It certainly made the point that the natives were just as human -- loving, hateful, vicious, kind, crazy and rational and everything in between -- as the Europeans that staggered off their vomit-encrusted boats and insisted to the locals that they were in India. The natives were certainly not found sitting around campfires singing "Kumbaya". They slaughtered and enslaved each other like everybody else. As my Dad often said, 'People are people wherever you go'. Even in a pristine South American rain forest in the late 1400's.
The one who plays the villain Raoul Trujillo has been in many movies but mostly secondary characters, although I found movies he was in since 1991, look for his name and you'll see how many movies he was in (51) and I I learned that he is a choreographer of aboriginal dances
What are you talking about? There are many actors in this movie. Rudy Youngblood played Jaguar Paw... Aquetzali García was the oracle girl (the prophecy)... Many more actors! Great deal were actual villagers but there were over 30 actors.
They told Rudy Young blood that they had to do the scene after the waterfall dive ,but they'd dug the quicksand pit and DIDN'T TELL HIM IT WAS THERE, so when he fell in he thought it was REAL quicksand and thought he was really going to die, because Mel Gibson wanted a realistic reaction; when he climbed out he was really, REALLY, pissed!
I'd like to add that I would love to see how these "tribal people" look normally. They look absolutely genuine in the film with their tattoos, piercings, and super convincing costumes.

Like French, Spanish, Romanian Portuguese and Italian are related to Latin, and you could (in theory) with patience hold a conversation with either and be understood by the other (it's not a 1 for 1 comparison of degree, just an idea representation. Mayan languages stride the thin line between fully fledged languages and dialects). That being said, while they "look" genuine, the costumes are not. One of the biggest (valid) critique the movie got was confusing cross-overs between Mayans and Aztecs (ina rchitecture, costumes, etc seen on set).

You mentioned reuniting with the villagers a few times, but there weren't any villagers. The only village we saw was Jaguar Paw's village and it was utterly annihilated. It was burned to the ground and literally everyone in it(aside from the children) were either killed or taken prisoner. Even the displaced survivors of the "ravaged" neighboring village were captured in the forest.
I've always wondered what happened to the captives that were behind Jaguar Paw.... could they have gotten away... it seemed all the hunters were on the chase for Jaguar... maybe someone else survived?

The Human sacrifices depicted where more that of the Aztec than the Mayans. The Mayans did human sacrifice but on a smaller scale, which is where the movie went wrong. They revered victims as gods, and they were more likely to toss you into a cenote than to carve your heart out. Mayan culture is really interesting if you ever get some time read up on it. Blood sacrifices were not done as sport, blood letting was considered integral to the life of everything. Usually the king and Queen would do a small blood letting from their own body most times for daily needs. These types of bigger sacrifices did not occur on a regular basis, only when things got dire. It was a means to petition their ancestors and the gods for rain, good harvests, and success in warfare. If you think there were brutal to each other the Conquistadors were just a brutal if not more so.

