    Buy that $1000 preamp and a $300 mic fellas as you getting started out. Not the other way around. If you are a budget artist, prioritize a professional preamp and good interface first. I have the U87 & Wa8000 (two great mics), and I mix records self-recorded by other artists on $200-$300 mics that sounds great and compatible enough for HQ records. Hope it helps.

      Wa87 and UAD solo good upgrade from Focusrite and Nt1a?

    • @SunnyTure
      @SunnyTure ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yggbeats5759 I'm not familiar with some of that gear, but I upgraded to a UAD Volt interface from an old Focusrite recently and love the switch! But if your Focusrite is newer, I still suggest getting a separate analog preamp and bypass the preamp of your interface to get the best bang for buck. Lastly, if you are impressed by the Wa87 reviews I say go for it. Although, there are lots of good mic options in the ~600 price range.

People sleep on warm audio but in the 500-1200 range they're hard to beat and punch way above their weight class even without the mods. Another dope company is Lewitt. Great budget mics in a mix are the LCT 440 and AT 4033a. Both are in the 300-400 range. I would say that's the least to sound semi pro. However, Doja recorded vocals with a LCT 240 which is a 100 dollar microphone for a song called, "Won't bite" and the vocals sound fine. It's more about finding a quality company for the money. Although you can't go wrong without that Neumann TLM 103. 😂

    the "price" no. the price of my telefunken tf51 was on a deal for 1100 and its a 2k mic. but you do get what you pay for when we start talking about super mics. i had(still have) a Rode K2 and had it for years. i learned how to actually record myself and find where my original tone was on that mic and how to capture that tone. i have natural bass in my voice without being too far in the baritone spectrum and when i started getting complimented on my tone in LA, i started to focus on it even more. the rode k2 did a decent job of that..... but it was still brittle and harsh at the end of the day and even when i upgraded my chain to a 737 into a distressor, its still a rode k2 and sounded like it. i do think that if you're serious about your music, you'd do well to upgrade your tools. eventually im getting a telefunken u47. loving my tf51 for now.

    My mic trajectory has gone:
    MXL 770 -> AKG c214 -> TLM 102 lol. Can safely say… the preamp had made the bigger difference 😭.

      I got the wa8000 modded by Erickson labs and it's top notch. It was already good without the upgrade but lacked body. Also have Lewitt LCT 840 and it's beautiful and silky sounding great for singers.

    No love for AT's high end? The AT 5047 can go toe-to-toe with the U87 ALL DAY! The AT2020 was there for everybody at the bottom, but their $300-5k stuff is also incredible. (I still love my AT 4033 as well!)

      You don’t have to go all the way to the Audio Technica 50 series to hang with a u87. It’s a Video on TH-cam right now comparing a U87 to an At4050 and if you didn’t look, you’d be hard-pressed to tell the difference between the two or you may prefer the Audio Technica At4050.
