No one can or will argue that every single Rockstar game is simply godlike. Every game they put out sets the bar as the standard of video gaming. Regardless of the corrupt stuff they do, no one can deny how great Rockstar games really are. When GTA 6 releases it will once again set the standard of gaming, just as Red Dead Redemption 2 did, and how GTA 5 did before it.

There are companies out there that have a better track record than them when it comes to qualitative games, although they definitely don't get the same financial success off of it.

They need backlash. They keep doing this to passionate modders. It's gone beyond too far. The only reason they didnt shut down rp stuff, is because they tried themselves but couldnt compete. I even think the team should have been allowed to monetize it if they wanted to. The amount of time, work, effort, and money they likely spent to create the mod was definitely deserving of the price of a big mac.
Smh 🤦🤦🤦 I have NEVER understood why these modders that have so much talent continue to waste their time trying to mod games of companies that literally hate their consumers, not to mention that they're modding these companies games for FREE. All their talent & effort would be better spent trying to open up a small indie studio and making their own game instead while also making some money in the process.
You know whats sad, this just confirms that rockstar had the power to make great extensions to the game and chose not to. If a “random” organisation can step in and make such great maps, rockstar couldve made not only a great map, but a excellent extention to the gta 5 map…
They also could've made a story DLC for GTA V like they said they would and they never did, because squeezing the most money out of the playerbase with the least amount of effort is more important.
expect there's more to it then "just" making a map. Real developers and not randoms have to make sure it works perfectly, fits the theme, doesnt cause conflict with anything else in the game, is bug free etc. same logic applies to literally any game with a "better" mod
Yeah that was my thought when I saw this project for the first time. They could have added a dlc and made this in game. Instead we got the arena workshop.

Valve is now officially much cooler than Rockstar. When Valve learned about "Black Mesa" they didn't go "stop right there criminal scum"! No, Valve went "Hey cool! This is so neat. Lets help them out".
To be fair, Valve did shutdown a Counter Strike GO mod called "classic offensive" even after the mod developers went through the whole Steam Greenlight process in 2017. Valve said the mod was "Not a good fit for Steam"
Speaking of Nexusmods, you can see there on the most top modded list is Stardew Valley. And the amazing thing about ConcernedApe (Creator of Stardew Valley) is he wholeheartedly supports the modding community. He even apologises to the players on the last major game update that broke a lot of mods and gave the option on Steam to play the legacy version so that players can still play with their mods. That's how you should support your community, Rockstar. Not pushing them aside.
The only thing I hate about nexus and it's mod manager is downloading mods are slow without premium. getting mod packs and large amounts of mods without premium takes so long. It's worse with games like skyrim special edition, with it needing multiple dependencies.
@tiredlink15 It's annoying but I'm fine with it. I usually just give them $5 for a month or two and then cancel. I'd much rather give the folks at Nexus money over a gigantic corporation. You can't run servers and host terabytes of content for free.
Even depends on what you consider lately, because remember that map mods were getting nuked like the previous liberty city years ago. They must be cooking something with liberty city because I can't see any other reason why they'd go after this instead of going after all those paywall mods and stuff.
These communities really need to just stay radio silent until whatever they're working on is done, and ready to release complete. Release it and disappear to an extent cuz once it's done and out there I'm sure it would be harder for take two to shut it all down.

I can't believe this garbage in the discord server. They say this: Another update regarding the current situation with LCPP. We've noticed a lot of misconceptions and theories surrounding our latest announcement and would like to make a few things clear: This isn’t a DMCA, rather a friendly takedown, mutually agreed upon by all parties involved. There is no negativity between us and Rockstar Games / Take-Two Interactive. How do you have this ohh soo happy chat with Rockstar on a project you've devoted so much time to and say this was mutually agreed upon. Do you think we believe that garbage? Does Rockstar think you saying that makes them look good. If what you say is actually true, then tell us why you agreed to it. Nothing else makes sense otherwise. Don't get me wrong here I love what you guys did and the effort you put into this and to do it for free shows a real love for the game and preserving it. And that's why I just don't understand. Please make me understand in what world is this mutually beneficial? If you guys are giving them the data so they can sell it themselves then fine I get it. But if that's not the case then it's obvious Rockstar threatened to destroy things and you're backing off because of that. I'm sure this post will be deleted but I hope a few people at least see it. BTW i'm not upset with the Devs for getting themselves out of a situation where they could possibly be held liable for some reason. I'm annoyed with Rockstar and if we are seeing this all wrong then I'd love to hear why. But what else are we to think.
Did you copy this from their Discord? anyways I'm sure they threated them, this is the kind of "friendly" chat they have with you: "you take down the stuff or we will sue you for millions and put you in jail", Nintendo does the exact same thing like they did with Ryujinx.

There will be a remastered GTA IV in the future, but they definitely learned from the Defective Edition. For a company that doesn’t rapidly produce new products it’s important that all of their products are solid (to please shareholders). The definitive edition was a PR nightmare, so it’s safe to assume they’ll be monitoring a IV remaster very closely.
Meh. They (Grove Street Games) did horrible on the trilogy, but the RDR1 remaster is pretty good. (Other outsourcing studio) It's an enhanced port, which is what a remaster would be. No need for a remake, just a way to play it on modern hardware. I'd be fine with a GTA IV remaster with sharper textures and 60fps, basically like this mod was, but with the full story.

They need a massive backlash for doing this. Remember, they tried to do the exact same thing for Open IV a few years ago. The only reason they back-pedalled was because of the gigantic backlash and extensive review bombing they got on steam with the PC and Steam community. They came together and formed a union and that's how actions speak much louder than words. We need to do this again NOW.
Rockstar refuses to renew the licenses on the music in thier games so one day they release an update that deletes half the radio music from the game. Then they still expect you to go back an buy their older games if you want to experience things like Liberty City. They should just start calling the games Grand Theft Software.

