I sell kettle corn popcorn for a living. I've done it for 19 years. My Kettle is twice the size of yours. I don't mean to be a critic but you're using way too much oil. It looks like popcorn soup. Where's your volume at? Is that tote food grade? I'll bet your popcorn is super oily. Put the popcorn and the sugar in together at the same time. As much seed that you used it should have overfilled that tote. Popcorn expands 44 to 1 I use just about the same amount of popcorn that you use but half the oil. when you dumped it into that tote I could still hear the oil sizzling I buy PopCorn by the ton, not the bag. Maybe your seed dried out it's not expanding like it should. Try a different seed. I won't tell you what I use. But everybody sure loves it. Popcorn should have three flavors the flavor of the seed. The flavor of the sugar the flavor of the salt I've been to A lot of shows were there will be three kettle corn people there and my booth has a line. I have four people working for me, and I can't keep up. I've even raise my prices and I'm higher than the other people. And still out sell them. Here's the only tip I will give you. You know the mixture is correct. When you add the sugar with a popcorn and you steer it and you see no oil and the sugar starts to clump It melts and glazes the popcorn. At that time Sounds like your heat too high. This Film that you see coming off it is your oil getting ready to catch fire. Good luck. Have a nice day.
I have a very old kettle corn machine since 01 I use outstanding ingredients if you're going to use cheap oil you will have bad kettle corn I use a blend of coconut and corn oil I only use popcorn from a distributor and Domino sugar make sure the machine is at proper temperature with this little bitty machine and 80 quart I sell two tons of popcorn at 6 shows per year used great ingredients not Sam's or Costco the reason I only do 6 shows now is I'm old and I want to do 4000 a day and not 400 and there are limited shows that you can get into because there are so many kettle corn machines around with the big events

PS the reason why use coconut and corn oil is it has a higher burn point
bull shit. dont use coconut. it makes the popcorn taste like coconut. use corn oil only. been doing this for 25 years