The main man who Jaguar Paw had the dream of was the one who had the spear go through the back of his head through his mouth. So there were no villagers to help him, but great review. People cry about the historical accuracy about all movies so this one is no different. But just like 300 and other movies that were based on true events that were good why bash them? They are movies not documentaries. This movie is a Masterpiece 10/10
Just to touch on a comment you made during the plague or sickness scene with the little girl.. this was actually an inaccuracy by Mel. Because the diseases and illnesses like small pox and such came when the Spanish conquistadors arrived. The Native American peoples of the Americas were actually very clean and very hygienic compared to Europeans.
What a tough movie this was to watch. I wanted to see you react to this, Kabir, but that meant that I had to see it for myself first. This movie was unexpectedly brutal for me. I lived in Mexico for a time almost 50 years ago (when I was a kid), and I loved going to see the ruins all around Mexico. At the time, I had no idea how bloody and brutal these past days were, and the sacrifice scenes were almost impossible to watch.
"YEEEEAAAAH, GET IN THERE, FEAST,..." We felt that same shit man. Love the reactions, and this movie is a must-have in the collection. Peace and blessings to you and your's.
Apocalypto is one of the most intense and wrenching movies that you will ever see. I've watched it several times but still continue to spill my popcorn. The ending is superb with the arrival of the Spanish with all that that suggests. Although many of the actors were native Mexican or Indian, Roal Trujillo, the principal bad guy, is actually an American. The multi-talented Trujillo has over thirty years experience as a dancer, choreographer, director and actor. Many years ago there was a show on American TV that explained medical procedures using real doctors. A myth that was debunked on that show was the speed with which a Myan witch doctor (?) could remove a heart while it was still beating. I don't remember the time anymore, but it took a skilled heart surgeon more than several minutes to do it on a surgical practice dummy and he wasn't following standard procedure, if you know what I mean.
I love this movie. I highly recommend you react to “The Last of the Mohicans”. That last fifteen minutes or so is one of the greatest things put to film in my opinion.
I'm not a fan of Mel Gibson's film but I absolutely loved this one. However, I recommended this film to someone once and was thoroughly rebuked for it, so this is not for everyone. Still, it drew me in like no other film.
I don't understand how you couldn't be a fan of Mel Gibson's films, especially since he's transitioned to directing more than acting. He has a great eye for detail, in bringing historical stories to life, even if they're not all exactly historically accurate, he knows how to emotionally invest you into the characters. I would put Mel in the same class as Clint Eastwood, directorally speaking, although with a smaller filmography. But Clint also has almost 30 years on Mel.
Such an unexpected treasure. I was like you my first time, knowing absolutely nothing about the plot. The acting and costumes, everything was superbly done. And that ending...whoa!
The Aztecs were a very ruthless empire. And the average Mayan and Aztec was actually higher then the average Spaniard. The average Spanish lifespan back then was about 30 to 40. 45 was pretty old. Crazy to think about. But the Mayans and Aztecs when dying of age "a good life" had usually a lifespan of 60 to 70. Up north with my and own indigenous roots of turtle island "north America, is what us Indigenous know as turtle island." Had life spans around the same. Sometimes both could live to 80 or longer depending on the tribe and the stories.
Lifespan averages also include infant mortality, so that can skew the numbers a bit. Somewhere around half of infants in premodern societies died before the age of 3. If a person survived to adulthood, they often had lifespans in the 70s and higher.
I mean in ways sure. However many older cultures had very different ways of calculating their infant mortality rate. Greeks especially around sparta didn't keep many of their young. Edo and ming dynasties had similar approaches. It's hard to gauged such men and times by such a loose figment as infant mortality. As all cultures have engaged in such wicked acts of snuffing another nation out. Age in these times were very circumstance. Most folks of this age usually died of disease or killed. The average Spaniard actually wasn't much different. Between sickness and physical combat the south American people stood a better chance at living to an old age.

Infanticide was often used if children were born too close together, as one example. It doesn't matter why or how. The fact remains that the infant mortality rate on its own was significantly higher than the adult mortality rate, which draws down the average. Adult individuals rarely died at age 35-40, comparatively speaking. 60-70 was the more common age range for people who reached adulthood. The numbers might be somewhat higher or lower when one looks at averages within specific groups, but overall, it evens out across the species.
Oh Kabir, I absolutely loved watching you react to this movie. Your abhorrence of the treatment of another human and then checking yourself by saying you could not judge them by today’s standards. Also, being of indigenous Mesoamerican decent when I saw this movie I knew what was coming for the captured tribesmen because I was raised on those stories and how vicious the Aztec and Mayans were. It is an honest look, although not completely true, of how a stronger tribe makes weaker tribes into slaves. Then how you rooted for Jaguar Paw and his family was fantastic. I about died laughing when you flew the bird at your screen. Please continue with your honest reactions. I love watching you for those reasons.

