Excellent Video !!! I came here because my 2003 Tahoe 5.3L keeps blowing 10 amp A/C fuses I swapped out the compressor relay and not the problem. I'm thinking its that sensor on the clutch. I do not want to take out the compressor. Before I do this I'm still looking at all connections and wires. Great job !!
im glad i watched this video my clutch kicks off and i figured it was the clutch cause i used my tonya harding on it and it kicked on so now when it kicks off i just tap it and it works enough to get home im going to order a new one and change it. thanks for your video
That's were 3 hands come in handy. One to hold the cell phone, and the other 2 to work on the compressor. Seriously, great vid & nice job replacing that burned out clutch.
Excellent! I have to do this ! I can tell you this when replacing the ac belt you want to push that belt all the back behind the balancer then put it around the ac clutch and and pull back on the tensioner and then move the belt around the crank pulley ! Much easier to do from behind the crank 💯💯💯💯
Nice work. I'm half way through this job on my Avalanche. The snap ring on the coil is kicking my butt. You have to remove and install it pretty much blind. I haven't been able to get the new one on yet but at least I got the old one off. It looked exactly like the one in your video - all burned up. I was going to replace the whole compressor until I saw this video. Thanks for sharing!
Hey I'm at the last step to get the old clutch off and I cant get damn snap ring to pop off I've tried 3 different snap ring pliers and even making a pair and advice or tricks would be greatly appreciated
Nicely Done... Folks I was able to find a clutch assembly on Amazon for $59. Autozone sells the same one for $149.00. The only advice I would add is to remove any grease from the clutch surface. Like Brakes and Manual Transmission Clutches, grease/oil on that surface may result in premature part failure just saying...
ACDelco 15-4982 GM Original Equipment Air Conditioning Compressor Clutch Kit i put in "A/C CLUTCH" The 01-03 Chrysler fit my GM 07 Suburban fine- Ice Cold A/C
Great video you make it look so easy but I do have 2 questions. What is the tool called that is used to remove the fan cover clips and what size is it? Also what size puller is used to remove the clutch pulley?
say what size is that threaded nut that goes into the a/c clutch? looks like it may be 5/8 11 but to hard to tell frome the angle i have. i want to make the removal tool but need that size. thanks
Just curious but, all this time and effort, would it not be easiest to just replace the whole assembly and be done with it vs taking it all apart and replacing individual parts?
Technically you arent allowed to just purge refrigerant into the air, plus the cost of replacing everything can be substantially more money. I had my AC compressor replaced not too long ago and if I can prolong it, it’s worth the effort.
My clutch kicks on for about 6 seconds and drops off for about 10 seconds. Is this an issue that can be fixed simply by just replacing the clutch? Just wondering what the symptom was that ended with you only changing out the clutch and not the whole compressor. Side note: A/C charge is good and when the compressor kicks in the air cools down. Anyone have any feedback that actually had the problem that I am having? If so did it fix it? Thanks and hopefully someone has some good feedback.
He didn't take it out, looks like he went ahead and grab another one to show you how to do it NOT being in the car. Makes sense, he was having a hard time with video and uninstalling
This method did not work for me! Because it's not possible to install the snap rings in tight space. It's easier unmount the compressor but keep the hoses attached. Much easier to install and uninstall the snap rings.
Hey buddy i see that ge uses a pulley puller to take off the clutch. Do u have to use a pulley installer to put it back on? Im just curious if u have to use it to install it. I was assuming youd have to am I wrong? Tha ks man
Tried to remove the bolt that holds the clutch/pulley assembly but my clutch moves. In this video your clutch did not move whilst removing it..... Please help!
This is my ideal instructional video. Straight to the point, comprehensive, and good camera angles. Thanks

John Plato I agree

yea definitely worth doing instead of buying a new one. I'm getting ready to do mine as well
OK, Whats going on I have to replace mine also. It must be a conspiracy from GMC. Thanks for the video I hate going into a repair job blind.

You tha man....snap rings ans a camera...couldn't do it camera would get smashed on the ground in my way lol
Great video, just saved me $60
Great job! 👍. Can i change only the ball bearing on the clutch? My Avalanche is noisy when i turn the AC on.
Any idea where I can get replacement snap rings without buying an entire kit?
Great video. Should it be difficult to remove clutch or does it require a flat blade to pry around it? Mine may be rusted on
Hey I'm at the last step to get the old clutch off and I cant get damn snap ring to pop off I've tried 3 different snap ring pliers and even making a pair and advice or tricks would be greatly appreciated
Exactly where I'm At now lol. Terrible
How did you get it done ? I'm about to lose my shit
Small flat screwdriver and pick possibly..
I got it. Took a lot of tries but I did it. Good snap ring pliers. Would've been easier to remove the compressor 1000%

Thank you. Amigo. Great work
That was helpful. Thanks.
Thank you for video!
Excellent video. Where are the compressor seals/orings in relation to the clutch assembly?
So i have a question. I see you use the pulley puller to take the pulley off. Do u have to use a pulley installer to install it or no?
I don't have pulley installer. I just use hummer.
And why did you take the compressor out of the truck.. you could have done the same job leaving it in place. Good job though. Let's have another beer
Tom, the compressor that was out of the truck was the 'donor' unit that he got the good clutch from.
@@im1sickpup269 it also looked like a demo or removal if the under truck wasn’t clear. Great job!

Mine is M6 1.0, on 2003 Suburban, but cannot be sure it's OEM.
Good helpful video. thanks.
good video. thanks for the help

This was the best solution of everything else is good. Don't open the system unless absolutely necessary.
Excellent job showing exactly what to do.
Have you priced refrigerant lately?
Im thinking a compressor swap would be easier...
Nice bro

Did you replace the hi/lo sensor on the dryer?
So,I thought this was being done with the compressor still in the vehicle. Apparently not
He didn't take it out, looks like he went ahead and grab another one to show you how to do it NOT being in the car. Makes sense, he was having a hard time with video and uninstalling
The one he did out of the vehicle was the replacement clutch.
Como es posible que no vendan un compresor exacto para una 2001sierra 1500
It would've helped even more if you would've said I'm using this size socket metric or standard 🤦♂️
Thank you for this video!
Dont forget the shim
Butterfingers
🤓😎
How in the fuck did you remove the lower fan shroud
Thank goodness I have a duramax. Waaaay easier.
Word other's video be talking about this an that an blahh an blahhhh u get to the point
Needs some commentary!
But I can’t speak English good. Sorry for that.

I tried this and messed up my radiator with the bottom shroud
Can’t you just buy it from eBay
Tried to remove the bolt that holds the clutch/pulley assembly but my clutch moves. In this video your clutch did not move whilst removing it..... Please help!
Did you turn it off and on again
Who else is so bbn lazy they use an impact or air ratchet on the puller?
No que no movia el compressor
I thought you didn't need to remove the compressor
you do not... the compressor on the work bench is the donor compressor. He used an old clutch assembly
Everyone knows u have to remove the compressor so why didn’t u remove it in the first place wtf dude
