when i was a kid every time we popped popcorn...my daddy would say...'okay girls, i'll hold the pot and y'all shake the stove.' my great grand kids say it now! in fact, i still have the popcorn pot that has been passed down!...lol
My tip for seasoning popcorn is to put that salt in a blender/nutribullet/processor/or grind it down till it becomes almost powder. If the salt crystal is big some stick on the popcorn but most fall to the bottom of the bowl. you can also add parmesan cheese in the blender or hidden valley ranch seasoning, garlic powder, anything. Extra seasning can be stored for future popcorn snacks
Thank you! Just had bariatric surgery 3 months ago, and trying to find healthy snacks that aren't expensive isn't easy. This was awesome! Easy to follow, love the Kettle corn, appreciate the tips!
I searched all over for a good video about how to make kettle corn (without the special popcorn pan), and your video here is the best by far!!! I am so glad I found this, it was so clear and easy to understand the process exactly, and your advice was so helpful! I'd never even tried stovetop popcorn at all, but I tried this recipe from you following your tips, and it was great!! I ended up doubling the recipe and using a little less sugar, and it was awesome! My family ate it right up (even my self-proclaimed kettle corn hater!) and I look forward to making it again.
Great video. I recommend cocnut oil for popcorn. Been doing it for years. Thanks for posting a good recipe for kettle corn. Definitely going to try the cooling rack trick for the kernels.
Whirley Pop corn makers are excellent, and do not require the shaking. You can use any popcorn seeds you wish. Using oil of choice, heat oil and test 2-3 kernels Throughout this and remaining popping process. continually crank the wooden handle. Not at all strenuous, popping time is quick and even, and very few kernels remain.
That sounds great! The video was intended to make it so you didn't have to use any special equipment, but maybe I need to get myself a popcorn maker to make it easier. :)

I LOVE making popcorn. Thank you so much for this video. It’s super easy to follow (as are all your videos) and I can’t wait to try making kettle corn 🥳🥳 Just a quick tip & question: I’ve found that a clear lid with a tiny hole works best for me over a stainless steel cover when making popcorn. I’m able to see when the first couple kernels have popped and what’s going on in the pot 😆 and the hole allows for ventilation. What are your thoughts on that?
Omg 😱 I can't believe this 50's baby never had S&S popcorn until now. Just ate a whole big bag of boom chicka and decided there had to be a cheaper way. Googled it and 45 min later I know everything there is about popcorn🤯 Phone 📱 decided for me which recipe to watch 1st and here I am 🤷♀️ with you 😊 no need to look further. The only thing we ALWAYS did differently was we never picked up our pan. The sound of shaking it back and forth on our raised black burner makes me think happy thoughts of my grandma. ❤ Our unpopped seeds simply settled in the bottom of our popcorn bowl then out to the squirrels 🐿 thanks for reminding me never to eat microwaved again👍😵💫 YOU CHEERED ME UP.🥰❣️❣️❣️
Totally love popcorn and making it in a pot...never attempted it with sugar.. yummy! You let it slip.. you are pregnant again?! I only watch on YT so I must have missed an announcement?! Congratulations! 😃💕👶
I don't understand, I tried making it, and the suger burned before the popcorn poped. I did everything, I shook the pot; I even waited until the popcorne started popping before adding the suger, but when I added the suger, it stoped it from popping and the suger burned before it started agine. Would you be able to help me?❤❤
@@SugarSpunRun your channel is great 👍🏻 I have tried some of your recipes the mozzarella sticks the garlicky bread sticks and know the kettle popcorn going to make the bread sticks for thanksgiving absolutely delicious thanks for another great upload take care

My go to popcorn recipe thank you!! I’ve saved so much money making it from scratch. I just use raw sugar instead or refined
I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed it so much! 😊
Can we use Honey?
Or maybe Stevia?
Congrats on a confident explanation on making popcorn, great for beginners and above with tips for everyone. Thank you 😊
Great tip about the cooling rack! I usually wind up with a giant popcorn ball (bowl-shaped), so thank you!

@@SugarSpunRun we enjoyed it so much.... tonight I'm fixin to triple the batch .... Should I triple the amount of oil?
"Put the lid back awn" Let me guess where you're from ? 😅 Great tip about using the cooling rack 👍
2 Tablespoons Oil
1/4 Cup Popcorn
3 Tablespoons granulated sugar
1/4 Teaspoon salt

I love sweet salty popcorn. Great recipe.
I’ve even made cheese popcorn, easy and fun.
Thanks!
Hope you enjoy 😊
Yum! 😋 I can taste and smell that delicious popcorn from here! Definitely going to make this.
Please do! 😊
Can the batch be doubled if you use a bigger pot?
As long as it all fits. :)
Hi there! My family absolutely loves kettle corn. Would this recipe work ok if a whorlie pop popcorn popper( hand cranked) was used?
I've never tried it that way, but I think it would work!
Thank you so 💓 much

You're welcome!
What does sugar do to your popcorn 🍿
It makes it sweet 🙂
Wow
Even on “low” this burnt before half the kernels popped - even with shaking as per your instruction. 😢
same here :C I tried lowering the heat and it burnt, I tried cooking it less and it was the same. It's easier to make the popcorn and sugar syrup separately then mixing it together

I actually did do a crumbs post a little bit ago. We are having another little boy. 😊
@@SugarSpunRun Aww congratulations on your new bundle of joy 🙂, thank you I'll go read that crumbs blog right now.
All the shaking removes all the calories too! Great idea! Lol.
🤣 if only!
50 seconds yay
Tried 3x, always burnt before even half the kernels popped :(
Oh no! Is your heat too high? Did you remember the oil? I’ve forgotten before and it didn’t end well
🤟🏻😎👍🏻
To dangerous for the average person now. I can see them not holding the lid on tight and being burned by hot oil thrown out.
💖👼🏻🌺
where's the 'sweet'?
The sugar added at 02:15 😊
@@SugarSpunRun Ahh! - thnx!! I'm concerned w/it burning... have you done it by adding confec. sugar after?
Thanks!! : )
Was really hopeful this recipe would work but it didn’t
O no! What happened?!