My friend isn’t in to moves with subtitles but I told her she wouldn’t really need or read as you can kinda already tell what would be said with what’s happening. Needless to say, she enjoyed it as must as I did the first time round 😊 also, the tribe at the beginning..was also rounded up. The little girl took their children too.
Apocalypto didn't win any awards, I think it wasn't even nominated. Frankly, it is one of the best action/adventure films ever made. The academy is fickle, and sometimes is stuck on current socio-political trends, overly sensitive people in Hollywood, ect. Gibson really needs to make more movies, because as a director, he is absolutely top tier.
If memory serves this movie came out right after Hollywood started snubbing Gibson. He couldn't even get actors to work with him or else they were blackballed so he went to another country and picked a script that he didn't need any Hollywood actors for. And I think he made it using mostly his money. I think.
I remember seeing this movie for the first time in cinema in early 2007. It was so raw and real and seeing it in the big screen made it even more impressive. I was very interested in maya and aztec cultures in my teenage years and this movie really portrays their life so well.
The villagers at the beginning of the movie were taken as captives with them. They were waiting while the captures went and got them. The 1st guy sacrificed was the guy that gave them the fish.
Mesoamericans noble and priests had an excellent knowledge of astronomy, and knew about solar eclipses and when they would happen. Common people did not, and their leaders used their ignorance and fear as a way to control them.
This would have taken place long after the Fall of The Mayan Empire, so the Mayans were in long decline by then, they also caused many ecological problems for themselves-But against common belief, the end of the Mayan Empire didn’t mean the end of the Mayans. The individual cities became their own states-So the Mayans were very much active at the time of Spanish conquest and its ensuing Hell. But as this movie showed, the Mayans made their own Hell, and rained it down on their neighbors too. The Aztecs knew of the Spanish long before they met, because of rumors of the bloody Spanish dealings with the Mayans. I believe the Spanish were called demon soldiers or something by the natives. But the Aztecs themselves were thought nearly demonic by their subject folk too.

You talk about the struggles and brutality of life back then, BUT, the other day my phone wouldn’t charge. I had to wiggle the charger around for ages before it connected. And I had to buy white chocolate cookies from the co-op earlier, because the milk chocolate ones had sold out. So, you know, we’ve got it bad too.
This movie may be exaggerated and inaccurate for the most part, but it is very entertaining. They made a great choice by not casting big name actors. These actors sold their roles, and I can’t imagine anyone else playing them now.

How does the creepy girl they encounter have small pox if the Spanish haven’t even arrived yet? The architecture is wrong. Mayans didn’t worship the sun. Clothing is wrong. A village within walking distance of a huge Mayan city is completely unaware of its existence yet they speak the same language. I could go on and on
@@User_32 I know of no place in the move where it says it is set 600 years before the Europeans arrive and the only place that I saw that does set the time is at the end where the Conquistadore ships are seen telling is it is approximately500 years ago. so that compaint does not fly nore does the complaint about small pox. As to the others they are pretty petty and hardly what a rational person would call "almost everything". As I see it at its core it is fairly accurate. it is a movie that depicts 3 cultures, one that lives in harmony with nature, a second that has become corrupted to the point of depravity by power and is preying on the idyllic cultures that surround it for slaves and human sacrifice. And a third culture, more powerful than the second that steps in to crush and supplant the second culture and provide a "new beginning" one based on higher moral values than the second culture was guided by. That is what this movie is about. Everything else is windowdressing and not worth complaining about. So unless you are trying to say that at its core it is inaccurate you have not really said anything.
Hey man! As you can see, I´m from México, The Mayans, the first tribe you saw in the movie, they were not warrior or invaders, they were hunters, the tribe that came to capture them were (maybe) Aztecs. They were warriors, searching for victims to sacrifice to their Gods or for slavery.
"beware the man that brings the jaguar." That was your hint right there that Jaguar Paw was going to survive and be the one to end the bad guys. Also, what was fighting over the hole the woman and child were in were two monkeys or apes of some kind. And the people from the beginning of the movie were found and captured along with the main group of people you see, the guy who told them their village was ravaged was the one running with Jaguar Paw trying to get away and getting shot with the arrow through his mouth.
Thanks for the reaction. I think this is one of the most underrated movies, like... ever! No one does period-piece movies this far back with any perceived accuracy. You know, 16th century. Of course it's Mel Gibson so the family is compromised (Mad Max, Brave Heart, The Patriot, etc.) and the protagonist gets his revenge... "In this life, or the next." (Gladiator, not Mel Gibson but, you know) - Like you were saying, the actors in this are not well known so we don't see them as any other character than what they are. This movie is brutal and graphic and I love it. The little girl with the lesions on her skin, prophesies the eclipse and the coming of the 'Man Jaguar' is chilling and awesome. An interesting look into, perhaps what life might have been like in South America before the Conquistadors arrived with their technology and Christianity. Not explored very often in films. That's why I like this one so much. Fun reaction and I am glad you appreciate it. It deserves more recognition.

