  • The ending to No Time to Die is insane...
    James Bond is one of the most recognisable characters in movie history. Did he deserve that type of ending?

    I saw Skyfall in the theatre and was amazed. Tight, great villain, Dame Judy given an earned sendoff. I was even OK with Spectre. Not great, but a terrific opening scene and a good ending.
    But then comes No Time To Die. From Bond surviving a full frontal bomb blast to a wasted Ana De Almas to horribly miscast Rami Makek to the bad romance to the what-the-hell-is-this ending, I was confused. Where was the fun? Where was the consequence? Where is the sense of risk that was all over Casino Royals and Skyfall?
    Bond movies are mixed bags, sure. But they are best when they combine joy and thrill. Think Skyfall. The villain is a thing of nightmares. Yet Q provides low key laughs and the obligatory sex scene is given its literal fireworks to punch the point home.
    Nolan directs Bond? Sure. If he doesn’t drown all the dialogue with music, doesn’t repeat said dialogue three times, and stays on task , I’m in. But if he gets pseudo-intellectual, bye bye Mr. Bond.

      In regards to Ana (because the rest your points are awesome, as always) - I'm not her hugest fan but she's brilliant in this film. And probably the kind of thing she should stick to from now on - she's not good enough to be too range-y with her choices. As for Thr full frontal bomb - pahahahaaa! I forgot about that! How ridic!

    I know you did not ask for people to put down their favourite Bond. Sean Connery. He is the definition of manliness, and Stoicism. I don't know how to describe Sir Connery in words. Out of old time movies, I will watch over again. Sir Connery is the few, I do watch. I like the others 007's. It's like eating a hamburger versus sirloin steak. Thank you for the review of the film.

    Even tho I shed a tear at cinema theatre when i saw this moment, but i agree with you that bond is sexist but its his main thing and changing him is kinda destroying the whole essence of character. And the whole kid arc, like i think Bond in every country might have at least 2 kids, but i thought it was kinda a foreshadowing for female Bond movie, which i agree with Craig shouldn't be existing. There should be seperate franchise like Atomic Blonde without Bond brand name.
    And it might be controversial but phoebe waller bridge shouldn't have been in writting chair for this movie (she was i think who pushed love arc, i could be wrong).
    Also the title is very ironic for this part, but yeah it was pretty boring one alongside with Spectre.
    For me the best Craig Bond movies are still Casino Royale and Skyfall and i think one of thing why those stories stood out are villains and female characters (Vesper and M) and how mean much to Bond but they also independent. I think that Lea Sedoux is amazing actress, but that role wasn't for her.
    ps : my mom watched ALL bond movies, Craig is her favourite because of piercing blue eyes.

    • @MarcusFlemmings
      @MarcusFlemmings  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I do love Craig, I can't deny! I was just underwhelmed by Spectre and especially No Time to Die. As for a female James Bond, I'm down for that as a new character - but I would prefer they just made a new series of films away from the James Bond world with a female character. Much like the Bourne films and Mission Impossible have done. As for Phoebe, I don't dislike her like some of the other TH-cam channels do - but she deffo had an influence on this storyline - the love arc absolutely was part of that!

The Incredibles (I know that's a superhero movie but it also has a spy vibe to it) and Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol feel more like classic Bond movies than the last 4 (I love Skyfall but that felt more like a Nolan film than a Bond film).