The EFF even posted a short article over a decade ago now called, "Trademark Law Does Not Require Companies To Tirelessly Censor the Internet".
My problem with this is that these devs are so out of touch with their community that they never saw this coming and said to the modders early on: "No, this isn't going to work. Don't pursue this." The sad truth is that corporations like Rockstar who are anti-consumer can wait out any boycott. There was a huge furor with GTA DE and it fizzled out. They still haven't put the OG on Steam (only on their store, charging $30). DE is much improved but still behind the OG and it languished for months. Then people who try to bring it up now are accused of milking controversy and chasing clout. Vadim got pillared for his video criticizing GTA SA DE. Same deal with attempts at saving Red Dead Online. It's baffling how these big corpo can't seemingly make the distinction between "no profit, fan made, huge passion for the game(s)" and "for profit, little scummy and might rip off people, disrespectful of their IP". They seem to always treat every fan project as the latter option, while taking down mostly the former as a result.
They aren't worried about modders making a profit, that's just the BS they hide behind. They are worried modders will make something good enough to keep the addicts out of their active in game store.
Skyblivion and Skywind are coming soon, Skyblivion maybe this year... Is this why Bethesda is announcing now they are making an oblivion remake (propably, but that's what people expect in the community) so they can trash Skyblivion. I'll bet my butt cheeks that skyblivion where all assets are made by the team from ground up, Bethesda might do something like this.
They won't, they aren't using any Oblivion assets you have to own the original I think and Bethesda is way more open Fallout London is proof they don't mind
Skyblivion literally asked Bethesda for permission before they even started so the oblivion remake literally has no effect on skyblivion at all.. big difference
Isn't the oblivion remake just hearsay. I think Todd once said he'd "thought about it" but there doesn't seem to be any indication they actually want to do it.

Tbh I doubt the copyrighted music was the issue, sure, maybe they used it as an excuse to shut it down. But ever since rockstar switched from actually putting out high quality single player content for their obviously preferred “whales buying shark cards” monetization system, I no longer expect them to show any good will to their audience. They want us to buy that good will. Why would they support a side of the community that makes their own content for free? The modding community doesn’t give a fuck about shark cards. On the other hand, shareholders only give a fuck about what will increase the companies worth year after year. Bethesda caught on early about how they could monetize modding content and even partially take credit with the creation club, not saying it was perfect, but at the very least they weren’t going out of their way to be hostile towards a part of the community that loved their game so much that they decided to turn it into free labor. On the other hand, Rockstar decided that RDO didn’t have the same monetization potential as GTAO (I’m sure they debated adding in rocket propelled flying wagons with Gatling guns before they eventually gave up.) so they allow it to become a fucking chore to play in hopes that people give up on it like they did and either pony up for one of their 3 different currencies to buy a role that actually makes the game fun to play, or better yet, move back to GTAO. They know they don’t have any competition so why wouldn’t they extract every possible cent they can from their properties before they bury it and move the whales over to a shiny new gta where the whole cycle can start over again. Rockstar found the infinite money glitch guys.
What a shame. I could see why. The map in GTA games are copyrighted themselves because they're fictional and they're inspired by real life locations, it violates their copyright. It's a shame because with GTA V's look and feel in Liberity City really was worth checking out.
Hear me out.......maybe, just maybe if you Rockstar fanboys didnt refer to every other open world crime game as a "gTa CLoNe", then we still would've had competition to GTA like a new True Crime game, a new Sleeping Dogs game, a new Godfather game (etc...). If Rockstar had actual competition, then they would've been forced to release GTA6 much sooner. But because they have ZERO competitors, they got lazy and just milk the same outdated GTA5 for over 11 yrs. So you guys got no1 to blame but yourselves for waiting over a decade for a new GTA game. Just to clear one thing up, Rockstar. the one's that made the brand into a juggernaut, no longer exists, all those people retired, passed away, or have left the company and gone on to other things and even other companies, so all of this is an entirely new crowd in there.

the lesson for these mods , never announce, complete it, then release it. Surely the devs knew this was gonna happen
they did exactly that.
But that means they won't get to make as much money from someone elses copyrighted materials tho
People should not be able to control other people, full stop. People being able to control what other people make or see is especially absurd. There should be no such thing as media being shut down or taken away.

Trademark law doesn't require you to "fight every single battle". That's a myth that's persistent online that helps companies save face because people just go along believing they have no choice when they absolutely do. The EFF even posted a short article over a decade ago now called, "Trademark Law Does Not Require Companies To Tirelessly Censor the Internet".
My problem with this is that these devs are so out of touch with their community that they never saw this coming and said to the modders early on: "No, this isn't going to work. Don't pursue this." Instead Rockstar devs had no idea that this was happening and found out about it after it was fully developed and blowing up.

CS1 was only playable because of mods.
They should have looked at a modded CS1 capability when making CS2 and then made that the default. But nah, they couldn't put actual consideration into their work.

Well, you guys should've gave the other competing games a chance when they were still around but ya'll chose NOT to buy & support them, which made the underdog companies lose money and go bankrupt. And then ya'll wonder why GTA has no competition....
@@thechosenone2123give me a break. Ridiculous to suggest that the GTA community is to blame. Nobody was drooling over GTA V for 10 years. The 2014-15 re-release was great, while the second one rightfully got dogpiled and had a landslide dislike-like ratio on the YT trailer.
The sad truth is that corporations like Rockstar who are anti-consumer can wait out any boycott.