You should find the book AZTEC by Peter Jennings. It’s a full history of what you just saw but absolutely easy read. It’s so engrossing you just can’t stop reading.
Another example of Mel Gibson being the greatest filmmaker of all time! Your reaction was a delight, because as a viewer you are immediately much less frustrated at the frustrating parts of the film when the reactor is there in the same mood as you and reacts there as you do.
One of the most interesting movies. The more civilized city people are the most dangerous! Took the Spanish 200 years to conquer the last Maya village. I know a half-Mayan, his mother is from that last Maya village. There were Mexican natives in Maya land about 500 years before the Europeans came, at Chichen Itza. The regular Mayans had a different blood cult, mostly self-bleeding, but decapitation for enemy leaders. The heart thing is Mexican.
Some of the historical facts were not completely accurate. But then again what movie is. This movie still contains some of the most haunting imagery on film I've ever seen.

It’s a movie you won’t soon forget or get over. I was on the edge of my seat through the entire movie.
Just to touch on a comment you made during the plague or sickness scene with the little girl.. this was actually an inaccuracy by Mel. Because the diseases and illnesses like small pox and such came when the Spanish conquistadors arrived. The Native American peoples of the Americas were actually very clean and very hygienic compared to Europeans.
Rudy Youngblood(main actor) is actually original American(Native American 🇺🇸). He’s an amazing actor.
The man of the ravage village was the one trapped with him, the one who was running in zig zag with him

What a tough movie this was to watch. I wanted to see you react to this, Kabir, but that meant that I had to see it for myself first. This movie was unexpectedly brutal for me. I lived in Mexico for a time almost 50 years ago (when I was a kid), and I loved going to see the ruins all around Mexico. At the time, I had no idea how bloody and brutal these past days were, and the sacrifice scenes were almost impossible to watch.
"YEEEEAAAAH, GET IN THERE, FEAST,..."
We felt that same shit man.

Apocalypto is one of the most intense and wrenching movies that you will ever see. I've watched it several times but still continue to spill my popcorn. The ending is superb with the arrival of the Spanish with all that that suggests. Although many of the actors were native Mexican or Indian, Roal Trujillo, the principal bad guy, is actually an American. The multi-talented Trujillo has over thirty years experience as a dancer, choreographer, director and actor. Many years ago there was a show on American TV that explained medical procedures using real doctors. A myth that was debunked on that show was the speed with which a Myan witch doctor (?) could remove a heart while it was still beating. I don't remember the time anymore, but it took a skilled heart surgeon more than several minutes to do it on a surgical practice dummy and he wasn't following standard procedure, if you know what I mean.
I love this movie.
I highly recommend you react to “The Last of the Mohicans”. That last fifteen minutes or so is one of the greatest things put to film in my opinion.

I'm not a fan of Mel Gibson's film but I absolutely loved this one. However, I recommended this film to someone once and was thoroughly rebuked for it, so this is not for everyone. Still, it drew me in like no other film.
This movie was so immersive. At times I literally felt like I was there, or watching a well made documentary. Mel should’ve won the Oscar for this

It sounds like you ARE a fan of Mel Gibson's movies.
I don't understand how you couldn't be a fan of Mel Gibson's films, especially since he's transitioned to directing more than acting. He has a great eye for detail, in bringing historical stories to life, even if they're not all exactly historically accurate, he knows how to emotionally invest you into the characters. I would put Mel in the same class as Clint Eastwood, directorally speaking, although with a smaller filmography. But Clint also has almost 30 years on Mel.
Such an unexpected treasure. I was like you my first time, knowing absolutely nothing about the plot. The acting and costumes, everything was superbly done. And that ending...whoa!
I watched this movie twice when it came out when I was 14. My dad thought I was weird for liking it, but it is pretty amazing.
The Aztecs were a very ruthless empire. And the average Mayan and Aztec was actually higher then the average Spaniard. The average Spanish lifespan back then was about 30 to 40. 45 was pretty old. Crazy to think about. But the Mayans and Aztecs when dying of age "a good life" had usually a lifespan of 60 to 70. Up north with my and own indigenous roots of turtle island "north America, is what us Indigenous know as turtle island." Had life spans around the same. Sometimes both could live to 80 or longer depending on the tribe and the stories.
Lifespan averages also include infant mortality, so that can skew the numbers a bit. Somewhere around half of infants in premodern societies died before the age of 3. If a person survived to adulthood, they often had lifespans in the 70s and higher.

