I thank you so much for being transparent with this video Eric. I see so many people making these videos talking about how much money you can make. I went through a bootcamp myself and It seems to be more of the bootcamp new individuals who talk about the money the most. The platform seems to be saturated with individuals talking about the money. Many videos glorify all the pros and not too many of the cons to being in Tech Sales. I myself am not trying to be a Debbie downer but I would like to see more transparent videos of the hard work tech sales could be. I often see a lot of new people get into a tech company and within 3 months time they go to another, then another. Why is that? Those are the things that I'd like to know. So again, thank you for you transparency. Keep making more realistic videos like this.
Thanks Letitia! And difficult to say on the 3 month tenure, but often times that is a red flag of either the company or a sign that the person wasn't a fit for sales. I'll definitely make more content in this realm. And ya the point is not to say don't do tech sales but realistic expectations will prepare you for the long term where you can really make a lot of money consistently which should always be the goal over a short term success. How has your job search gone?
The worst job I've ever had was the most monotonous and stressful one. It wasn't worth a day, quite toxic. I had no idea that this job involved cold calling for 8 hours a day. It's truly mind-numbing. SDR/BDR was just a fancy title.
I was the top producer of my company The Wireless experience, I was hitting like 75k on the highest commission cap(made presidents club too) but i left because i hit the commission cap. Im joining tech sales in August and im only expecting 70-85k OTE for my first year and hopefully 90-110k my second.
Thanks for this content!! $50-60k salary with commission to be OTE $75-$85k is what I’m expecting based on the industry average once I break in. From there, im looking to truly devote myself for the rest of my career because I’ve been learning influence, persuasion, copy and closing since 2018 for my own side hustle and I truly enjoyed it. Learning selling, influence and persuasion is a true passion of mine and i’m excited where this will go!
Highly recommend Repvue which has a ton of information on companies. Glassdoor can be a good second check. Look for ones that have reps that have promoted within the company as well as ideally (mostly at larger companies) a guided sales training experience. What kinds of companies are you looking into?

I wouldn't know what to do with myself after 8 hours of that. SMH
Awesome Eric! It's definitely about the long game

Glad you got a lot out of it. It's still a great career but best to have proper expectations to tap into the long term benefits
