more mature the passengers are likely to be. I prefer to sip my 'margarita' on an older smaller ship.
We're Platinum with NCL so we get perks; best perks of all the lines. Hiwever since Covid, we feel they have gone downhill and if it weren't for the perks, we probably wouldn't choose them over another line. Can't speak to RC, out of our price range and we're not into theme parks at see. Oh and I like to get gussied up. 😂
God I love you! So honest, matter of fact and to the point. You are an absolute pleasure to watch! I love me some Royal, and although I've never sailed on NCL, the more I see, the less likely I will.
Oh wow. That comment just put warmth in my heart 🥰

Sounds like a great plan. Maybe you could consider reading "Places, Please!" while sipping a margarita? ;-)

Unless the minimum age requirement on the Sun has been implied in the last month, they do indeed allow children.

Hummmm, I think on Royal, there is a place called Solarium? Where on most ships it is indoor and climate controlled? I liked how Virgin had seating around deck 7 to enjoy a margarita. Wish it was lower down, like Royal has the outside deck on 5.
Margarita’s are great. Thanks for the video.
I hope to enjoy a margarita at one of the NCL outdoor restaurants!

Margarita!
Morgan you're the best ❤.

Sorry but it’s not even close who has the best loyalty program … Royal!