I mean in ways sure. However many older cultures had very different ways of calculating their infant mortality rate. Greeks especially around sparta didn't keep many of their young. Edo and ming dynasties had similar approaches. It's hard to gauged such men and times by such a loose figment as infant mortality. As all cultures have engaged in such wicked acts of snuffing another nation out. Age in these times were very circumstance. Most folks of this age usually died of disease or killed. The average Spaniard actually wasn't much different. Between sickness and physical combat the south American people stood a better chance at living to an old age.
@@davidhasselblad2898 I wasn't calculating method of death. Whether it was natural causes or infanticide is not relevant to the statistic. Infanticide was often used if children were born too close together, as one example. It doesn't matter why or how. The fact remains that the infant mortality rate on its own was significantly higher than the adult mortality rate, which draws down the average. Adult individuals rarely died at age 35-40, comparatively speaking. 60-70 was the more common age range for people who reached adulthood. The numbers might be somewhat higher or lower when one looks at averages within specific groups, but overall, it evens out across the species.

Oh Kabir, I absolutely loved watching you react to this movie. Your abhorrence of the treatment of another human and then checking yourself by saying you could not judge them by today’s standards. Also, being of indigenous Mesoamerican decent when I saw this movie I knew what was coming for the captured tribesmen because I was raised on those stories and how vicious the Aztec and Mayans were. It is an honest look, although not completely true, of how a stronger tribe makes weaker tribes into slaves. Then how you rooted for Jaguar Paw and his family was fantastic. I about died laughing when you flew the bird at your screen. Please continue with your honest reactions. I love watching you for those reasons.
This kind of stuff went on in the Ancient World as well! Humans are Barbaric .... And was still going on in Europe when they arrived in the"New World"!
The actor who plays Jaguar Paw is an American, a Comanche and Cree from Texas. His name is Rudy Youngblood.
My friend isn’t in to moves with subtitles but I told her she wouldn’t really need or read as you can kinda already tell what would be said with what’s happening. Needless to say, she enjoyed it as must as I did the first time round 😊 also, the tribe at the beginning..was also rounded up. The little girl took their children too.
Apocalypto didn't win any awards, I think it wasn't even nominated. Frankly, it is one of the best action/adventure films ever made. The academy is fickle, and sometimes is stuck on current socio-political trends, overly sensitive people in Hollywood, ect. Gibson really needs to make more movies, because as a director, he is absolutely top tier.
If memory serves this movie came out right after Hollywood started snubbing Gibson. He couldn't even get actors to work with him or else they were blackballed so he went to another country and picked a script that he didn't need any Hollywood actors for. And I think he made it using mostly his money. I think.
I remember seeing this movie for the first time in cinema in early 2007. It was so raw and real and seeing it in the big screen made it even more impressive. I was very interested in maya and aztec cultures in my teenage years and this movie really portrays their life so well.

The villagers at the beginning of the movie were taken as captives with them. They were waiting while the captures went and got them. The 1st guy sacrificed was the guy that gave them the fish.
Mesoamericans noble and priests had an excellent knowledge of astronomy, and knew about solar eclipses and when they would happen. Common people did not, and their leaders used their ignorance and fear as a way to control them.

This would have taken place long after the Fall of The Mayan Empire, so the Mayans were in long decline by then, they also caused many ecological problems for themselves-But against common belief, the end of the Mayan Empire didn’t mean the end of the Mayans. The individual cities became their own states-So the Mayans were very much active at the time of Spanish conquest and its ensuing Hell. But as this movie showed, the Mayans made their own Hell, and rained it down on their neighbors too.
The Aztecs knew of the Spanish long before they met, because of rumors of the bloody Spanish dealings with the Mayans. I believe the Spanish were called demon soldiers or something by the natives. But the Aztecs themselves were thought nearly demonic by their subject folk too.

the tribe that was ravaging other tribes wasnt doing it for their survival at all, they were just looking for slaves and sacrifices. and the first group of villagers that were escaping their ravaged lands were then caught and jaguars paw spoke to the villager he dreamt of
You talk about the struggles and brutality of life back then, BUT, the other day my phone wouldn’t charge. I had to wiggle the charger around for ages before it connected.
And I had to buy white chocolate cookies from the co-op earlier, because the milk chocolate ones had sold out.
So, you know, we’ve got it bad too.
This is one of my all time favorite movies, absolutely!

