Thank you for posting this video. Kettle corn is great at Christmas. I make kettle corn in my small 8 ounce popcorn popper using very similar ingredient ratios of oil, raw corn, and sugar. I had kettle corn from a big kettle just like in this video, and it was VERY GOOD. Saw it at a Christmas carnival. Little kids wanted to get up close and watch, but they did not yet know they could get burned. The kettle and the operator were inside of a fence perimeter to keep people out for safety reasons.
What a sweet setup for popping corn. I have never had kettle corn, is it always made with sugar. Looks yummy with a cold drink. Well done, keep on popping
In the kettle corn business we use different flavours. In my operation we use Pink Cherry, Blue Raspberry, and Caramel. On stand by we have green apple. Biggest seller is Caramel and Blueraspbery. They are all flavoured sugars.
Just some quick maths for ya he sell's the 12 for 3 dollars 18 for 5 and 24 for 7 means if you buy 2 small 12s which would equal the 24 then you'd be saving yourself 1 dollar
We recently got kettle corn at event in Quartzsite Arizona. They label their popcorn in the ingredients as mushroom popcorn. It was a very superior popcorn. A lot more popcorn area for flavors and not a lot of bull showing.
Either you really, really like kettle corn or you work farmers markets professionally haha. Thanks for the video. I have always had a hard time figuring out when to add in the sugar.
Ok this is cool! However, your a welder fabricator...so make a tumbler that's horizontal for tumbling (sifting) and vertical for bagging and pouring. In just saying it'll help a lot! You can make it battery powered too or 120v whichever.
Hi Daniel. Sorry for late response. The 80qt poppers I use I order from 2 or 3 suppliers here in the USA. I use ALPHA USA and Webstrauant.com They are a Chinese copy of the Hobart 80qt mixing bowl used in most bakeries. In Germany Google restaurant equipment suppliers, try Ebay or a similar, also try a Chinese supplier like www.alibaba.com/. or even Amazon.
Do you do the same thing as you did with the sugar with any other flavor? Just asking because I’m just starting are with my own kettle corn stand myself
Yes .. I've sold poppers to several people who use it to cook Soups, shrimp Gumbo, Chile, crawdads and Deep fry turkey's . Basically it's just a big pot with a burner under it... The sky's the limit.
Hi Arnold ? - I have one exactly like this one in the video. Brand new, CAll me if you're interested. I also have a customer in Bakersfield who has a used one I can put you in contact with - I'll be in and out of my shop the next few days but I will call you back if I miss your call or Text. -360-477-0257 .. Very good point. I've made kettle corn with both butterfly popcorn and mushroom popcorn and had very good results. Mushroom popcorn is generally more expensive than butterfly popcorn per pound. At least I compared the two at the 50 pound bag price at a concession supplies and equipment dealer.
Thats it ?? wow , I thought it was so much more than just corn and sugar and a little bit of salt ( its cooked in a Huge keetle ?? ok well thankyou so much for sharing this video
I see ur using an 80 quart.but if u wanted to could u pop more than 6 cups at a time if u needed to?For example in order to keep up with demand an an event?
Yes 10 cups is about as much as I have popped. Anymore than that and it tends to fall out of the kettle. Some of my customers say they can get 12 cups out of a batch if they use a auto stir.
Sorry for the late response. -- 6 cups of mushroom kernel's, 2 cups of sugar cooked in 2 1/2 cups of oil (corn oil, Coconut or butter). then a bit of salt.
I had 4 bottles I use to store it by the window. it was the one at the back of the shelf. The sun faded it very quickly. I'm in a new shop now. Tons of storage options now.
Yes I build Auto stirs for them . Almost everyone who buy's one from me this year is getting a auto stir from me too. If it's not busy I prefer to pop by hand.
Try a different vender .. Most cooks do it right. The first batch I ever made was perfect. the next 3 were a bit burnt... since then I got it down and figured out how to cook it without burning it.
Robert Malone I make mine on the stove, just regular popcorn. Cover bottom of pan with oil, put 3 kernels. When they pop I cover the bottom of pan with the popcorn and take it off the heat source. Bam.
I sell these poppers to many people who use it for home use... They share it with there neighbors, parties Church and other activities. Many also use it to cook chili, Gumbo's and soups.

Yes, at least a little bit of sugar. If it doesn't have sugar, it's just regular popcorn
In the kettle corn business we use different flavours. In my operation we use Pink Cherry, Blue Raspberry, and Caramel. On stand by we have green apple. Biggest seller is Caramel and Blueraspbery. They are all flavoured sugars.
This is great! Could you do another video like this and breakdown the pop process while you make a batch?

I tend to get a "ring of sugar" around my kettle after a handful of batches. How do you avoid that?
How much does it cost for the set up you have?
Thank you. I now know what to do with my old crab cooker.

Do you do the same thing as you did with the sugar with any other flavor? Just asking because I’m just starting are with my own kettle corn stand myself
Basically Yes ... You can play with it until you get what result you like... Everyone has their "secret" way of popping corn.
Can you cook anything else beside popcorn?
Yes .. I've sold poppers to several people who use it to cook Soups, shrimp Gumbo, Chile, crawdads and Deep fry turkey's . Basically it's just a big pot with a burner under it... The sky's the limit.

I use 1 3/4 cup per 6 cups of corn. Most use a 3 part corn 1 part sugar but That's a bit to sweet for me.
why is the label faded sir?
I had 4 bottles I use to store it by the window. it was the one at the back of the shelf. The sun faded it very quickly. I'm in a new shop now. Tons of storage options now.

How much plastic do you get on the product dumping it directly into a non food grade tub from the cooker? And why the hell would you do that?
Don't you like PCBs in your popcorn? ROFL. Seriously I wouldn't eat that popcorn if you paid me. lol.
No need to worry about the PCBs.......The GMO Masola corn oil will take care of that for you. ;) LoL
It is safe to use tubs.you should invest in google and look it up .
