I feel like I've had my 15 seconds of fame! Thanks for the shout out. ❤ Just bought your book and will be happy to review it on Amazon. Merry Christmas.
Mexico has always had a tourist "entry fee" you paid ($35) as part of your airfare, when landing at one of their airports . You also paid an "exit fee" leaving (Tourism tax in Quintana Roo) of 271 peso ($13.50). (Cancun and Cozumel are in Quintana Roo). Cruise ships were exempt until this new fee of $42. I understand it is 1 fee for all your port stops in Mexico. No, the fee won't stop me from going by cruise ship, but could be a challenge for a family.
I saw the movie Sicario a few days before my 2015 cruise to the Yukaton. Our bus was next to a caravan of trucks with heavily armed police headed back to Progreso where rival cartel had been spotted pointing guns at each other in front of tourists. Nothing ended up happening, but it was surreal having just watched a movie with similar imagery.
Merry Christmas!! Just coming home from vacation with my husband..no not a cruise., Driving for days in a pick up truck...but I did just come home from 45 days on The Edge Australia/NewZealand...solo...going solo in mid April to the Mediterranean..
Yes, We’ve got a planned cruise for February 2026. Our Wedding Anniversary is on Valentine’s Day and we love to cruise for our anniversary. We’ve had this cruise booked for several months. The earlier you book a cruise, the less the cost has been our experience of late. Plus, we get to select the best stateroom and location. And, our cruise has an overnight in Progresso as well as visiting Cozumel. I’m still waiting to see how this new Mexico “tax” will be applied. We are in Mexico for three nights - two in Progresso and one in Cozumel. I’m thinking that we will be taxed only once and not for each night or each port. I guess we’ll see…
We booked a cruise the beginning of this year for next April, and yes it seems strange. The reality is,if you wait you won't get the cruise you want! Spring or Fall works best for us but for others apparently to!
We are always thinking about cruising more than 1 yr in advance. Too reasons, get good deals and the location of cabin we want, and two, something to look forward to.
Good on you for the fast passport renewal! I just did mine as well (U.S.) and I mailed it the Friday before Thanksgiving, so the passport office was obviously closed day off and day after the holiday. Consider me shocked when two weeks to the day from when I mailed it, I received it back, esp. considering the long weekend holiday. Got my passport card then just two days later.
It’s easy to say $46 is Bo big deal h til you multiply for a family. Find out before you visit if places take credit card. I’ve been to a couple places in Mexico that didn’t take my Mastercard . So needed to have their currency . Congratulations non the book will order after the new year 🎉
Do you guys have porch pirates there? It could’ve been a case where somebody saw the box thought it was electronics or something very valuable (not that your books are not valuable ) and could steal it? During this time of the year, especially in the US porch, Pirates are a very big concern and issue.
If your single you better book two years out. There are few deals for single cruisers. But the cruise lines that offer singles deals do that with a very limited amount of availability.
I was LOL about booking into 2026. We have a B2B2B booked for Jan-Feb 2026 from San Juan on the Brilliance of the Seas. Love Radiance class. so why? 1. we decided a few years ago we like summer in winter (ohio here) so have alternated cruise vs condo for the past few years. So that decision made. 2. if you want summer, you have to go far enough south so either very western Caribbean or South Caribbean. 3. Love San Juan. 4. Pricing early is cheaper and we booked in April 2024 for this on board, so only $100 deposit. even if we cancel that far out, not a fortune. so there you have it. But wait, there's more...........LOL. We booked Viking River Cruise Amsterdam to Basel Aug 2026...booked in Aug 2024! those balcony cabins really sell out fast. So Morgan, join us. love to see you.
Just renewed my passport online, and received the new one in less than one week. I couldn’t believe it. My wife’s, however, is still in “checking documents” phase even though I submitted them a few minutes apart.
You didn't look at the fee from the prospective of the cruise lines. They have paid a lot of money on infrastructure to those ports and now they're asking for more money which as you said they will pass along to their customers.
If you fly into Mexico. A visa form is required to be filled out before you land. I have spent a lot of time in Mexico cruising and flying. 42 dollars to enter is ridiculous.
I am not giving Mexico that much in fees And Who looks at there port fees line by line so all the cruise lines are probably going try and charge for each Mexico port and Norwegian will be at the top of list to screw passengers over as much as they can by having missed ports and not returning the money I could go on more about this with the lines but I will not People will need to read all port fees and the cruise contact to know how much there Mexico cruise is going to cost them
They should have just raised the prices even more than $42 for anyone on a Royal Caribbean ship. That company is colonizing Cozumel and Costa Maya and as someone who sails on another line I'm sure not happy about it.
I just see people that think the way you do who look at new $42 fee's as no big deal as the exact reason why we get these these new fees and price hikes. Of course it's no big deal for you and other cruise tubers because you recoup your cost with monetized videos and it's the way you make a living so you have to pay the fees.

We are leaving on a Mexico cruise on Monday! Been down there a bunch over the years. 😊 Thanks for sharing info.
Can;t wait to place an order on Amazon to order your book.

I just submitted my review of the book. Can’t wait for part two. The pressure’s on, Morgan! 😁
Thank you so much!

Let me know when that tax shows up. I'm really curious what happens with that.
Thanks Morgan for reading my comment/review, that means a lot to me😊 Have a great Christmas time!
Sure! You have a great Christmas, too!
Thank you for the content! Happy Holiday season to you guys too! *hugs*
Hope you have a very Merry Christmas Morgan 🌲⛄🌴
Thank you! You, too!

I also don’t understand how people can book cruises 2 years in advance.
In my 30 years of cruising, the
earliest I’ve booked is 6 months ahead.
Yeah. At my age, I might not be around in 2 years.
@
I didn’t do it when I was 20
😂

Two days. Wow. That's almost creepy. Did they read your mind and have things prepared in advance???
Not every vendor in Mexico is able to process credit cards, some locals can only take cash.
The problems are: 1) a family of 4 = $168.00. #2: It's not going to the ports, but to the army.

I try and plan my cruises two years out or as soon as cruises are released. Of course I am retired...more time than money

First? Wow, perfect timing tonight. Got in the first like too.

YEAH, OH YEAH. Love sofa time.
Don't forget the 2% resort fee on Miami Beach.
Haha. Right?