This movie may be exaggerated and inaccurate for the most part, but it is very entertaining.
They made a great choice by not casting big name actors. These actors sold their roles, and I can’t imagine anyone else playing them now.
Are you going to understand and that part of that jungle these men have grown up there they know every inch of it by hop they know it better than the back of their hand so of course they're going to know and hear a disturbance in there something that's not supposed to somebody that's not supposed to be there this is my favorite movie I can talk all day about it it shows family you know group dynamics everything just got action so awesome movie

@@アキコ2003 Just to name a few. The timeline is completely screwed up. The film is supposed to be set 600 years before Europeans arrive. Yet at the end of the movie the Spanish arrive. How does the creepy girl they encounter have small pox if the Spanish haven’t even arrived yet? The architecture is wrong. Mayans didn’t worship the sun. Clothing is wrong. A village within walking distance of a huge Mayan city is completely unaware of its existence yet they speak the same language. I could go on and on
@@User_32 I know of no place in the move where it says it is set 600 years before the Europeans arrive and the only place that I saw that does set the time is at the end where the Conquistadore ships are seen telling is it is approximately500 years ago. so that compaint does not fly nore does the complaint about small pox. As to the others they are pretty petty and hardly what a rational person would call "almost everything".
As I see it at its core it is fairly accurate. it is a movie that depicts 3 cultures, one that lives in harmony with nature, a second that has become corrupted to the point of depravity by power and is preying on the idyllic cultures that surround it for slaves and human sacrifice. And a third culture, more powerful than the second that steps in to crush and supplant the second culture and provide a "new beginning" one based on higher moral values than the second culture was guided by.
That is what this movie is about. Everything else is windowdressing and not worth complaining about. So unless you are trying to say that at its core it is inaccurate you have not really said anything.
When historians visited the Ancient temples, they were astounded to find skulls on spikes surrounding the temples… hundreds of thousands of them

Hey man! As you can see, I´m from México, The Mayans, the first tribe you saw in the movie, they were not warrior or invaders, they were hunters, the tribe that came to capture them were (maybe) Aztecs. They were warriors, searching for victims to sacrifice to their Gods or for slavery.
This is a 10/10 for me. Glad you enjoyed it.

"beware the man that brings the jaguar." That was your hint right there that Jaguar Paw was going to survive and be the one to end the bad guys. Also, what was fighting over the hole the woman and child were in were two monkeys or apes of some kind. And the people from the beginning of the movie were found and captured along with the main group of people you see, the guy who told them their village was ravaged was the one running with Jaguar Paw trying to get away and getting shot with the arrow through his mouth.

Thanks for the reaction. I think this is one of the most underrated movies, like... ever! No one does period-piece movies this far back with any perceived accuracy. You know, 16th century. Of course it's Mel Gibson so the family is compromised (Mad Max, Brave Heart, The Patriot, etc.) and the protagonist gets his revenge... "In this life, or the next." (Gladiator, not Mel Gibson but, you know) - Like you were saying, the actors in this are not well known so we don't see them as any other character than what they are. This movie is brutal and graphic and I love it. The little girl with the lesions on her skin, prophesies the eclipse and the coming of the 'Man Jaguar' is chilling and awesome. An interesting look into, perhaps what life might have been like in South America before the Conquistadors arrived with their technology and Christianity. Not explored very often in films. That's why I like this one so much. Fun reaction and I am glad you appreciate it. It deserves more recognition.

Jaguar Paw was harder to kill than Wolverine! He gets impaled on a javelin and pulls it RIGHT THROUGH HIS BODY and he"s STILL able to kill several Aztecs and escape!
You should find the book AZTEC by Peter Jennings. It’s a full history of what you just saw but absolutely easy read. It’s so engrossing you just can’t stop reading.

One of the most interesting movies. The more civilized city people are the most dangerous! Took the Spanish 200 years to conquer the last Maya village. I know a half-Mayan, his mother is from that last Maya village. There were Mexican natives in Maya land about 500 years before the Europeans came, at Chichen Itza. The regular Mayans had a different blood cult, mostly self-bleeding, but decapitation for enemy leaders. The heart thing is Mexican.
Mayans were from Central America, modern day Mayans live in Central America.
